Protecting the health of the breeding stock in this unit from diseases transmitted by people and fomites
(contaminated objects) is of utmost importance. Therefore, admission will be granted only to persons
who can fully comply with all of the following requirements:
1.
Must have business need specific to the unit that cannot be concluded without entry.
2.
Must observe downtimes as per attached pyramid for ALL Hog production units. Must have
had absolutely no contact with pigs from any other source during the preceding 60 hours when
entering the Inner Sanctum. In signing the Entry Book visitors must identify the location of the
last pig contact if it is anything less than 60 hours (To confirm it was the other Hog Genetic
Nucleus farms).
3.
In the case of international visitors, 7 days of pig freedom must be observed (with the exception
of visitors from the United States). The last 60 hours of this time must be spent in Canada or
en route to Canada.
4.
In the case of international visitors from the United States of America, 60 hours of pig freedom
will apply in all cases (the same as for external domestic sources). Pig freedom time can be in
Canada or the United States, with the last 12 hours to be spent in Canada as per item 5.
5.
International visitors (USA included) will be put up in a hotel in Winnipeg prior to the visit to
observe required downtimes. On the day of arrival such visitors will be presented with the
biosecurity rules for herd entry to ensure compliance. On the day of the herd visit, clothing
will be provided to the visitor by Hog Corp. The visitor shall shower in their hotel room,
change into clothing and footwear provided by Hog Corp, then travel to the nucleus farm with a
Hog Corp representative.
6.
Must not have cohabited or had other sustained contact during the preceding 60 hours with and
person(s) who have frequent pig contact.
7.
Must wear footwear that has never been in contact with a pig farm other than the Hog Corp
units. Alternatively, footwear to travel to the barn will be provided by Hog Corp

If travelling in a vehicle that visits other pig farms, biosecurity rules for such vehicle must be
observed. Visitors travelling in such a vehicle must wear plastic disposable boots over their
own footwear to walk between the vehicle and the barn. Such footwear must always be
covered when near or in the foyer of the Hog Corp unit.
9.
Clothing worn to the barn must be freshly laundered. All clothing (outerwear included) must
be washed between other units and Hog Corp units.
10. Must leave all jackets/coats and footwear in the foyer; outerwear, underwear and socks in the
locker room.
11. Must dip glasses and all jewellery in the disinfectant provided (Virkon).
12. Must shower thoroughly with particular emphasis on all hair and clean thoroughly under
fingernails with the brush provided. Shower must be no less than 3 minutes duration to ensure
the visitor is thoroughly clean.
13. Must wear in the unit, only garments provided on the unit side of the shower.
14. Must at all times, while in the pig areas of the unit, wear the mask provided.
15. Must agree to specifically identify ANY items being brought into the unit. Permission to bring
these items into the unit shall be at the discretion of the management and / or Hog Corp

veterinarian. Items that have ever been in contact with pigs must observe at least 10 days of
pig free time at greater than 15°C (room temperature) and are subject to complete disinfection
and dry down when they arrive at the unit.
Must agree to have all items being brought into the unit, except food containers, either
fumigated or wiped with disinfectant by unit personnel. No item that has ever been in contact
with pigs that cannot be practically fumigated or disinfected, (i.e. paper products), can be
brought into the unit under any circumstances.
Must certify that any food container has never been in contact with pigs except at this unit and
that all packaging is disposable or has been sanitized in the dishwasher prior to entry.
Must agree that any container and food is placed in the refrigerator immediately upon entry into
the unit, all poultry, meat and fish products are cooked and have not originated outside Canada
or the USA, and that no food will be consumed the pig areas of the unit.
Must not knowingly be infected with or shedding salmonella or Campylobacter, or be acutely
and severely ill with respiratory or gastrointestinal disease(s) or unknown cause.
Must not knowingly be shedding Influenza H3N2 or novel H1N1. Persons, positively
diagnosed with Influenza pneumonia, should not enter any unit for at least 8 days after the
confirmed diagnosis.
By signing the Entry Book, you are declaring full compliance and accepting total liability for any
damages incurred by Hog Corp as a result of any breach of these requirements. The Unit
Manager reserves the right to refuse entry or ask any visitor to vacate the unit if there is a reason
to suspect that the security has been breached.
