FULL DAY ANKARA SIGHTSEEING TOUR – Ref: Moc/ANK – M.K.
Program:
Departure from Bilkent area, 09:30 – 10:00
Our tour will start off with the visit of Anıtkabir (Mausoleum of Atatürk). The final
resting place of Atatürk, founder of the Turkish Republic, Anıtkabir was completed
in 1953. The complex houses a museum where personal belongings of Mustafa
Kemal Atatürk can be seen. Also on display are photographs recording important
events in Mustafa Kemal’s life and the establishment of a young republic. There is
also a fine exhibition regarding the Turkish Independence War, along with visual
material (sound and animation).
Visit to the award winning Museum of Anatolian Civilizations. The Museum houses
fascinating exhibits from the Paleolithic, Neolithic, Chalcolithic, Early Bronze,
Hittites, Phrygian, Urartian, Late Hittites; as well as collections from the
Hellenistic, Roman and Byzantine periods. The museum is housed in a 15th
century caravanserai house.
After the guided museum tour, sightseeing continues to the Ankara Citadel, which
is believed to be built either by the Hittites to be used as a garrison or Phrygians
under King Midas.
Visit to the Augustus Temple. This temple is located in the Ulus district of Ankara
and was built in 1st century BC and later dedicated to Roman emperor of
Augustus in 1st century AD.
Next place of visit will be the Haci Bayram-ı Veli Mosque, located next to the
Augustus temple. This Mosque was built in the 15th century and was later
restored by the prominent Ottoman architect Sinan in the 16th century.
Following the Haci Bayram-ı Veli Mosque, last on our places of visit will be the
Roman Bath. Also known as the Bath of Caracalla, the complex displays the
typical features of a Roman Bath and was built in the 3rd century AD.
Tour will end around 19:00, and our guests will be dropped off at their desired
locations at Bilkent.
Note: Female visitors attending this tour are kindly requested to bring head
scarves to wear while visiting mosques, due to Islamic traditions.
Price: 50 TL, it includes transfers, an English speaking professional tourist guide
and museum entrances.
Lunch is not included in this price. However the guide will help to find a nice and
reasonable restaurant.
