The regular English-for-Foreigners Programme at the Language Training Centre is a complete programme, which constitutes four levels: Phase 1 – 4 and structures-of-English 1-4. The complete programme is a full-time course, which lasts from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday to Thursday. There is a part-time option with conversation at 10:00a.m. – 12:00 noon or grammar from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. depending on the student’s choice of course. The morning sessions emphasize conversation while structural and written exercises taken in the afternoon. Each of the four levels of the programme lasts one term.

On conclusion of the four levels of the complete programme, the student should be able to converse, read and write like an educated native speaker of English. Students completing the part-time programme of their choice are expected to accommodate their option to this aim of the Centre and thus eventually achieve the near-native competency of the full-time programme.

An additional course is offered for those who would like to attain University standard written competency. This is the Mastery-of –English course, which may be followed by a TOEFL or GCE exam, if so required. The former is set for universities in the USA and the latter is set by Cambridge

University in England.

It is estimated the required time for completion of the entire programme is between fifteen and eighteen months. Applicants with previous knowledge of the language may be able to complete the course in less time. Students receive certificates on successful completion of levels two, three, four and Mastery.

The dates for up-coming courses are: Spring Term: January 12 to April 9, 2011; Summer Term:

April 28- July 2, 2011. The Centre can assist students with accommodation arrangements and transportation from the airport.
