PAWS ANNUAL REPORT ON AWARENESS & CAMPAIGN 2012-13
(April 2012 to March 2013)
A) AWARENESS & RALLIES:
April 2013:
# Team PAWS comprising of staff members Nilesh Bhanage & Poonam Bomble
conducted an Awareness program cum Animal Interaction on 10th April 2013 @
Lokpuram Public School, Thane along with Rotary Club of Dombivli Sun City. Over 200
students from 5th standard enjoyed 'Compassionate Citizen' movie followed by question
& answer round. PAWS every year reaches to more then 5,000 students & conducts
awareness programs on Animal Rights, Wildlife Conservation & Animal Welfare free-ofcost.
June 2013:
#PAWS Founder Nilesh along with volunteers Mandar Sawant, Sanchit More & Raj
Maru organized an Awareness Program @ Rotary Club of Dombivli East on 24th July
2013, followed by question & Answer round. PAWS Founder Nlesh gave brief
presentation on Snake Species found in dombivli n surrounding areas, Snake bite
Management, Myths on snakes while mandar gave info. Cruelty on snakes, his
experience handling cruelty cases to members.
#Founder of PAWS Nilesh - called by SIES College of Management Studies, Nerul, NewBombay to deliver talk on 'Social Sensitization among youth. Nilesh shown video
presentation as well as gave brief on how PAWS was formed, under which
circumstances it flourished etc.
MBA Students asked question from slaughter house, till adoption, from cruelty till pet
shops nilesh gave info. one by one. One of the most memorable event this month.
August 2013:
## On Saturday, 10th August 2013, PAWS Team-mates Mandar Sawant, Nilesh
Bhanage & Sanchit More along with Rotary Club of Dombivli Sun-City conducted
awareness program @ Swami Vivekananda School, Ramchandra Nagar on SNAKES.

While Mandar shared experience of dealing with Snake Charming..followed by question
& answer round.. Over 250 students benefited with awareness program. Below are the

## On 15th August 2013, - Independence Day, Team PAWS participated in FREEDOM
RALLY organized @ Phadke Road in Dombivli. Team PAWS carried Indian Dogs adopted
in rally with Theme 'Adopt Indian Dogs - They Are Breed A Part'. Team PAWS consisting
of volunteers Frenny Patole, Tejaswita Dere, Sanchit More, Raj Maru, Bhaskar Iyer,
Nilesh Bhanage & Pratima Datar participated in Rally.
Over 300 participated in this rally with different causes wch was organized by PAWS
Volunteer Alisha's event management company.
September 2013:
## Kids Visiting Murbad Center:
2nd September was one of the most memorable day in history of PAWS. over 17 school
kids visited PAWS Murbad Rescue Center with their respective parents. Many of the
kids interacted with hospital-In-Mates. Many got bread for donkeys & biscuits for dogs.
PAWS thankful to volunteer Pratima Kasture-Datar for helping in event. PAWS founder
Nilesh also taken kids to barvi dam & also done some bird watching wth them.
October 2013:
## On 3rd October, 2013 PAWS Founder Nilesh & volunteer Varsha Deshpande &
Nilesh’s 5 years old little daughter Dishita along with staff members Pratima Kasture &
Poonam Bomble conducted an awareness program cum animal interaction session with
pre-school children @ Rainbow Kids Campus today morning along with Rotary Club of
Sun-City. Children aged 3 to 6 interacted with Cat, Rabbit, Guinea Pig today. Thanks to
PAWS volunteer Anusharee for giving her Guinea Pig for our program. Dishita handled
pet cat Bitty very well & taught children how to pat animals as well as handle them.
Many children were overjoyed looking & TOUCHING various animals. All the animals
that student seen were already rescued & adopted. Pre-School Director Varsha Shah
also helped in making arrangements.
We also made sure that animals are not traumatized as well as given rest &
provided water. The workshop ended with spreading the message among kids Animals are part our life! Lets care them!
## 4th October 2013, is celebrated as World Animal Day...
PAWS has been requested by St. Xavier's School, Airoli, New-Bombay to conduct an
Awareness session for students of school. PAWS Founder Nilesh & volunteer Raj Maru
conducted the awareness session, Played Compassionate Citizen Video followed by
Question & Answer rounds. Over 600 students benefited from our awareness efforts!
December 2013:
## Team PAWS organized Animal Interaction program @ Brain-Works Pre-School on
10th December 2013. PAWS volunteers Sanchit, Nilesh & Poonam interacted with
children. They taught how to take care of pets. It was a very successful event. PAWS
Team made sure those animals doesn't go under stress! Over 70 pre-school kids
benefited with this Program. Children wearing Animal's mascots enjoyed event.
## Yet another Animal Interaction program conducted by Team PAWS members
Poonam, Nilesh & Raj on 11th December 2013. Over 100 children how to care pets along
with handling them @ Tree-House Pre-School.
## 3rd Animal Interaction program conducted by Team PAWS members Poonam, Nilesh
& Bhaskar on 12th December 2013. Over 100 children how to care pets along with
handling them @ Tree-House Pre-School.
We educated about 'PETS' to over 270 kids in total in 3 days.
January 2014:
## Awareness @ Andaman Islands:
PAWS Founder Nilesh been called by Dr. S. Shivkumar (Mvsc & LPM) Director of
Directorate of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services, Andaman & Nicobar
Administration for conducting Mass Awareness Programs in National Animal Welfare
Fortnight - January 2014. The awareness program include Animal Welfare & Animal
Rights also Plant based Diet related films shown 2 students. Films include 'Plastic Cow',
'Compassionate Citizen', 'Beauty Without Cruelty', Presentation on 'Veganism - Hard
Fact' & Trailer of Film 'Aajoba' - A film showing Human-Leopard Conflicts (PAWS is now
official Charity Partner of this film) were screened for different age group students...
Massive campaign posters were displayed all across city mentioning PAWS logo. Also
Rally organized by students, Bird feeding, Tree Plantation & essay competition was also
organized during fortnight. NGO's Friendicos SECA, Pashu-pakshi Samrakhan Trust &
PAWS together conducted event. Special Thanks to Dr. Geeta Gladson (B.V.Sc) for her
Initiative. In the history of this islands never such mass programs conducted in past.
this is 2nd year when Dr. Geeta & undersigned taken initiative to reach masses.
Total 3,604 students benefited by this initiative covering 8 schools @ Port-Blair
and from standards 1 till 10th.

B] PROJECTS & INTERNSHIPS WITH PAWS:
December 2013:
## 5 Interns from SIES College of Management Studies, Nerul-Navi Mumbai joined for 1
week's internship with PAWS. PAWS founder gave them brief about History,
achievements & day-to-day work of PAWS!
Interns also participated in Anti-Rabies Drive, took merchandise stock at office,
accompanied Ambulance while rescue, came to see our daily snake rescues as well.
Below are some pics of Interns enjoying the work! Every year PAWS at-least receives 25
to 30 different youngsters who visit PAWS for their Internships, Projects. PAWS always
helped students in their internships so that in near future they can serve to society as
compassionate citizen.

January 2014:
## Visitor From France
Mr. Estienne Rodary a geographer specialized in biodiversity conservation policies who
is currently working with the Urban Protected Areas Network, which brings together
protected area managers, local authorities, civil society and researchers to collaborate
on urban nature issues, who visited PAWS Office today & interacted with PAWS
Founder Nilesh & wildlife rescuers of PAWS - Mandar & Sanchit. Nilesh narrated about
history & beginning of PAWS and current projects under-taken by organization.
## Speaker @ Asia For Animals Conference 2014, Singapore
PAWS Founder Nilesh was in Singapore 2 attend Asia for Animals Conference 2014
between 12th to 19th January. Nilesh along with Mary of Singapore Volunteer Outreach
conducted the workshop for 'Working With Volunteers'. In 2 hours workshop Nilesh
explained the attendee with how PAWS efficiently worked with volunteers followed by
question & answer round & worksheets for NGO's to discuss & develop their volunteerships. This time, 330 animal advocates from over 30 countries/territories representing
over 150 organizations were in Singapore to make a difference for animals, by taking
part in the Asia for Animals Conference 2014.
The Asia for Animals (AFA) Conference is the largest, most representative Asian animal
welfare conference. The conference is organized by the Asia for Animals (AFA) Coalition:
The AFA Coalition is composed of 14 well-known and respected animal welfare
organizations that have a shared focus on the welfare of animals in Asia. This dynamic
conference is a platform for animal welfare experts, members of the public and
government officials to consolidate and share experiences, with an eye to developing
new strategies and facilitating long-term change.
Conference held @ Furama Riverfront Hotel, Singapore & all participants served with
Vegan Food.

Awards Plays an important part, it motivate an individual & encourages to do more
work & also motivates other to follow the same. It also increases the capacity of
individual in their respective fields.
## Animal Welfare Awards Function:
CEO of PAWS Nilesh & Manasi being President of PAWS, attended the first & unique
kind of PAWSitive People's Awards function held on 22nd September 2013 @ The blue
Sea, Worli. This event was organized by Farzana Behram Contractor to appreciate the
animal welfare people. The categories includes Genuine & Ethical Breeder with welfare
aspects, Best Vety. Doctor, Best Pet Shop, Best Groomer, Animal Rescuer, NGO & also
very important - Dog who saved many lives in 9/11 @ Taj.
The event was attended by many page three celebrities of Mumbai include Aditya
Hitkari & Divya Palat, Minister Jayant Patil, Simone Singh, Raell Padamsee, Madhoo,
Dr. Batra, Dolly Thakore, Bachi Karkariya, RJ Malishka, Smita Jaikar, Sabira
Merchant, Bikram Saluja, Pralhad Kakkar, Brinda Miller, Aarti & Kailash Surendranath
& Pritish Nandy.

##PLANT & ANIMALS WELFARE SOCIETY (P.A.W.S.) HONORED AS 2013 TOPRATED NONPROFIT
New GreatNonprofits.org Award is Based on Positive Online Reviews
Dombivli, Maharashtra (11-09-2013) – PAWS announced today that it has been
honored with a prestigious 2013 Top-Rated Award by Great Nonprofits, the leading
provider of user reviews about nonprofit organizations.
“We are excited to be named a Top-Rated 2013 Nonprofit,” says Nilesh Bhanage,
Founder of PAWS. We are proud of our accomplishments this year, including starting
new ambulance, successfully running Animal Rescue Center in Murbad for 3 years,
winning 6 awards in 2006 & more important reaching & giving help to 2102 no. of
animals in distress.
The Top-Rated Nonprofit award was based on the large number of positive reviews that
PLANT & ANIMAL WELFARE SOCIETY (PAWS) received – reviews written by volunteers,

## on 22nd March 2014, PAWS Founder Nilesh was recognized & felicitated by RddhiSiddhi Educational Trust for his valuable contribution in serving the Community
through Animal Welfare.

September 2013:
## Wildlife Photography Exhibition with 503 visitors:
Wildlife Photography Exhibition of PAWS with Rotract Club K. V. Pendharkar College
held on Wednesday - 4th September 2013 between 10:00 AM till 5:00PM @ Auditorium,
KV Pendharkar College, Dombivli MIDC, Dombivli (East). Excited to share some
information related to our Wild-Trek - 2nd Wildlife Photography Exhibition. There was
a small section on Awareness on Wildlife Protection Act 1972, with lots of posters from
TRAFFIC India. News paper cutting mentioning some amazing facts on Wildlife also
were displayed there. Over 181 photographs will be on display & we thank wholekindheartedly to following 21 photographers who has donated lovely & rare picture of
India's Wildlife...

Subramanian visited & volunteer this event from PAWS.
Total 503 Visitors were there in 1 day @ Event including 402 Students, 18

February 2014:
In February month Team PAWS participated in various Bird Count Programs which
includes
Water Bird Census, Ulhas River
Big Bird Day, Mahteran
Great Backyard Bird Count, Saat Pul, Dombivli
Reports of same made and submitted to concerned authorities & also published on
various E-Groups.
