BE on time : Lateness to class will not be tolerated. Lateness is defined as; not being in the assigned seat PRIOR to the ringing of the late bell.

Discipline for lateness to class is as follows:

1 st

late – warning

2 nd

late – 30 minute detention (before or after school)

3 rd late – office referral, central detention, phone call to parent

HAVE RESPECT for others and their property. Always ask for something before you assume the right to take it. Do not take anything without the permission of its owner.

Say please and thank you. Do not use inappropriate language. Do not speak or leave your seat while someone else is speaking. It is rude and uncalled for when you get up to throw something away, to get a tissue, or to sharpen your pencil while someone is speaking. Wait until they are done with what they have to say before moving.

MARKING PERIOD GRADES include the following:

Tests – 40%

Quizzes/Participation Grade – 30%

Homework – 15%

Interval Assessments – 15%

GRADING

Tests and Quizzes – Cell phones will be collected prior to every test/quiz/interval assessment-failure to turn in cell phone will result in a ten point deduction. Tests/quizzes must be made up within FIVE days when missed due to absence. They can be made up before or after school ONLY . No test or quiz will be made up during the school day.

Any test or quiz not made up within the specified time earns the student a zero. It is possible to earn points back on a test or quiz. If an earned grade is below a 77, a student can come before or after school for extra help and earn up to 10 points back on their test grade.

Interval Assessments – will be given at approximately 30 day intervals throughout the semester. They will cover all material from the beginning of the semester until what is covered directly prior to the assessment date.

Participation - The participation grade includes being prepared for class, being on time for class, completing the homework assignments, having an up-to-date notebook, proper behavior, and attendance (even if excused) . At the end of the week all deductions will be totaled and a final grade for the week will be determined. This will be given a percentage and count as a quiz grade for the marking period.

Notebook - A student’s notebook must include:

Do – Nows

Daily Objectives

Daily Notes

EVERY note, example problem, definition, chart, do-now, and class project must be kept in the student’s notebook. Every new set of notes is to be dated with the date at the top of each page. You will be tested on your notebook at the end of each marking period. It may be preferable to use separate sections for each of the categories above. IT IS THE

STUDENT’S RESPONSIBILITY TO GET ANY NOTES MISSED DUE TO

ABSENCE . If you are absent you must get the notes you have missed FROM

ANOTHER STUDENT in your class. No one will be excused from a notebook quiz because of an absence.

All missed notes and assignments must be made up immediately after an absence. If you do not have YOUR notebook on the day of the notebook quiz, you will receive a zero for that quiz . Your notebook is to be kept orderly, up-to-date and be brought to class every day.

HOMEWORK : Homework will be collected daily. Homework is to be dated and numbered . It will be collected daily and MUST BE MADE UP WHEN ABSENT

WITHIN FIVE DAYS.

Homework is part of the marking period grade and only counts when all of the assignment has been attempted. Completed and correct homework = 100, completed and mostly correct homework = 85, completed and little correct or partially completed and little correct = 75, not completed = 0.

If any part of an assignment is not understood, extra help is available at 7:00 in the morning, every morning, until homeroom begins or at the end of the school day

Monday and Thursday . Remember that homework assignments may be part of the notebook quiz.

ONCE AGAIN, IT IS THE STUDENT’S RESPONSIBILITY TO LOOK IN THE

ASSIGNMENT FOLDER, WHENEVER ABSENT, TO GET MISSED CLASS

AND HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS AND TO MAKE UP ANY NOTES,

ASSIGNMENTS, TESTS OR QUIZZES WITHIN FIVE DAYS OF BEING

ABSENT. ANY WORK NOT MADE UP WITHIN THAT TIME WILL EARN

THE STUDENT A ZERO AND CANNOT BE MADE UP AT A LATER DATE.

ALL HOMEWORK AND CLASS WORK ASSIGNMENTS ARE POSTED ON

GENISIS DAILY AND WILL BE IN THE ASSIGNMENT FOLDER FOR THEIR

CLASS.

PROBLEMS OF THE WEEK (POW)

POW will be made available on Mondays and must be returned by that week’s Friday.
