Happening Today
There will be a brief meeting of all ROTC Cadets going to Atlanta Tuesday at
3:00pm in the ROTC room.
Prom Breakfast Tickets will go on sale today during lunch. The cost is $2.00 a person
or $3.00 a couple. What a bargain.
This Week’s Events
The last Drivers Ed Class of the year will begin on Tuesday, April 23rd. You can sign
up before and after school for the rest of this week. Only 35 students will be accepted.
Seniors: the make up date for cap and gown pictures is Friday, April 19th. Please
sign up on the front counter. Pictures will be taken during fourth period. If you have not
turned in your order form from the previous sitting please do so as soon as possible. You
may put them in Coach Carroll’s mailbox.
The Cougar Clause will be selling Last Will and Testaments to seniors during lunch
beginning April 17th. Testaments are due to a staff member or Mrs. Wilson no later than
April 23rd. The cost to have your’s published in the last edition of the Cougar Clause is
fifty cents. What a bargain.
APT will meet Wednesday after school.
Cheerleading workouts will begin Wednesday, April 17th through Friday April 19th
from 3:15 until 5:00. Tryouts will be on Tuesday and Wednesday, April 23rd and 24th.
More info will follow.
Prom tickets are on sale through Thursday, April 25th before and after school. Cash
only! No tickets will be sold during the school day. The tickets are $20 for seniors and
$30 for everyone else. Tickets will not be sold for guests that do not attend RCHS
without the signed permission form. Forms are located in the office. Please have them
filled out and returned to Mrs. Burroughs by Friday April 12th. See Mrs. Cross with
questions.
Attention all ROTC Cadets: Military Ball tickets are on sale during lunch for $5.00
through Thursday the 18th. The price will go up to $10 after the 18th. The ball is May 4th.
School News
Health Science II Students are reminded to turn in your applications for Nursing
Fundamentals to Mrs. Harris as soon as possible.
Anyone interested in life guarding or teaching swim lessons this summer at RCHS
should submit an application to Coach Peck by May 1st. Applications will be
available in the front office. You must have current lifeguard and CPR for the
Professional Rescuer certifications. If you have questions, please email Coach Peck.
Shai Williams is selling raffle tickets for Caleb’s Squad for her senior project. The
cost is $1.00 per ticket. See Shai to purchase your ticket.
App State College Tour Permission slips are available for juniors with a 3.5 GPA or
higher. The trip is now open to sophomores with a GPA of 3.7 or higher. The trip has
been rescheduled for April 30th. See Ms. Wallin or your guidance counselor. Permission
slips are due Friday the 26th.
During the months of April the media center will have a Creative Corner to show
off the creativity of RCHS Students. Drop off your drawings or poems in the media
center before Spring Break in order for them to be displayed.
Students, the following bathrooms should be open during lunch; Men’s and
Women’s bathrooms math, science, and business halls. Check with a nearby teacher to
let you in if they are locked.
Sophomores and juniors should check Canvas for info about UNC Charlotte summer
camps for all types of majors from motor sports to art.
Stop by the media center and check out all the new books. They are displayed on top
of the book shelves.
Upcoming Events
The HOPE Club will be holding a Bunny Bowl on April 25th after school. See Ms.
Barrier for more information.
The RCHS Classes of 1986, 1987, and 1988 are all invited to a picnic at Lake Reidsville

Senior News
Seniors, remember to bring your college acceptance letters and scholarship info to Ms.
Wallin.
Seniors attending RCC next fall will be going on an all day college tour on April 25th.
Get your permission slip from Ms. Wallin. They are due back April 23rd.

Seniors: be sure to check the headline on the web site labeled “Very Important
Senior Dates”. All the dates for senior events prior to and including graduation are
listed. There is an orange sheet on the front counter that every senior should pick up. It
has the dates along with other information regarding the events.
If you are planning to attend one of the 16 public colleges or universities in NC then
you may apply for the SECU People Helping People Scholarship. Applications are due
April 19th and only requires a resume’ and signature. See Ms. Wallin for the application.
Planning to attend any college in the fall? Then apply for the Cougar Staff
Scholarship. There will be multiple winners including one for a four year college
student and a community college student. You can also win the Dorm Room Items in Ms.
Wallin’s office. Apply by April 19, 2013 and see Ms. Wallin for the application.
If you are a member of FCA at least 2 years and have earned 2 varsity letters you
can apply for the Coca Cola Athletic Impact Scholarship. See Ms. Wallin for an
application. Applications are due April 19th.
If you attended Bethany Elementary School and now attend RCHS there is a
scholarship for you. The requirements are: you plan to attend either a community
college or four year university in the fall, your gpa is 3.2 or higher, and your SAT is 1000
or higher. See Ms. Wallin for an application. Applications are due April 26th.
Apply for the Mildred Waynick Memorial Scholarship today. The requirements are:
financial need, senior at RCHS, and a strong academic record. See Ms Wallin for your
application. Applications re due April 22nd.
Planning on being a teacher and attending a four year college or university in the
fall? Then apply for the Alpha Delta Kappa Scholarship. See Ms. Wallin for an
application. Applications are due May 6th for this $750 scholarship.
