Institutional – Specific Information
With the inception of the trust Vidya Vikas Mandal, Taluka Sakri, Dist. Dhule, it
established the Arts and Commerce College, Sakri with an aim to eradicate illiteracy, to
spread higher education and upliftment of the society in June 1971. In the decade of
seventies there was not a single college in this area except Dhule. Even Dhule was the
tribal district of Maharashtra and Sakri Taluka was the rural and tribal part in the district.
With the establishment of this college, as if a gate-way to higher education was opened to
the tribal area.
So this college is playing a vital role in developing proficiency,
competency, and cultural, national and social values through curricular, co-curricular and
extra-curricular activities since its establishment.
The college was affiliated to Pune University upto the inception of North
Maharashtra University, Jalgaon. It was renamed as Sitaram Govind Patil Arts, Science
and Commerce College, Sakri in 1982, after the name of Late Sitaram Govind Patil, the
veteran truth-seeker of Mahatma Phule, Chhatrapati Shahu and Dr.Ambedkar’s thought
tradition. The Science faculty was switched with the formerly Arts and Commerce
faculties on 11-6-1981.
This college has emerged as an esteemed and renowned educational institution in
North Maharashtra University arena.

Objectives
 To impart qualitative higher education.
 To achieve community & social development through infrastructural facilities of
the institution
 To impart qualitative higher education to the tribal students coming from hill-area
& remote area of Sakri Taluka as well as to the women section of the society to
fulfill the ideology of ‘Mahatma Phule’s Satyashodhak Samaj’
 To ensure & inculcate, sincerity & punctuality amongst the students so that they
contribute to the society & nation as most responsible & good citizens
 To aim overall personality development of the students through extracurricular
activities in association with various social & cultural organizations
 To provide a platform to the students, by giving them opportunities to face all the
changes of the competitive world with utmost utilization of their potential sports,
NCC, NSS & other cultural events
 To broaden the vision of the students so that the youths have a panoramic view of
the society
 To create human resources with modern view & foresight which can be used for
the well-being of the society & the development of the country
 To promote analytical & empirical research particularly the delicate problems
related to the society residing in the nearby areas
