Other Conditions and Criteria:
 The plants must not be resold, and must be used for the intended purpose at the site specified in the application.
Plants can be used to rehabilitate open or harvested areas, to control erosion, create a windbreak or buffer,
naturalize a shoreline, or create wildlife habitat.
 Site preparation may be required by the landowner. There must be a reasonable expectation that properly
planted trees will survive.
 Recipients must agree to make a reasonable effort to control weeds or other competing species around the
young plants, and provide adequate watering in the event of summer drought conditions, to help the plants get
established.
 Landowners must agree to allow randomly selected post-planting inspections and survivability surveys to be
conducted by Stewardship Council representatives. Landowners will be contacted in advance to verify timing.
Additional Information:
Only plants native to Ontario and in the appropriate seed zone are supplied through this program. Landowners ordering
in excess of 500 plants may be eligible to borrow special tree planting equipment, and may also be eligible for
volunteer assistance with planting and tending. All orders include a series of fact sheet on handling, planting and
tending techniques, pest control, species selection, and a variety of other related topics.
TO PLACE AN ORDER:
Complete the form on the back of this sheet and return it by email or mail. Applications are reviewed by an
Approval Committee in February, at which time confirmation notices are sent to qualified landowners. Orders are
usually distributed the first Friday in May (dependent on spring weather conditions) from a designated location (TBD),
and must be paid for in full before the plants leave the storage facility.
