My civilization’s Golden Age Pyramid
In this assignment, you will be creating your own civilization. You will be asked to use your imagination to illustrate the
rise and fall of an imaginary civilization using the Golden Age Pyramid. Be sure to follow all steps in the directions and
reference the grading rubric at the bottom to ensure that you are completing the assignment appropriately. Please see
Ms. Hunt if you have any questions while working on this assignment.
Paper and Resources
- You will be given a piece of long paper. You only get one piece, so write in pencil first then go back over your
pencil with other writing utensils (marker, colored pencil, pen). Fold your paper once in half. (“Hamburger
Style”)
- You may use any coloring/ writing utensils in the classroom, as well as rulers, highlighters, and other resources
available at the Supply Station.
- Cut out the rubric below and glue it to the bottom of the backside of your poster.
Create an imaginary civilization
- Give the civilization a name.
- On the top half/ left side of your poster, write the name of your civilization.
Create a Golden Age Pyramid graphic organizer for your civilization
- This should be completed on the top half/ left side of your paper.
- Be sure to include the following:
a. The Rise to Power: Explain cultural, political, and economical changes that happen as your society rises
to power. Be specific in how each of these things happen.
b. The Golden Age: Explain your time of peace, prosperity, and power.
c. The Fall from Power: Give three reasons why your society fell and is no longer a powerful society.
d. Include illustrations on all three sides of your pyramid. You should have 3 illustrations for the rise, 2 for
the Golden Age, and 3 for the fall.
- Everything should be written in ink in your final draft.
Civilization Story
- On the bottom/ right side of your poster, write a story or informational text that explains the Golden Age of your
imaginary society.
- This should be a detailed telling of your rise, golden age, and fall from power. Someone should be able to
recreate your Golden Age Pyramid just by reading your text.
- This should be at least 4 paragraphs long.
