 Education and youth
 How Heritage Vessels promote economic development
 Museum and Recreation Industries – how they overlap
 How do Museum people support Trades-people? In some cases we are preserving
crafts that are currently happening
 Les Bolton – Historic Vessels and the Film Industry
o How to communicate about these vessels?
o Movie sets bring $150k to area EACH DAY of filming
o Potential event in July for film industry people to visit Seattle Area, how
to we get in on this?
o Les is the March Third Friday Speaker at CWB! March 19th, 7pm
 Events that are happening from now until the Festival
 Volunteers, Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP)
Transportation Issues
 SLU Chamber Members are invited to attend an SDOT subcommittee meeting on
street parking. 1:00 Fred Hutch, Kim has information about the event
Olympia Update from Betsy
 Grant Program for Historic Vessels Funding
o Didn’t make it out of Senate Ways and Means Committee
o Will be a line item in the Senate Capital Budget
o Language needs defining
o Need a better idea of a broader range of ships that might be involved
o What are the qualifications?
o Meeting in Olympia to work on details
Betsy is going to Washington DC
 Part of Preservation Lobby Day
 Washington Trust, BIG issues this year.




Save America’s Treasures and Preserve America have both been zeroed out –
Senate and House both need to push back
Heritage Area Budget cut in half

 Signed the contract for the Lightship project!
o Old Tacoma Marine will be the Project Managers
o Three project Phases
 Request for bids for phase one – environmental concerns
o Panel review will chose contractors
o Phase two will include deck replacement, wood is currently curing, at least
one year out
