ABSTRACT DEADLINE EXTENDED: Monday, May 6, 2013, 5:00 pm CST
Submission Guidelines
1. Please read and check each box below indicating you have read, understand, and agree to the guidelines presented:
Abstracts must be original, i.e. non-published work.
Abstracts should be written in proper English (American or British usage is accepted, but not a mixture of these).
Use decimal points (not commas). Please carefully check your spelling, as submitted abstracts will not be reviewed
prior to publication.
An abstract must have a title that indicates the nature of the investigation. Capitalize each word in the title except
for terms that usually appear lowercase, such as prefixes to chemical names (Title Case).
Example: The Current Clinical Use of HPV Genotyping
Do not use abbreviations in the title of the abstract, with the exception of DNA, RNA, and HPV. Standard
abbreviations may be used without definition in the text. Nonstandard abbreviations (kept to a minimum) must be
placed in parentheses after the first use of the word or phrase being abbreviated.
Each abstract submission must clearly identify the following:
Objectives: an introductory sentence indicating the purpose of the study
Methods: a brief description of pertinent experimental procedures, including statistical evaluation where
appropriate
Results: a summary of the new, unpublished data
Conclusions: a statement of the conclusions
Learning Objective(s): objectives should include measurable verbs (i.e. identify, demonstrate). Note: the word
"understand" is not considered a measurable verb.
Example: Learners will be able to identify strategies of cancer centers to provide palliative care as a component
of quality cancer care.
Please note: The character count limit of 2,500 does not include your abstract title, author string, or learning
objective. The word limit does include spaces.
Within the title and text of the abstract, omit any reference to your institution to ensure a proper, blinded review.
Trade names should not be used in your abstract submission OR presentation, if accepted and selected.
IMPORTANT: If you indicate that your paper should be considered for oral presentation only, it will not be
considered for poster presentation.
Expenses associated with the submission and presentation of an abstract for an oral or poster presentations are
the responsibility of the presenter.
If you have a chart or graph, you need to send an email with the title of the abstract as the subject with the
attachment to Mandy Marneris (idsog@idsog). Limit of only one chart/graph and one picture per submission.
Abstract notification letters will be sent in late May.
