Around 80 primary school pupils donned their whites and descended on Horsham
Cricket Club on Friday 1st July.
The youngsters, from ten schools, were battling it out in the Mid Sussex region of
the Arundel Castle Youth Cricket Competition for a place the final.
The six teams from the Horsham District taking part were Southwater,
Billingshurst, Wisborough Green, Loxwood, Greenway and Leechpool. They were
joined by St Josephs, St Wilfreds, London Mead and Lindfield and were blessed
with one of the best weather days of the year.
The games were played to a maximum of ten overs each, and each player was
allowed to bowl a maximum of three overs each. Each six-a-side team played
three games to decided who would make the semi-finals.
In the semi-finals Lindfield beat Southwater while Greenway overcame St
Joseph’s. Then in a tight final Greenway were bowled out for 30, and then had
Lindfield four wickets down. Lindfield though held on to make the final at Arundel
