He was born in Macon County near Tuskegee on July 6th,1871. He moved with his father to Autauga County about 48 years ago. His mother died when he was quite young. His father married the second time. His stepmother,Mrs. Sara York Caldwell,survives him... The deceased while a boy joined the Liberty Baptist Church and was baptized by his father... But the dreaded Bright's Disease sapped his splendid manhood...And being confined to his bed only a short time last Thursday afternoon,May 30th, this most remarkable man passed into another world... Brantley Asbury Thompson was born in Macon,Ga.,September 5th,1848. He was reared in Elmore County. He joined the Methodist church in 1862. He was united in marriage to Miss Elizabeth Whatley Nov.30,1874. They moved to Prattville in 1896. Mrs. Thompson died in August,1920. To this union survive four daughters,Mrs. W.B. Durden,Mrs. Ulmer Johnson,Mrs. T.A. Thompson,of Prattville, and Mrs. H.D. Ussery,of Birmingham, and two sons,O.W. Thompson,of Prattville, and A.A.
