Explosion Limits (LEL): n.a.
UEL: n.a.
Extinguishing Media: Dry Chemical extinguishers such as Monoammonium Phosphate, Potassuim
Sulfate, potassium Chloride, additionally, carbon dioxide high expansion (Proteinic) chemical foam, water
spray for large fires.
Hazardous Decomposition Products: Water contamination will produce carbon dioxide. Do not re-seal
contaminated containers as pressure buildup may rupture them.
Firefighting Procedures: Wear seld-contained breathing apparatus with full facepiece operated in the
positive pressure demand mode.
Special Fire & Explosion Hazards: None
Section V – Health Hazard Information
Primary Route(s) of Entry: Inhalation, skin contact, and eye contact.
Effects of Acute Overexposure:
Eyes – Not irritating (rabbits) OECD guide lines.
Skin – Slight irritation, (rabbits) OECD guide lines.Pre-existing skin conditions can be aggravated by
use of this product.
Respiratory – May cause respiratory sensation in susceptible individuals. At room temperature
vapors are minimal due to low vapor pressure. If heated or sprayed as an aerosol,
excessiveconcentrations are attainable that could be hazardous on single exposure. Excessive
exposure may cause irritation of the eyes. Upper respiratory tract and lungs effects may be delayed.
2
Decreased ventilatory capacity has been associated with exposure to similar isocyanates. It is
possible that exposure to MDI may cause impairment of lung function.
Ingestion – Single dose oral toxicity is low, and unlikely to occur with normal handlng. Do not induce
vomiting. Consult physician immediately.
Section VI – Chemical Reactivity
Stability: Storage temperature (min/max) 65F (18C) to 75F (24C)
Incompatibility: Reactive with water. Containers should be tightly sealed to prevent moisture
contamination.
Conditions to Avoid: A nitrogen blanket should be used for bulk storage. Store at a temperature of 65F
to 75F protect from freezing..
Section VII – Spill Procedures
Small Spill: Absorb spilled product onto inert absorbent material.
Large Spill: Call PDL immediately. If a transportation spill notify Chemtrec (800-424-9300) evacuate and
ventilate spill area. Dike spill to prevent entry into the enviroment. Wear full protective equipment
including respiratory protection during clean up. If temporary control of Isocyanate vapor is required.
A blanket of protein foam may be placed over the spill. Large quantities may be pumped into closed
but not sealed containers for disposal.
Clean up: Decontaminate area using water/ammonia solution with 1-2% added detergent. Letting it stand
over affected area for at least 10 minutes. Cover mops, brooms, etc used for this with plastic and
dispose of properly (often by incineration).
Waste Disposal Method: Generally, material can be disposed in a local landfill, however, any disposal
practice must be in compliance with local, state, or federal agency. For further information, contact
your local waste agency or the United States Environmental Protection Agency's RCRA hotline
(1-800-424-9346)
Section VIII – Special Protection Information
Respiratory Protection: Use an approved respirator with dust protection, replace dust filters often.
Ventilation: Access to fresh air is important, but avoid any ventilation procedures which will produce
unnecessary air-borne dust.
Gloves: If necessary, any latex, rubber, nitrile, neoprene or other type of water-proof glove should provide
adequate protection.
Eye Protection: Wear face-shield or chemically-resistant goggles.
Other Protective Equipment: Wear appropriate work clothing to prevent skin contact. Wash clothing
before reuse. Eye wash station and safety shower should be available.
Section IX – Special Precautions
Handling and Storing: storage tmeperature 65F to 75F. average shelf like is 6 months from date of mfg.
Section X – Special Precautions
Precaution in handling and storage if contamination of the MDI is suspected. Do not re-seal container
because of possible rupture due to pressure buildup. Always slowly vent container when opening to relieve
any pressure buildup.
This product has been reviewed according to the EPA Hazard Categories promulated under SARA,
Sections 311 and 312 and is considered a hazardous chemical and a delayed health hazard.
