Geological Walk - Slateford and the Dells with Beverly Bergman,
Edinburgh Geological Society
A walk to discover many of the rivers geological features including
Carboniferous sediments, glacial features and fossils. Meet at the
Water of Leith Visitor Centre at 2.00pm. Booking Essential £2
member / £4 non members
Sunday 7th April – River Clean Up.
Join our volunteer team for this river clean up day, wear old clothes.
Meet at 10.00am at the Water of Leith Visitor Centre. FREE.
Saturday 4th May – PLANT SALE
Visit our now famous annual plant sale and pick up a bargain. Doors
open at 10.00 at the Visitor Centre. 50p admission donation.
Sunday 26th May – Natural Wonders of the Dells
During Scotland’s Nature Festival join us for a wander through the
natural jewel of the Water of Leith, discovering history and wildlife of
the Dells. £4 (members £2) BOOKING ESSENTIAL. Meet at 2.00pm
in the Car park under Gillespie bridge in Colinton, off Bridge Road,
walking to the Visitor Centre in Slateford
Sunday 28th July – The Great Lade Trail
Let us ‘lade’ you astray on this guided walk from Dean Bridge to
Canonmills discovering the route of Edinburgh’s Great Lade, along
with the social and natural heritage of this beautiful part of the river.
Meet at 2.00pm on the old bridge in Dean Village, on Bells Brae off
Queensferry Road. £4 (members £2) BOOKING ESSENTIAL
Sunday 25th August – I Leith
Discover the watery side of Leith on this guided walk through the
history and redevelopment of the rivers most turbulent area. Meet at
outside on the Shore outside Malmaison Hotel at 2.00pm. £4

The Horrid History of the Water of Leith
Journey back though 1000 years of life by the river. A treasure
trail of enactments, activities and hands on fun, as we unearth
the armies, farmers, millers, and revolutionaries...do not forget
the witches and grave robbers. Families can join in the event
by purchasing a MAP for £10. 12.00 to 4.00

Sunday 29th September – Autumn Colours from Roseburn
to Dean Village Walk
A guided walk through the river heartland; discover the
woodlands of the beautiful Bell’s Mill area and learn the history
of Dean Village £4 (members £2) BOOKING ESSENTIAL. Meet
at 2.00pm at the Entrance to walkway on Roseburn Cliff off
Corstorphine Road nr Murrayfield

Explore Edinburgh’s hidden natural asset – the Water of Leith.
Visit our fantastic interactive exhibition on the river’s heritage
and wildlife. See river life in our ‘video well and through the
bioscope. Control the water, cause a flood and try to stop the
giant waterwheel. Then head for the walkway to complete the
encounter.
