Stéphane Chenard Born in Paris in 1965. Attended the Institute for Political Studies, 1984. Assistant editor of Interavia Space Markets, a Jane's Information Group trade publication, 1988-91. Joined Euroconsult in 1992. Currently a senior associate consultant, particularly in charge of the due diligence assessments Euroconsult performs on satellite projects for or in relation with the financial community and of research on emergent markets and the defense sector. Until 2002, also served as editor and principal author of Euroconsult's World Space Market Survey multi-client report series (annual), for which he developed a large part of the forecasting methodology and continues to perform in-depth research on all satellite application markets, with special emphasis on Asia, Africa and the Middle East. Researched and wrote several chapters in successive editions of this study and of Euroconsult's Government Space Programs, in the latter case on countries in Asia and the Middle East. Researched and wrote Euroconsult's comprehensive study on Military Satellite Communications in 2014. Other publications include Space Directory of Russia (1993), Space Industries and Markets in Russia and Other Countries of the Former Soviet Union (4 volumes, 1994), of Asia-Pacific Satellite Communications and Broadcasting Market Opportunities: Prospects to 2005 (403 pages, 1995) and Asia-Pacific Space Programs and Industry: Prospects to 2005 (201 pages, 1995), all published by Euroconsult, as well as occasional articles in Via Satellite, a U.S. trade magazine, and presentations at numerous industry conferences around the world. Performed numerous consulting assignments to assess future satellite application markets, investment risks and business plans for clients including • Satellite manufacturers (Thales Alenia Space, EADS Astrium, Lockheed Martin Corp., Loral or their predecessors); • Satellite operators (Yahsat, Vinasat, Thuraya, Intelsat, SES, NahuelSat S.A., Measat Satellite Systems, Iridium Communications, Inmarsat, O3b Networks, ABS, Avanti Communications, Nilesat, Qatar Satellite Co., Asiasat, APT Satellite, OverHorizon, Satmex and others). Led a detailed study of Earth observation markets in Asia, the Middle East and Africa for commercial investors in 2008; • Satellite service providers and pay-television operators (Astro All Asia Networks, Horizon Satellite Services, SpeedCast and others); • Financial institutions (HSBC, UBS Securities, Blackstone, KKR, Carlyle Group, Apax Partners, Permira, ABN AMRO, Standard Chartered Bank, Crédit Lyonnais, Société Générale, BNP Paribas, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the World Bank and others); • Government bodies (Centre National d'Etudes Spatiales, the European Space Agency, the French ministry of Industry, the Science and Technology Agency of Japan and the United Arab Emirates Armed Forces). Taught history and business administration, as applied to the space and satellite service markets, at France's Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers and at similar institutions in France, South Korea and Senegal. Also serves as a special advisor to the Global VSAT Forum, a non-profit trade association of satellite communication companies, in charge of monitoring market developments around the world.
