INFORMATION Attendance to the day is FREE. All participants must complete a Registration Form which should be received by Junior Guildhall no later than 12 October 2009. The day is intended for students aged between 8 and 18 who already play the viola as well as beginners and students of other instruments who would like to come and try out the viola. Participants may also bring along their parents and/or teachers who will be able to attend the events in the Music Hall and Lecture Recital Room (space allowing) – please indicate their names on the Registration form so that we know how many people are attending. Please note that we do not provide supervision for participants attending the day outside the scheduled events listed on their individual timetable so would recommend that younger children are accompanied. All participants will be involved in the healthy musician workshop, brain gym workshop and will be listening to the short recital given by Prunella Pacey. The events from 1430 will actively involve those Grade 5 and above but all visitors to the day are welcome to observe these events. Participants will receive an individual schedule which will be emailed a week before the event. There will be trade stands for purchasing instruments and accessories and participants will also receive a discount voucher for the Barbican Chimes Music Shop located 5 minutes walk from the Guildhall School. We will be taking some photographs to record the event. These will only be used for Guildhall School publicity purposes and will not contain student’s names. Students do not have to perform in the masterclass unless you complete the box on the form but we will aim to accommodate as many students as possible in the given time. Please remember to bring your instrument, music and piano part (accompanists will be provided for the masterclasses/workshops). Students who have been selected to play in the masterclasses will be informed in advance. Performance Workshop Grades 1 – 4 Students who are grade 4 or below will have a chance to perform in the performance workshop which will be an informal class including some solo items and a group piece. Again students are encouraged state on the form the piece they are happy to perform to the group (with or without piano accompaniment) and as many as possible of those who wish to perform a solo will be accommodated. Folksong Workshop The folksong workshop is primarily aimed at students of about Grade 5 – 6 who will be studying the Three Northumbrian Folk Songs by Margot Wright. If you would like to perform in this class please indicate this on the form and we will send you a copy of the piece to be performed in the workshop in advance. Massed Viola Ensemble The work for the Massed viola Performance is Telemann 2nd Concerto for 4 violas. Music will be provided on the day for this class.
