How to Access Online Newspapers, Magazines, and More
1. www.sailsinc.org Login to use databases. See Mrs. Love or Mrs. Tucker for your own library
card number (required to request materials or access your account). Otherwise, use this number:

Okay, now you’re facing a list of forty-something databases and eBooks. Where you go now
depends on the information you seek. Here are suggestions, but feel free to investigate others.
Biography Resource Center-- Articles from hundreds of print sources, including Contemporary
Authors, Encyclopedia of World Biography, Newsmakers, Contemporary Musicians, Historic World
Leaders, Notable Twentieth-Century Scientists, Contemporary Black Biography, and more.
Infotrac Student Edition—Designed for high school students, Infotrac is a good first choice for
hundreds of popular magazines including Art in America, Atlantic Monthly, Consumer Reports,
Newsweek, People, Popular Mechanics, Popular Science, Time, and US News and World Report.
General Reference Center Gold—A general interest database containing articles from magazines,
reference books, and newspapers. Find the latest current events, popular culture, the arts and
sciences, sports, hobbies, and more.
Literary Reference Center-- information on thousands of authors and their works. Includes
27,000 plot summaries, synopses and work overviews, 140,500 author biographies, 350 literary
journals, 54,000 poems, 14,500 short stories, 8400 classic texts, 4000 author interview and more.
Expanded Academic ASAP—From arts and the humanities to social sciences, science and
technology, this database meets scholarly research needs across all academic disciplines
Massachusetts NewsStand—Boston Globe, Boston Herald, New York Times, New York Times Book
Review and Magazine, Patriot Ledger (Quincy), Plymouth County Business Review (Pembroke),
Providence Journal , Standard Times (New Bedford), Wall Street Journal, and others
Newsbank— (alphabetized under Cape Cod Times, oddly) Special reports on current global topics

--Next to the search box, select “only documents with full-text”. You may have to choose
advanced search to get to this option.
--Many articles can be emailed to your home computer.
--Look for a print option that reformats and uses less paper.
