Psychodynamically or analytically
trained, with recognised and
validated post graduate
psychotherapy qualification

Minimum of four years training in
clinical work

Accreditation with UKCP, BPS, BPC
and/or BACP

Evidence of continuing professional
development as recommended by
the relevant professional body

Experience of clinical work with
clients who have been sexually and
emotionally abused whilst they were
children

Experience of clinical work with Irish
clients and an understanding of the
“Irish dimension” of the clinical work
undertaken by icap

Knowledge of relevant legislation
and its implications for clinical
practice

Good knowledge of a broad range of
psychological therapies and an
ability to articulate the value added
by psychotherapy to a wide range of
audiences
