Brief Description of Program:

The Women’s Health Branch provides funding to 10 of the State’s network of 20 high risk maternity clinics. Each clinic in the network is located in a hospital or health department staffed by obstetricians, nurses, social workers and nutritionists. The hospitals have inpatient services appropriate to the care of mothers and infants with medical complications (pediatricians, obstetricians, and other specialty physicians). Each clinic serves a multi-county area. The receipt of these funds is based upon the need for high risk maternity services in their catchment area.

Local health departments must meet program outcome objectives within the term of the contract, as specified in agreement addenda, in exchange for the funding. Non-local contractors have objectives outlined in their contracts. Objectives are tracked through program monitoring activities, and reports that are on file in the local health departments.

Non-local health departments (Tertiary centers) Funding: Application for funds follows the requirements of NC Administrative Code 10A NCAC 43C.0101-.0502 High Risk Maternity Clinic

Funds and High Risk Maternity Clinic Reimbursement Funds.
