WW2 Raid on St. Nazaire Docks: Spell-binding account of the famous
1942 attack on the U-Boat base (with the only docks in France big enough
to service the Tirpitz)….with clippings & photos of the ships & men who
took part in the raid, 6 Commem. covers incl. signed by U-Boat Command-er, ex-Colditz Commanders B.Stephens & Lord Newborough, also two
surviving commandoes. A real-life drama graphically & philatelically told.
WW2 D-Day -The silencing of the German Merville Gun battery: The
detailed story of the near-disastrous but heroic attack to clear German def-ences ahead of landings on Sword Beach, incl. 2 Commem. covers, one
signed by Lt. Col. Terence Otway, who led 150 men into the assault…
WW2 D-Day: A Commemorative reminder of events on 6.6.44 through
clippings, photos., ephemera, & also accounts relating to survivors, some
of whom have signed Commem. covers e.g. Major Gen. J. Moulton, Capt.
Baker-Davis, Gunner H. Harthill, “Ossie” Osborne, also a feature on Stan
Hollis V.C. & various items of correspondence. An insightful Lot alright.
WW2 D-Day - Pegasus Bridge: Detailed account of “arguably the most
perfect operation of the Normandy invasion”, with a silk cover signed by
J. Howard who lead the assault (+ Anniversary photo of him + interview).
WW2 D-Day - Pegasus Bridge & The Lovat Scouts: The successful
taking of Pegasus Bridge was heralded by bagpipes of Lord Lovat’s
Commando Brigade (his Highlander’s unit played a role in the op.), and
that very piper (B.Millin) has signed a Commemorative cover & postcard
in this amazimg collection. Full history is provided here along with other
Commem. covers signed by participants of the battle (including German!)
+ the radio operator who signalled the success, also the Colonel who cap-tured the German Major, & indeed Lord Lovat himself. Wow!
WW2 Around the Black Sea: Pages featuring 1941-43 battles for Odessa

for deciding these are from plate 11. The black has 2½ close margins, some
