We are looking forward to a fun and very successful year! IF YOU ARE NOT PLANNING ON MARCHING IN THE FALL, you will need to do two things before reading the rest of the information in this packet: 1. Students who plan to apply for an exemption should fill out the SPECIAL EXEMPTION from MARCHING BAND FORM (located on the band website at www.cvhsband.org – contact Mrs. Hall immediately if you need a hard copy of this form) and return it to Mrs. Hall by FRIDAY, JUNE 6th. Any form received after this date WILL NOT be considered and the student WILL NOT be exempt from Marching Band. 2. Return a $75 deposit (also due by Friday, June 6th) – PAYABLE TO WBB – to Mrs. Hall, which will apply towards your band payments for the 2014-2015 school year (“non-marcher” band payment for the 2014-2015 school year total $135.00. The remaining balance will be due when school begins in the fall)** Exemptions from marching band will only be granted to fall athletes whose sport activity directly conflicts with the marching band schedule, or for students with a medical condition that prevents them from participating (must be discussed with and approved by Mrs. Hall ahead of time). Keep this packet for reference – you will want to frequently check the schedule Each and every band member and parent plays a role in our success and we depend on your enthusiastic commitment and support! Parent volunteers are needed to make it all happen! Please see the enclosed form for volunteer opportunities and sign up to help. Incoming Class of ’18 parents are especially welcome and encouraged to be a part of this great group of people. A special word about volunteering for band …it is a WONDERFUL, relaxing way to get to know the program and people that will have a major impact on your student’s experience at CVHS. Volunteer assignments are arranged so that you can have as little or as much interaction with your student as is comfortable. Freshman parents, you are welcome, wanted and needed…past experience indicates that your student is going to LOVE being a part of the band so this is the perfect time to find out what it is all about. Get to know the other band parents! Sophomore, junior and senior parents – it is never too late to join in the fun! You may volunteer for the whole year, or for any number of days that fit into your busy schedule. We’d be delighted to hear from you if you have any questions, concerns or just want more information. Additional band payments not included at this time may be: marching shoes, socks, gloves, CVHS Spirit Wear, tuxedo shirts (for concert season) – many can be purchased through the WBB; more details to follow. Veteran marchers may not need to purchase any of these items – new marchers will need to purchase some. Concert season band fees may include instrument rental fees, spring trip payments (approx. $500-$800 per trip) and meal expenses. A deposit of $175, payable to CENTREVILLE HIGH SCHOOL is required by FRIDAY, JUNE 6th. The remaining balance of $160, payable to WBB, is due at the Back-to-Band meeting on MONDAY, AUGUST 11th. You may opt for a payment plan if these payment dates will not work with your budget– please do not hesitate to contact Mrs. Hall (Melissa.Hall3@fcps.edu) to work something out.
