EU Boat
Leonardo Partnership Programme
Agenda, 1st Thematic Seminar; Cork 2nd – 4th April 2014
Meitheal Mara is one of four partners in EU Boat, a Leonardo da Vinci learning
partnership funded under the EU Lifelong Learning Programme. These partnerships
allow similar organisations from across Europe to share good practice, discuss
problems and compare solutions on a particular topic.
The other partners in EU Boat are boat builders Albaola from Pasaia in the Basque
region of Spain (www.albaola.com) and Chantiers Tramasset from Le Tourne on the
Garonne in south west France (www.chantierstramasset.fr), plus local development
company Euclides based at Anderlecht in Belgium on the Brussels-Charleroi canal
(www.portsud.be).
Workshop themes
The project themes we will be exploring during these three days are:




Cross Sector Activities
Collaboration in a Team
Diffusion of Information
Event
The first three of these themes describe ways of working, and we are asking speakers
to bring these themes out with examples during their presentations. For instance, we
will use Meitheal Mara's Ocean to City festval as an example of an event that depends
on cross sector activities, collaboration and diffusion of information.

Collaboration with public sector partners
Port of Cork boardroom, 1030 - 1400
Representatives of key public sector agencies involved in development, recreation and
tourism will speak about their strategies for the River Lee and Cork Harbour during
the morning session. Activities have been arranged for the afternoon, including a tour
of the bonded warehouses on Custom House Quay (built in 1820) and currach rowing.
We have asked speakers to keep their presentations to about 15 minutes to allow time
for a few questions after each. The discussion at the end of the morning is where
approaches adopted in the partners' cities and ports can be introduced; we will have
lunch time and the activity period in the afternoon for the discussions to continue
informally.
