All submissions must include the signed Cover Page and the Abstract (following the specifications below) Abstract Checklist These instructions must be followed exactly or your abstract will be returned. Abstract may be no longer than one page, including figures! Font: Times New Roman Font size: 11 point (this is the preferred and minimum) Font style: Abstract title and section headings should be bold; all other text should be plain, except as needed for emphasis. Margins: All margins (left, right, top, bottom) must be 1 inch exactly Figures, tables, images: May be included, but must be inserted into the 1 page maximum abstract. Color figures/images may be used. IMPORTANT: Abstract may be no longer than one page, including figures! Intellectual Property Certification Checklist Because the 2014 Research Fellows Poster Celebration is a public event, you must consider whether your abstract and poster will constitute a public disclosure of commercially viable information. Please read the attached information on page 2, and consider all intellectual property issues before signing the certification on the cover page. Please use the abstract template that we have provided. It is formatted to the above specifications. No other format will be accepted. Please note: - No resubmissions will be accepted after March 21st due date. - All submitted abstracts are final. - Once your abstract is accepted, you must send your poster PDF by Fri, May 2. - You must be present on poster day to receive an award and cash prize. As such, participants need to consider whether their submissions will disclose inventions or ideas that might have commercial application. Please read the following information carefully to determine whether your abstract/poster submission needs discussion with the Partners Research Ventures and Licensing Office. Failure to adequately protect your ideas prior to Poster Day may lead to the loss of license/patent opportunities. Both the corresponding author and the laboratory Principal Investigator should carefully read and consider the information below and contact the Research Ventures and Licensing Office, if needed. 1. Do you believe that your proposed presentation will disclose an invention(s) that has commercial application and will improve patient care? Examples of an invention(s) can include the following: a. new device, e.g., microfluidic chip, cell sorter, substratum for growing cells; b. new therapeutic, e.g., small molecule or biologic; c. new diagnostic, e.g., inorganic/organic based diagnostic; d. new delivery-vehicles for a therapeutic/diagnostic; e. new methods, e.g., therapeutic/diagnostic/research/manufacturing; f. an improvement(s) to an existing device; g. an improvement(s) to an existing therapeutic; h. an improvement(s) to an existing diagnostic; i. an improvement(s) to an existing delivery-vehicle j. an improvement to an existing method. 2. If yes to #1, has the invention(s) been previously disclosed/presented to others outside of MGH in a non-confidential manner? 3.
