EXT. DOWNTOWN STREETS-NIGHT
MUSIC UP.
A picturesque uptown skyline, calm, serene. The well lit
low rise buildings illuminate the night.
Outside there's a large luminous three story plaza. It's
garnished with Christmas wreathes, lighted snow flakes, and
colorful flashing lights. Embellishing a traditional
Christmas Town flavor.
CUT TO:
Inside the plaza, the store's display a commercialized
Christmas.
SIGNS everywhere entice shoppers. There's Still Time! Get
it Now! Fifty, 60 and 70% off!
In a controlled frenzy, patrons whisk in and out of shops
buying last minute gifts.
CUT TO:
Outside another plaza. A gigantic Christmas tree seems to
touch the heavens. It's warm lights shine brightly.
At the bottom of the tree, a gospel choir sings.
CUT TO:
Downtown, not as pretty, the people not as happy. The
traffic is heavy. Winos, vagrants, and prostitutes inhabit
the streets.
On the street corner a TEENAGER sells stolen watches.
A Lexus pulls up to the curb. A PROSTITUTE, wearing a skin
tight leather red elf's suit, seductively STROLLS over to
the car.
In front of a liquor store, a shabby DRUNKEN SANTA CLAUS
harasses a YOUNG BLACK WOMAN.
CUT TO:
INT. LIQUOR STORE-NIGHT
Two men in their late twenties, NICK CAMENS (27) and MARCUS
ROBINSON (29), occupy the back of the liquor store.
Marcus looks at several bottles of liquor. Nick anxiously
looks at his watch.
NICK
Yo man hurry the fuck up, you know
we're already late.
MARCUS
All right, all right.
NICK
Come on man, you know how Kelli can
get.
Marcus turns to Nick, cutting his eyes tightly, the edges
of his mouth curl.
MARCUS
I guess you forgot who I'm married too.
Marcus GRABS two bottles. The two men walk up front.
Marcus sits the bottles on the counter.
The CASHIER, behind bullet proof glass, SCANS the bottles.
CASHIER
Two bottles of Hennessy, will that be
all sir.
Marcus smiles at Nick.
MARCUS
(sarcastically)
Yeah let me get some Crown for my man
right here. You know he's old school.
NICK
Fuck You!
Marcus LAUGHS. The cashier slides them a bag. Marcus bags
the bottles. He and Nick exit the store.
CUT TO:
EXT. LIQUOR STORE-NIGHT
Marcus takes two steps out of the store.
BOOM! He collides with the drunken santa, knocking the
santa to the ground.
MARCUS
Sorry.
Marcus and Nick help santa on his feet.
MARCUS (CONT'D)
Are you okay.
The santa slowly nods Yes. Keeping his head down, not
giving them a clear view of his face.
Nick glances at Marcus. Marcus peers back, he frowns. Nick
reaches in his pocket. Puts a folded bill in the santa's
hand.
NICK
Merry Christmas.
The santa opens the bill, it's a TWENTY. Still keeping his
face hidden. He hugs Nick and shakes Marcus hand.
SANTA
Bless you.
The santa walks off.
A fine, long legged young black woman exits a drug store.
Marcus sees her, he gets Nick's attention.
MARCUS
Nick get in the car, I'll be back in a
second.
Seeing the woman Nick responds.
NICK
Marcus fuck that peeper! Let's go!
Blows Nick off. With a MACK DADDY STRUT Marcus pursues the
woman.
Nick checks his watch, pissed, enters the car.
CUT TO:
INT. CAR-NIGHT
Nick mumbles to himself.
NICK (CONT'D)
I should have came by myself.
Spies the review-mirror. Sees Marcus and the fine female.
With a players smile, he makes her laugh. Moments later
Marcus approaches the car. Jumps in WAVING a torn sheet of
paper, victoriously.
MARCUS
Pisszwo! Got the digits boy.
NICK
Well you better make sure Shy doesn't
see that shit!
Marcus RUBS the paper against his head.
MARCUS
Don't worry brother-in-law, I'm gonna
engrave this number in my head. Anyway
did you see the body on that girl.

MARCUS

NICK
You know what I don't understand,
you're married to one of the finest and

speeds off.
As the car speeds down the street, the drunken santa
emerges from a dark corner. He pulls out a cell phone.
The street light catches his face. Average looking white
male, one exception. A three to four cm SCAR under his
left eye.
From his pocket, he pulls out a WALLET SIZE PHOTO.
It's Nick's wedding picture. DRAWS a BLACK X over Nick's
face.
CUT TO:
INT. RICHARDSON HOME, KITCHEN-NIGHT
Two women are cooking, fraternal twins. KELLI, (27) pretty,
slim, long black hair, adds spices to the boiling water.
SHA'RON, (27) sexy, slammin body, short neat hair, OBESELY
CHOPPING vegetables.
She stops, waving the knife irately.
SHA'RON
Where the hell are they! You know we
should have never let those two go!
Kelli backs away from her sister. Calmly removes the knife
from Sha'Ron's hand.
KELLI
Your right Shy, but maybe we'll give
them a few more minutes before we break
out the pistols.
SHA'RON
(smiles)
Girl you know how I can get sometimes.
KELLI
Mmm-hmm.

INT. RICHARDSON HOME, LIVING ROOM-NIGHT
The doorbell RINGS. ANGELA, (34) the oldest sister to
Sha'Ron and Kelli, is wrapping Christmas presents. She
stops, answers the door.
ANGELA
Who is it?
MARCUS (O.S.)
Hey it's backdoor Santa looking to
share some Christmas love!
Angela smiles and opens the door. She quickly looks at her
watch.
ANGELA
Two hours to go to the store?
Nick eyeballs Marcus, indicating his blame. Angela cuts her
eyes at Marcus too.
Blowing them off. Marcus holds the large brown bag of
liquor. Reaches inside, pulls a pocket size bag out.
Stuffing it in his back pocket. Hands Angela the large
brown bag of liquor.
MARCUS
Yeah, yeah lets blame everything on
Marcus tonight.
Marcus and Nick exit the living room. Slowly descend to the
kitchen.
The downstairs bathroom door opens, out pops DEBBIE, a very
cute 5yr old girl. Wearing pink PJ's, she greets them with
a warm smile.
DEBBIE
Hey Uncle Nick, Uncle Mac.
Nick bends down to pick up the cute girl. Tickles her neck
and chest. She giggles.
NICK
What's up Debbie, are you ready for
santa.
Marcus takes Debbie from Nick. He kisses her on the cheek.
MARCUS
Yeah cutie, you're coming with me.
CUT TO:
INT. RICHARDSON HOME, KITCHEN-NIGHT
Nick and Marcus enter the kitchen. Marcus is still holding
Debbie.
Sha'Ron arguing, her back to them. Kelli alerts her.
KELLI
Hey look who's here!
Sha'Ron turns quickly. Outraged she points at Marcus.
SHA'RON
Who in the H__ _ _. Hey!
Sha'Ron's obscenity is halted.
Marcus holding Debbie with one arm, pulls a small bag from
his back pocket. He smirks at Sha'Ron, boastfully speaks.
MARCUS
Hey boo look who's here.
Debbie waves.
DEBBIE
Hey Aunt Shy Shy, Aunt K.K.
KELLI
Hey Pokey how you doing.
Sha'Ron takes Debbie. She gives her hugs and kisses.
SHA'RON

Sha'Ron frowns at Marcus. Cuts her eyes sharply.
Marcus hands Sha'Ron the bag. She snatches if from Marcus.
Kelli PINCHES Nick's arm. Nick grimaces in pain. Rubs his
arm for comfort.

Nick let's go help Angie wrap the
Christmas presents.
Nick still rubbing.
NICK
Okay baby.
CUT TO:
INT. RICHARDSON HOME, HALLWAY-NIGHT
Kelli and Nick stop in the hallway. She glares at Nick.
KELLI
So where in the hell did the two of you
go?
NICK
You know Marcus, I know Marcus, and Shy
knows Marcus.
KELLI
So if Marcus wants to ride all over
Oakland, you're going to be fool enough
to be his chauffeur.
Nick moves closer to Kelli.
NICK
Kelli why are you stressing, it's not
that deep.
Kelli PUSHES Nick away.
KELLI

is trifling. So please don't let him

Nick GRABS Kelli by the waist. She passively resist. Nick
manages to pull her closer.

Stop fussing and come here. It's
Christmas Eve, so let me bring you some
holiday joy.
Nick attempts to kiss Kelli. Kelli turns her head. Pulling
her head back, she places a finger in Nick's face. Smiles

KELLI

INT. RICHARDSON HOME, DINNING ROOM-NIGHT
Food steams from the table. Turkey, ham, corn, and
cornbread are some of the choices. Seven out of ten chairs
are occupied. Kelli and Sha'Ron set the table. The phone
RINGS.
Angela rises out of her seat, rushes out of the room to
answer the phone.
CUT TO:
INT. RICHARDSON HOME, LIVING ROOM-NIGHT
The answering machine has pick up. Angela stops it, grabs
the phone.
ANGELA
Richardson residents.
Angela's startled by the voice. YELLS upstairs.
ANGELA (CONT'D)
Daddy it's for you!
MICHAEL RICHARDSON (O.S.)
Thanks baby I'll take it up here!
Angela places the phone to her ear. SHOUTING is heard.
Angela is visibly disturbed. Hangs up the receiver. Angela
returns to the dinning room.
CUT TO:
INT. DINNING ROOM-NIGHT
The men are getting restless. They are ready to eat. Two
YOUNG BOYS pick at the food. Angela scolds her husband,
DAVID LOPEZ (36) Latin, medium built, very reserved.
ANGELA
David don't let those boys eat until
everyone is here!
DAVID
Boys you heard your momma, put that
food down!
The two boys quickly stop. Marcus takes a PINCH of
cornbread, puts it in his mouth.
MARCUS
Shit you can't get mad at the boys, I
wanna eat too.
Nick rubs his stomach, indicating extreme hunger.
NICK
Your daddy won't mind if we break bread
without him.
CLANG! Kelli drops the carving utensils on the table.
KELLI
Hell no!
Kelli walks to the front of the table.
KELLI (CONT'D)
This is a family dinner and it's going
to stay a family dinner!
MIKE RICHARDSON,(52) tall with a trimmed graying beard.
Enters eyes glaring. He speaks harshly.
MICHAEL RICHARDSON
You guys ain't eating yet?
Nick sarcastically jokes.
NICK
See what I told you.
Kelli SMACKS Nick on the back of his head.
KELLI
No!
Kelli gently hooks her father's arm, calmly placing him at
the head of the table.
KELLI (CONT'D)
Since Christmas Eve dinner is a family
tradition, and this your house. We just
wanted you to bless the food daddy.
Mike Richardson nods in approval. Everyone holds hands and
bows their head.
MICHAEL RICHARDSON
Lord thank you for the wonderful
blessing you have given this family;
Health, prosperity, happiness. Thank
you for the abundance of food on the
table and especially thank you for
keeping our family healthy, strong and
safe...Amen.
MARCUS
Lets' eat!
Mike Richardson carves the meat. The family passes plates
of food. Everyone is talking and eating.
FADE:
INT. RICHARDSON HOME, LIVING ROOM-NIGHT
The adult members gather by an enormous WHITE FIR PINE
CHRISTMAS TREE. The tree lots of lights. Lots of presents.
Nick and Marcus stand by the couch drinking.
David sits on the couch. Angela is between his legs.
Kelli and Sha'Ron are on the floor. They shake the
Christmas presents, then pass each one out.
Mike Richardson stands and speaks.
MICHAEL RICHARDSON
You know I look at my girls and I'm so
proud. I just wish your mother was here
to see this, although I only see it
once a year.
KELLI
Well daddy that's the only time
everybody can get together, but next
year Nick and I want everyone to come
to Atlanta for Christmas.
Mike Richardson sips a drink. He sits down.
MICHAEL RICHARDSON
You know I haven't been down south in
years.
Mike Richardson points to Kelli.
MICHAEL RICHARDSON (CONT'D)
You see those boxes Kelli, take one and
give the others to your sisters.
Kelli exited grabs THREE RED and GOLD BOXES and hands them
to Sha'Ron and Angela. Angela tears the corners of her box.
Sha'Ron rips her paper off to open hers.
Kelli carefully takes her time to open hers. She takes one
piece of tape off at a time.
Everyone stops and look at Kelli. Their stares indicate to
her hurry up. She looks, then RIPS the paper off.
Angela opens her box first. Very excited, she pulls two
tickets out.
ANGELA
Plane tickets!
MICHAEL RICHARDSON
Those are first class tickets for 2
weeks in Rio. All expenses paid.
Angela stands up walks towards Mike Richardson. She smiles
at her father, squeezes him tightly, gives him a KISS.
ANGELA
Thank you!
Kelli the same as Angela.
KELLI
Love you daddy.
Sha'Ron same as her sisters. Sha'Ron holds her father's
hand tightly.
SHA'RON
I've always wanted to go to Rio.
Sha'Ron SQUEEZES her father's hand a little tighter. She
gives him a loving stare. Sha'Ron takes a deep breath.
SHA'RON (CONT'D)
There's something I have to say. The
reason why I've been so moody & more
crazy than usual is, I'm pregnant!
Kelli and Angela rush to give Sha'Ron a hug. Marcus beams
with excitement.
MARCUS
Shit I'm going to be a daddy!
ANGELA
Oh baby, welcome to motherhood.
Kelli smiles brightly, eyes water slightly.

Everyone is LAUGHING and TALKING.

Subtitle, The months later. Phones RINGS WILDLY. A
multitude of CUBICLES dominate. WORKERS HECTICALLY perform
their jobs.
A set of worker, in business attire, walk through a double
glass door. They wave. Then board an elevator.
Behind a large desk, a SECRETARY, has a communication head
set on. She waves. Her phone RINGS. She answers.
SECRETARY
Good morning, Vilade Marketing, hold
please.
Another RING. In control she taps a button.
SECRETARY (CONT'D)
Vilade Marketing. Yes you want to
confirm your Friday appointment with
Mrs. Camens.
She reaches for an appointment book. Turns two pages. Then
back to the phone.
SECRETARY (CONT'D)
Okay it's confirmed.
Another RING. Calmly she hits another button.
SECRETARY (CONT'D)
Good morning Vilade Marketing, you
would like to speak to Kelli Camens,
may I ask whose calling. Hold please.
The secretary hits another button, BUZZING her boss.
CUT TO:
INT. KELLI'S OFFICE-DAY
Kelli reviews files on her desk. RING! She touches a button
on the phone, on speaker a voice BELLOWS out.
SECRETARY (V.O.)
Mrs. Camens.
KELLI
Yes.
SECRETARY (V.O.)
You have a call on line 2, from Jason
Thrash.
KELLI
Okay I'll take it.
Kelli touches a button.
KELLI (CONT'D)
Hello Jason how's it going.
On speaker again, the voice emotionally CRACKS, SQUEAKS.
JASON THRASH (V.O.)

I need your help! Sales for this
quarter were low!
KELLI
Well Jason we have a meeting today, and
the new project should be ready.
JASON THRASH
Perfect! I hope they like the new
concept.

Kelli hangs up. She walks to her window. Admires the
downtown scenery.
CUT TO:
INT. OFFICE BOARDROOM-DAY
Six MEN and WOMEN sit at a long table. They are tense.
Kelli enters. She places a briefcase on the table. Walks
around the table.
KELLI (CONT'D)
Good morning everybody. I just assured
the client that we had something
slammin for him. So lets see it.
Two workers leave the table. They insert a disk into a
video player.
WORKER IN BLUE DRESS
Well, here's our presentation.
Another worker turns the lights off.
A series of images are shown on the projection screen.
The show ends, lights come on.
Kelli walks to the front of the table.
KELLI
Good concept, but the product needs to
stand out more.
MALE WORKER
So you like the idea, but we need to
highlight the product more.
KELLI
Exactly!
Kelli sits down. Rolling her sleeves up.
KELLI (CONT'D)
Now people let's get ready for a little
overtime, cause it's time to pay the
mortgages.
The workers give a few faint GROANS. Kelli opens her
briefcase. She passes papers to everyone.
FADE:
INT. CAMENS HOME, DINING ROOM-NIGHT
Kelli and Nick sit across from each other. They are
rumbling through letters and other documents.
Kelli sips a glass of wine. She reaches for a document.
Nick hands her the sheet of paper. Kelli gives the paper a
quick look. She sits her glass of wine on a coaster.
She takes a pen, writes on the paper, handing it to Nick.
KELLI (CONT'D)
Okay I will take the mortgage, car
notes, and insurance, and you take the
utilities and credit cards.
Nick glances at the paper, he FLIPS it back at Kelli.
Responds vague, in a sharp tone.
NICK
Yeah whatever!
KELLI
Nick what's wrong?
NICK
I said I'm fine!
Kelli rises in her chair. Gives Nick a quirky glance.
Responds to Nick's outrage.
KELLI
Whoa! Don't take that tone with me!

We talked about it, but it just doesn't

Kelli SHAKES her head. She reaches for Nick's hand.

Kelli lets go of Nick's hand. She sits back in her seat.

Anyway it really doesn't matter,

Nick leans back, stares at the table. Beat. Looks Kelli in
the eyes.

I still feel like I'm not contributing
or pulling my weight.

and speaks in his ear.

Baby you are still head of this
household. You provide something more
than just equal finances.
Kelli stops the massage. She takes a seat next to Nick.
Gazes deeply into his eyes.
KELLI (CONT'D)
You provide me with wisdom, strength to
go on, and most of all unconditional
love.
Nick looks Kelli in the eyes. He shamefully turns away.
NICK
It's not that I don't feel part of the
marriage, but less than a man.
Kelli shakes her head. PUNCHES Nick's chest. Nick's eyes
BULGE. Mouth GAPES OPEN.
KELLI
Are you crazy! Not only are you the
man, but you're my man, and I love you.
Kelli places her hand under Nick's chin.
KELLI (CONT'D)

Kelli leans back in her chair.
KELLI
Because we have something special.
Kelli walks into the living room. Searches the huge CD
rack. Finding her favorite, pulls it out. Pops it in the
stereo. Rufuss & Chaka Khan's Ain't Nobody SHARPLY PLAYS
from the stereo.
Kelli begins a very playful, yet seductive LIPSINC ROUTINE.
As she CAVORTS for Nick, he bares a school boy's grin.
The Music seems to have energized her. Now on top of Nick,
she GRINDS on his lap.
Kelli rises off Nick. Turns pulls Nick out of his seat.
Kelli leads him upstairs, continuing her Sensual dance
routine.

INT. CAMENS HOME, BEDROOM-NIGHT
MUSIC UP.
The room is dim, but romantically lit with candles. Nick
sits on the bed.
Kelli enters wearing a SEE-THROUGH GOWN. She strolls to the
bed.
Nick moves to Kelli. She turns her back to Nick. Nick puts
his arms on her shoulders. DANGLES his fingers between the
two straps, removes it slowly. The gown DROPS quickly to
her feet. KISSES her neck seductively.
In the bed, on her back. Nick KISSES softly between her
breast. Slowly LICKS down the middle. Stops at the belly
button. NIBBLES her stomach.
Kelli in bed, on her stomach. Nick slowly LICKS her back.

Kelli stands over the stove, cooking. She smiles at Nick.

Nick walks towards Kelli and hugs her waist. Looks over her
shoulder for a quick peek. SNIFFS deeply.
NICK
Shit it smells good in here!
Kelli removes the food and places it on a plate. With her
back turned, Nick SNEAKS a piece of sausage, NIBBLING it
quickly. Then SWALLOWING it.
Kelli turns to speak. Nick eyes widen, smiles innocently.
From the plate, Kelli scoops eggs on a fork.
KELLI
Now I know you're glad you listen to
your Aunt Gerri. Here taste this.
She puts them in Nick's mouth. Nick gobbles the eggs down.
NICK
Mmmmm!
The phone RINGS. Nick walks over to the wall and answers.
NICK (CONT'D)
Hello.
CUT TO:
INT. ROBINSON HOME, BEDROOM-DAY
Sha'Ron is on the other end. Frantically speaks.
SHA'RON
Where's Kelli?
NICK
Good morning to you too.
SHA'RON
Sorry. Good morning Nick.
NICK
Now that's better. I'll get Kelli.
Nick sets the kitchen phone on the counter. His breakfast
is on the table. SWIPES another sausage. STUFFS it into his
mouth.
NICK (CONT'D)

Who is it?
NICK

It's Sha'Ron.
Kelli moves across the room. She picks up the phone and
SPEAKS.
KELLI
Hey girl what's up?
SHA'RON
Everything!
KELLI
What's wrong?
Angrily she speaks.
SHA'RON

Sha'Ron displays more emotion.

Sha'Ron walks to a dresser. Gathering the daily
necessities, keys, and a purse.
SHA'RON

Kelli hangs up the phone, still holds it in her hand. Nick
STUFFS another sausage in his mouth. He walks towards
Kelli. Stands next to her.
NICK
What's up with Shy?
Kelli frustrated, SHAKES her head at Nick.
KELLI
Her cheating ass husband!
NICK
So what's next for them?
KELLI
Well so far she's put his ass out.
Nick grabs his wife's hand.

on the coffee table.

Mike Richardson's eyes PEEK upwards.

A hand takes the phone from Mike Richardson. In front of
him a SMILING MAN, CLAPS his hands. TWO GUNMEN, on his left
and right smile. They grip their guns tighter.

heart. But Mr. Arcadia needs to see

Mike Richardson gets out of his chair.
MICHAEL RICHARDSON
Well let me get a couple of things
before I go.
The sarcastic man holds his hand out, indicating to Mike
Richardson to stop.

above mixing drinks. Acknowledges Mike Richardson presence.
He motions for Mike to sit.
Turning to face Mike Richardson, under his left eye a 3 to
4 cm scar.
Arcadia walks down, holding two drinks.
Mike Richardson sits down. Arcadia speaks.
FRANK ARCADIA
Welcome Michael, have a drink with me.
Offers Mike Richardson a drink. Mike refuses.
MICHAEL RICHARDSON

Arcadia holds the glass even closer to Mike Richardson's
face. SIPPING the other.
FRANK ARCADIA

Mike Richardson SNATCHES the drink.
MICHAEL RICHARDSON

Frank Arcadia CHUCKLES briefly. Takes another SIP. Arcadia
takes the seat next to Mike Richardson.

Frank takes a last sip. Reclining in his chair.

Mike Richardson answers naively.

Arcadia responds irately.

Arcadia motions for a henchmen.
A MAN enters. TALL and HUSKY, with a face only his mother

He hands Arcadia a half folded sheet of paper. Arcadia
UNFOLDS it, then reads.

Lopez your only granddaughter, lives at
144 Domingo Dr. Sacramento, CA; Sha'Ron
and Marcus Robinson, she owns Fashion
Frenzy salon, pregnant with their first
child, lives at 272 Frontier Rd
Oakland, CA; Lastly Kelli and Nick
Camens, employed by Vilade Marketing,
she's up for a promotion in 2 months,
lives at 3712 Farrington Heights
Marietta, GA.
Arcadia THROWS the paper at Mike Richardson's feet.
FRANK ARCADIA (CONT'D)
Now you see why you won't be talking to
the fucking feds!
Mike Richardson LEAPS out of his seat. A henchman RACKS his
gun and points it at Mike Richardson. Mike Richardson
stands and stares at Arcadia. A henchman GRABS his arm,
FORCING him to sit.
MICHAEL RICHARDSON
If you touch those girls!
Arcadia stands, MOVES towards Mike Richardson. POINTS his
finger in Mike's face, pretentiously.
FRANK ARCADIA
Or fucking what! I own you! Talk and
you'll want to cut your own tongue out!
Frank gestures to the Henchmen.
FRANK ARCADIA (CONT'D)
Get him out of here!
Two Henchmen grab Mike Richardson by the arm. He is
escorted out of the house. Arcadia gives them a cold
devilish stare, then walks away.
FADE:
INT. RESTURANT-NIGHT
Kelli's LAUGHTER can be heard in the background. Gains her
composer, brings a piece of steak to her lips.
Nick's making silly faces, causing Kelli more LAUGHTER.
KELLI
(giggles)
Stop you're going to make me choke.
NICK
No for real it's true.
KELLI
Whatever.
Nick stops. Sits up in his chair. He DRAGS her plate to the
side.
NICK
Okay that's all right if you don't
believe me, but let's talk about
something that's not so funny.
Kelli puzzled. Puts her fork down.
KELLI

NICK
When are we going to have kids?
Kelli SHAKES her head emphatically. PUSHES her chair away
from the table. Folding her arms, Lets out a frustrating
sigh.

Nick sincerely replies.
NICK
No for real, Sha'Ron and Marcus are
having a baby, so when's our turn.
KELLI
Nick you know we talked about this
already. It's not like I don't wanna
have kids, but it's not the right time.
Nick is confused.

Kelli stares directly into Nick's eyes. HOLDS up ONE

Nick admires Kelli, extends his hand.

speaks.

Okay, but I did bring you here for a

Reaching into his pocket, removes a SMALL RECTANGULAR BOX.
Places the box in front of Kelli.
Kelli eyes widen, surprised, amazed. Opens it. Pulls out a
sparkling DIAMOND NECKLACE.
KELLI
It's beautiful.
Nick looks passionately into her eyes.
NICK
Just my way of saying I love you.
Nick smiles. He reaches, TAPS Kelli on the leg.
NICK (CONT'D)
So are you ready to be out tonight.
Kelli stares at Nick. With a I will follow you anywhere
smile, she nods.
KELLI

Nick signals for the waiter to bring the check. The couple
gather their things preparing to leave.
CUT TO:
INT. CLUB-NIGHT
A DJ is BLASTING a steady mix of Hip Hop and R&B beats. The
dance floor is packed. The club goers exhibit an energy,
that can be felt from the bottom of the dance floor to the
top of the ceiling.
Upstairs, Kelli and Nick observe the feverish club ritual.
Kelli taps her nails on the safety rail, on beat with the
music. Nick orders their drinks.
NICK
Let me get some Crown & Coke, Kelli
what do you want?
KELLI
I'll have a Long Island Ice Tea.
Nick peeks at the dance floor, it's packed. He glances at
Kelli. She feels the music now, DANCES in the seat. He
grabs her hand.
NICK
Let's dance
KELLI
Okay.
Nick leads Kelli downstairs, and onto the dance floor.
On the dance floor, Nick moves perfectly with the music.
Next to them, a guy who can't dance. Nick MIMICS him.
Kelli amused by Nick's antics, LAUGHS uncontrollably.
Nick and Kelli dance for a few more songs. Later return to
their table.
KELLI (CONT'D)
Whew, that was fun!
Kelli GULPS down a drink. She sets the empty glass next to
two more empty ones.
Nick is astonished.
NICK
Whoa, slow down.
KELLI
What for I'm not driving.
The DJ changes the mood, plays a slow jam. It's Kelli's
favorite.
KELLI (CONT'D)
Oh man, that's my song!
She grabs Nick's hand, RUSHES him on the dance floor.
Nick has a firm hold on his wife's waist. As they move to
the music, lowers his hand to her butt.
Kelli stares into Nick's eyes, RUNS her fingers across his
head. Gently RUBS his neck. Softly KISSES Nick on the lips.
Brings his ear to her mouth, WHISPERS in it.
KELLI (CONT'D)
Nick let's makes some babies tonight.
Nick lifts his head quickly. Stares surprisingly.
NICK
Are you sure?
Kelli silent, gives a reassuring Nod.
Nick grabs his wife's hand, they leave the dance floor. He
briskly escorts her up the steps. Exiting the club.
CUT TO:
EXT. STREET-NIGHT.
A ROARING car engine races down the street, then suddenly
coming to a SCREECHING halt.
Nick POPS out of the car.
Kelli, tipsy, STAGGERS out of the car.
Nick holds Kelli around the waist. Helping her up the
walkway, up the steps. Kelli is HUMMING and SINGING.
NICK
Okay baby, I got you.
Nick FUMBLES his keys, as he tries to open the front door
and hold Kelli at the same time. He opens the door, and
DRAGS Kelli with him.
CUT TO:
INT. CAMENS HOME, LIVING ROOM-NIGHT
Nick assists Kelli to the sofa. Kelli is now officially
drunk. Her SINGING has gotten slower, softer.
NICK (CONT'D)
Sit right here baby. I gotta use the
bathroom.
KELLI
(slurred)
Okay.
Nick leaves the bathroom door open, communicates with
Kelli. PISSSS! Nick relieves his bladder, he speaks to
Kelli.
NICK

Nick zips his pants up, WASHES his hands.

Subtitle. Two months later. A large rectangular sign sits
in front of a vast construction site. The bold black
letters, trimmed in red, flash the words, RICHARDSON'S
CONSTRUCTION.
Michael Richardson, with blueprints in hand walks the huge
site. He spots a MACHINIST running heavy machinery
The machine gears SQUEAK and MOAN. The man tolls with the
machine. Mike Richardson YELLS.
MICHAEL RICHARDSON
Hey be careful with that digger, you
know how much that shit cost!
MACHINIST
Sorry.
Mike Richardson turns and walks away. Enters the main
trailer.
CUT TO:
INT. CONSTRUCTION SITE, TRAILER-DAY
A FOREMAN sits in a chair waiting on him.
MICHAEL RICHARDSON
Good you're here on time.
FOREMAN
That's a foreman's job ain't it.
MICHAEL RICHARDSON
Well that's why I pay you the big

The foreman laughs.
FOREMAN

Mike Richardson opens the blueprints. Rolls them on the
table. Using his index finger, circles the middle of the
blueprints.

You see this, If we're not careful we
could be in for a 3 to 4 month delay.
Someone RAPS on the door very hard.
MICHAEL RICHARDSON (CONT'D)

PETTY, (44), slightly over weight white male, with the
disposition of a rattlesnake enters. He places a stick of
gum in his mouth.
PETTY
Well Richardson, business is nice.
MICHAEL RICHARDSON
Petty, I knew I would see you soon.
Petty walks towards Mike Richardson.
PETTY
Good, no need to bullshit each other.
Mike Richardson rolls the blueprints up, hands them to the
foreman. Giving the okay to leave.
MICHAEL RICHARDSON
Go ahead and take these plans to site
C.
The foreman exits the trailer.
Petty walks to a file cabinet. OPENS it wildly, looks
through files.
PETTY
Richardson you must think you're bigger
than the fucking government.
MICHAEL RICHARDSON
No I don't, but they threatened my
girls, and if anything happens to
them..
Petty interrupts.
PETTY
That's good you're worried, but we can
protect them.
Mike Richardson disagrees with Petty. Speaks in a somber
voice.
MICHAEL RICHARDSON
Nobody can hide from Arcadia.
Petty angrily SLAMS the file cabinet. He's in Mike
Richardson's face, SHOUTING.
PETTY
Fuck Arcadia! Your number one worry
should be me and the Federal
government.
Petty backs away from Mike Richardson. Puts a FRESH STICK
of GUM in his mouth.
PETTY (CONT'D)
You see we had a deal. You talk you get

PETTY
Well let's see. All assets will be
frozen. Any business you help sponsor

suspicion of Money Laundering and
attempted Fraud.

PETTY

disassemble you and your family to get
him I will.
Beat. Petty Speaks calmly.
PETTY (CONT'D)

that you struck a deal with a murdering
drug dealer.
Mike Richardson sits motionless, his face blank. Looking up
at Petty.

Mike Richardson and Petty exit the trailer.

EXT. ARCADIA HOME, POOL DECK-DAY
Frank Arcadia has a HANDS FREE phone headset stuck in his
EAR. He is standing by his custom oval shaped pool.
A LEGGY BLONDE sunbathes poolside. Wearing dark sunglasses,

glistens in the sunlight.
With putter in hand, Arcadia practices his golf game. A
steady RINGING is heard, he waits for the person on the
other end to pick-up. He takes a PUTT.

The ringing stops. Someone has picked up. HECTOR REMONE,

accent.

HECTOR REMONE

FRANK ARCADIA

to the point.
Adjusting his body.

Arcadia POSITIONS his next putt.

Moving to the sunbathing blonde. She POURS him a glass of
lemon-aid, handing it to him, Arcadia takes a sip.

Hector pulls out a pad and pencil. JOTS down Arcadia's
instructions.

Hector sits at a roulette table. Calmly FILING his nails.

Hector sits his drink down. He gives them a solemn glare.
Hector points at Devonte and Kinkler. BODY LANGUAGE lets
the two know his words importance.

for what the competition is like and
what officials can and can't be bought
off.
Kinkler gives Hector a frigid stare. Grabs a cigar form his
coat, LIGHTS and SMOKES it. His voice cuts the air.

Okay it's settle, you two will be there

Devonte SWINGS his arms with excitement. SPINNING the
roulette wheel.
DEVONTE

HECTOR REMONE

glare.

conversation. Exits the room. KNOCKS OVER a statue in
hallway.

INT. CAMENS HOME, DEN-NIGHT
A game is LOUDLY being watched on TV. Nick is stirring back
and forth on the couch. In one hand he is holding a beer,
the other the remote.
Switch to the TV. A quick shot of Kobe Bryant flashing down
the court in seen.
Nick ROCKETS out of his seat, anticipating a thrilling
moment.
To the TV again, Kobe has just passed the ball to Shaq for

Nick JUMPS in the air with satisfaction.

RING! RING! Nick sets the beer down. Picks up the phone.

Devonte speaks on a cordless phone, holds a FLOWING
hosepipe.
Two BEAUTIFUL WOMEN, barely clothe WASH a white Range
Rover.
Devonte LAUGHS.
DEVONTE

Nick amazed.
NICK

DEVONTE
Still ballin. What's up in the ATL.
NICK

beat the rush hour traffic.
Devonte SPRAYS a side of his Range Rover.

They stop, THROWING a bucket of soapy water at him.

INT. CAMENS HOME, MASTER BEDROOM-NIGHT
Nick's RUNNING FOOTSTEPS echo the house. BLASTING up the
stairs, YELLING.
In the bathroom, Kelli uses a mirror to roll her long hair.
She is wearing a sexy purple set of silk PJ's.
NICK (O.S.)

Nick bursts in, out of breath. Dashes to the bathroom.

KELLI

NICK
(grinning)

Kelli turns from the mirror, outraged she speaks.

Nick calmly approaches Kelli.

Slowly rubs her stomach. She moves his hand, closes her
top.

Nick nods yes. Kelli turns, moves to the bed. Nick lifts
her PJ shirt, exposing her back slightly.
Kelli snatches her shirt tail.

Kelli turns for the bed again. Nick walks up, POPS her on
the ass. Kelli SMACKS his hand firmly.
KELLI (CONT'D)

Kelli moves quickly for the bed, jumps under the covers.
Nick follows her. Removes his shirt. Runs for the bed. A
few seconds of playful SCREAMING and LAUGHTER between them.

A STEADY BUZZING from an alarm clock is being ignored.
The sheets on the bed are all messed up. In the middle they
make a big cluster, it is in the shape of a sleeping body.
A head pops out from under the covers, it's Kelli. She hits
the alarm clock. The time is 7:48 a.m.
KELLI (CONT'D)
Shit I'm late!
Kelli jumps out of the bed. She enters the bathroom.
In the mirror she sees her hair messy. Only one roller
left. Angrily she speaks.
KELLI (CONT'D)
I knew I shouldn't have let him talk me

Kelli goes into rush mode. Giving herself a quick shower
and make over.

Nick is in the kitchen, eating a bowl of cereal.

Nick is about to give a reply. Kelli cuts him off.

his cereal.

Nick quickly defuses the situation, peeks at his watch,
stands, leaves the table.

The two men get up and head for the door. Kelli stops Nick

Nick and Devonte exit the house and get into his car.

Nick and Devonte are in line to one of Atlanta's hottest
strip clubs.
Nick's engaged in a conversation with the TICKET GIRL.
NICK (CONT'D)
Show what's the flow like tonight.

General admission is ten, VIP is
twenty, and there's the Platinum
Package.

Nick turns and looks at Devonte.
Devonte nods in approval.

Nick hands the ticket girl the money. She points towards
the bar.

Nick and Devonte enter the club.
Devonte at the bar, orders two beers.
Sexy, pulsing music and hot dancers engulf the room.
In front, the STAGE DANCERS. One in particular, spins and
twist her body seductively around a pole.
On the floor, male patrons are entertained by LIBIDO

Nick smiles at Devonte.
NICK

The music has gotten louder, the dancers have gotten a
little wilder.
The CLUB BOUNCER, tall at 6'4" and at least 280lbs, he
approaches Nick and Devonte.

NICK

Follow me.
Nick and Devonte follow the large man past the main stage.
They enter a hallway with only a SINGLE RED LIGHT. Continue
until they reach a locked door.

The bouncer reaches into his coat pocket. Hands Nick a
plastic green key card.
BOUNCER

Nick swipes the card against the slot provided. CLICK! Nick
slowly opens the door.
Nick and Devonte enter a smoke filled room. Suddenly BLUE
FLUORESCENT LIGHTS illuminate their clothes. The smoke
clears and there are four beautiful dancers calling for
them. The two men, with sinful grins, face each other.
DEVONTE AND NICK

CUT TO:
INT. STRIP CLUB, PRIVATE ROOM-NIGHT
Music BLASTS in super surround sound. The main stage, two
FEMALE DANCERS are making out.
Behind them, Nick sits on a leather couch. A beautiful,
well built HISPANIC GODDESS GYRATES in front of him.
Devonte is about ten feet away from Nick. His DANCER
straddles his lower torso. He blows on her back. Waves a
roll of fifties in the air.
DEVONTE

Devonte SMACKS the dancer on the ass. Slips a fifty in her
garter belt. She slowly turns and faces Devonte.

Nick and Devonte are sitting in a booth eating burgers and
fries. They are engaged in friendly conversation.

did all that and nothing happen?
NICK

DEVONTE

NICK

Devonte begins to SNICKER at Nick. Nick becomes enraged.
Gives him an intense scowl.

Devonte stops snickering, replaces it with a gigantic
smile.

Nick nods.

Devonte calms Nick down.

a painful look in his eyes. He solemnly speaks.

Devonte sits back. Nick stick a fry in his mouth.

Nick grabs his coke, sucking the last drop of soda. He
rushes out of the booth. Motions for Devonte to follow.

The two men rush out of the restaurant, jump into Nick's
car, PEELS OFF.

INT. CAMENS HOME, LIVING ROOM-NIGHT
At the front door, the top lock is gently unlocked. The
door opens. Nick cautiously peeks his head in. Slowly, yet
quietly he enters the room. Nick takes a quick look around.

CLICK! The living room lights blind Nick momentarily.
Foot taping, arms folded. At the top of the staircase.

Kelli is eating lunch with two of her CO-WORKERS. They are
engaged in a deep conversation. Kelli seems to be
preoccupied or oblivious to their conversation.

One of her co-workers taps her shoulder.

Beat, listens to his choices.

and 12 yellow. and the card should

Beat.
NICK (CONT'D)
Deliver them to Kelli Camens, at Vilade
Marketing, and please make sure they
arrive before 5:00 pm.
Nick waits to get conformation. Hangs up the phone. Nick
sits back in his booth, smiling briefly, grabs his coke,
savors the last drop.

A black car THUMPING BASS pulls up, positioning itself
across the street from a large office building.

INT. CAR-DAY
The time on the clock is 4:25 p.m.
Inside the car is Kinkler and Devonte. Kinkler puts the car
in park. Pulls a sheet of paper from his coat. Devonte
turns the radio down. Turns to Kinkler, he's confused.
DEVONTE
What the hell are we doing downtown!
Kinkler turns to Devonte.
KINKLER
This is were our contact wanted to
meet.
Devonte grabs the door handle.
DEVONTE
Good, that means I get a chance to
works some corporate ho's.
Kinkler clutches Devonte by the arm, stopping him.
KINKLER
Whoa boy, our contact only needs to see
me. They don't like your kind.
Devonte shoves Kinkler arm off his.
DEVONTE

Kinkler opens his jacket. He revels a 9mm hand gun.

from Hector himself.
Devonte hesitates for a second, sizing Kinkler up.
His eyes are glaring with anger.

Kinkler replies, shoots Devonte a bird. Exits the car and
crosses the street. Quickly runs into a parking deck, next
to the large office building.

INT. KELLI'S OFFICE-DAY
Kelli, at her desk bored, spins an ink pen in circles.
Turns to the desk clock, 4:42 p.m.. She BUZZES her
secretary.

Hey, have I had any important messages
today.
SECRETARY (V.O.)

from Nick.

Okay, I'm leaving early so I can do
some shopping.
SECRETARY (V.O.)

Kelli grabs her purse. Exits the office. As she passes the
secretary she waves good-bye.
KELLI (CONT'D)

Kelli briefly smiles at her secretary. Kelli walks towards
the elevator, pushes the down button. The elevator opens
Kelli enters. As her elevator door closes the elevator next
to hers opens.
A tall skinny DELIVERY BOY exits the elevator. He is
carrying roses of various colors. He takes them to Kelli's
secretary.
Kelli's secretary has a smile on her face. She glances at
the wall clock, it's 4:48 p.m..
SECRETARY (CONT'D)
Who's the lucky person.
The delivery boy removes the card.
DELIVERY BOY
A Mrs. Kelli Camens
The secretary stands.
SECRETARY
You just missed her, maybe if we hurry
we can catch her.

INT. PARKING DECK-DAY
An elevator door opens, Kelli exits. Kelli strolls to her
SUV, which is about 30 feet away. A few steps, she tensely
looks behind her.
About 20 feet from her SUV, she DISENGAGES her alarm.
Ten feet away, clutches her purse tightly. Kelli begins to
walk briskly.
Kelli is standing next to her SUV. She grabs for the door
handle, RING! Kelli is startled.
KELLI
Oh!
Beat. She smiles. Answers her cell phone.
KELLI (CONT'D)
Hello.
SECRETARY (V.O.)
You have a package.
KELLI
What is it?
SECRETARY (V.O.)
He'll be bringing it down in a minute.

Kelli puts her phone in her purse. A shadowy figure appears
from behind Kelli. The figure's words are frigid, harsh.
KINKLER (O.S.)
Kelli Camens.
Kelli whirls around.
KELLI
Whew, that was quick. So where is the
package?
The figure is Kinkler. He stares at Kelli. Eyes cold, body
rigid. Shakes his head, No. Swiftly draws a 9mm-hand gun
with silencer.
Kelli freezes, her eyes widen like saucers.
KINKLER
Good-bye darling.
Kinkler SHOOTS Kelli three times. Kelli's body is propelled
into her SUV. Her body lands on it's side.
Kinkler rushes out of the parking deck, into a dark
stairwell.

INT. CAR-DAY
Kinkler quickly, but calmly enters the car. Devonte turns
the radio down. He speaks to Kinkler.
DEVONTE
So did you close the deal?
Kinkler smiles at Devonte.
KINKLER
Yeah, it was flawless. You see this is
why Hector chose me to lead this.
Devonte looks Kinkler up and down. Grabs his arm, they
stare intensely at one another. Devonte lets go Kinkler's
arm.

Oakland.
Kinkler starts the car.

Kinkler puts the car in gear. They drive off.

Cars are speeding down the interstate.
Nick is off on the shoulder of the road, surveying the area
for a new stretch of highway.
Nick is stopped by a co-worker, they talk. Nick's cell
phone RINGS.

Nick eyes widen, his jaws drop. He becomes nervous, and
tense.
NICK (CONT'D)

Nick looks at his co-worker feverishly. Hands trembling,
and his legs have become rubbery. His voice CRACKS. Nick
looks as if he's on the verge of hysteria.
NICK (CONT'D)

Nick disturbed and uneasy, jumps into a State of Georgia
D.O.T. truck, speeding off.

INT. HOSPITAL, EMERGENCY ROOM-DAY
Nick hastily enters a hospital, rushing down the hallway,
to the patient admittance desk. Nick out of breath,
confronts the RECEPTIONIST.

I need to find a patient, Kelli Camens.
The receptionist picks up a clip board, thumbs through
several pages.
RECEPTIONIST
She is in surgery right now.
Nick becomes frantic, impatient.

Where's that?
The receptionist points down the hallway.

Following the red arrows along the floor, Nick rushes down
the hallway.
Nick stops. Arrives at a set of gray steel double doors. He
pushes the doors, they don't open. He looks up.
TRAUMA UNIT NO ADMITTANCE.
A beat. Nick paces. POUNDS on the doors. He gets no
response, rushes to the waiting room.
CUT TO:
INT. HOSPITAL, WAITING ROOM-DAY
Arriving in the waiting room, Nick turns, sees several
doctors and policemen standing in the hallway.
Nick moves towards these individuals.
An INTERN in blue scrubs exits a bathroom. Nick grabs her
by the arm, frantically speaks.
NICK
I'm Kelli Camens husband, how is she
doing.
BLONDE INTERN
She's in OR right now, but someone will
be with you shortly.
Nick takes a deep breath to calm down. Takes a seat in the
waiting area. Nick head is sunken between his legs.
Nick looks up to see two policemen standing over him. One
policeman has a note book, the other is just staring at
Nick.
They are asking Nick question, apparently about the
shooting. Nick frustrated puts his hands on his head. The
officers leave.
Nick sits anxiously in a chair. A DOCTOR in SEMI BLOODY
green scrubs enters the waiting room.
One of the nurses stops him. She whispers in his ear, then
points at Nick.
The doctor slowly walks toward Nick.
DOCTOR IN BLOODY SCRUBS
Mr. Camens.
Nick is about to stand up, the doctor motions for Nick to
stay seated. He sits next to Nick.
The doctor eyes dull. Face blank. His tone solemn.
DOCTOR IN BLOODY SCRUBS
(CONT'D)
We did everything we could but.
Nick rocks his body in agony. He sits back in his seat.
NICK
No, No!
The doctor reaches in an attempt to comfort Nick.
DOCTOR IN BLOODY SCRUBS
Her wounds were too severe. She had
extensive trauma to the chest and
abdomen, which caused massive bleeding.
Nick tosses in his seat. Shakes his head empathically. His
eyes swell with tears.
NICK

The doctor befuddle, just stares at Nick.
Nick rises up, he speaks.
NICK (CONT'D)
Doc, I've got to she her.
The doctor shakes his head, disagreeing. Nick sad, broken,
but determined, speaks.
NICK (CONT'D)
No you don't understand, I'm going to
see her.
The doctor glances at Nick for a second. He concurs. Taps
Nick on the leg. Allows him into the operating room.
Nick reluctant, stands walks away.
CUT TO:
INT. HOSPITAL, TRAUMA UNIT-NIGHT
Nick enters the room slowly. Kelli's body covered on the
operating table.
Nick stands next to the operating table. He unfolds the
sheet back, exposing Kelli's face.
NICK

I'm sorry.
Tears flow steadily from Nick's face. Bends over and kisses
Kelli's forehead.
NICK (CONT'D)

Nick covers Kelli's face, exits the operating room.

INT. HECTOR'S MANSION, LIVING ROOM-NIGHT
Hector Remone sits in a all white leather chair. On a
coffee table, two empty glasses.
Next to Hector, a bottle of champagne chills. He stands.
Kinkler and Devonte enter the living room. Hector two
glasses in hand, champagne in the other, greets them.
Hector hands Kinkler a glass, pours champagne in it. He
walks off, glances at Devonte.
HECTOR REMONE
I take it that you were successful.
Kinkler smiles, takes a swig of champagne.
KINKLER
She didn't even get a chance to scream.
Devonte baffled, glares at the two men.
Hector takes a sip.
HECTOR REMONE
So the debt is paid.
Kinkler walks towards Hector, sipping the last of his
champagne.
KINKLER
It's paid in full.
Devonte angrily speaks.
DEVONTE
What the fuck are you two talking
about, somebody screaming and a debt
being paid? I thought we went to
Atlanta to establish a franchise.
Hector finishes his drink. Gives Devonte a cold, smug
stare.
HECTOR REMONE

Hector sets his drink down on a coffee table.

To settle a debt and test your loyalty.
Devonte folds his lips tightly.

his nails.

Devonte points at Kinkler. Fury explodes from his voice.
DEVONTE

Kinkler moves towards Devonte. Hector extends his arm,
holds Kinkler back.
HECTOR REMONE
It has nothing to do with Kinkler.
DEVONTE

HECTOR REMONE
I owed a debt to Arcadia. That's why
you went to Atlanta, that's why she had
to die.
Devonte's voice is tense, uneasy.
DEVONTE

Hector smirks at Devonte.
HECTOR REMONE
Kelli Camens.
Devonte eyes blaze. His voice THUNDERS with extreme rage
and intensity. Takes two infuriated steps.

Kinkler quickly draws a 9mm hand gun from his coat.
Devonte stops in his tracks.

Still focusing on them, reaches back, opens the front door.

There are rows and rows of people dressed in black sitting
in pews. Their faces are sad and solemn. The SOFT sounds of
an ORGAN surrounds the room.
In the front is a church choir. They are sitting in the
choir stand, waiting to sing.
Below them are SEVEN MEN sitting. Three on the left, three
on the right, all of whom are dressed in black.
The man in the middle is wearing a white robe, he is a
MINISTER. He seems to be in deep thought or meditation.
On the front row of pews Nick is dressed in black, a
hopeless blank expression on his face. His AUNT GERRI and
YOUNGER BROTHER are next to him.
Next to him is Angela and her husband. A steady stream of
tears roll down her cheeks, she sits, staring motionless.
Further on the row is Sha'Ron and her husband. Sha'Ron is
rocking back and forth weeping openly. Her husband's arm is
around her for comfort.
On the church floor is a white marble casket. Kelli Camens
is inside, dead, but she looks asleep.
The organ stops. The minister rises out of his seat. He
takes a deep sigh, then begins.
MINISTER
You know sisters and brothers, we
shouldn't be crying for sister Camens.
I know she was taken away from us by
the evils of society, but she's home.
Beat. The minister stares emphatically. His voice RESOUNDS
with great emotion.
MINISTER (CONT'D)
I don't think you heard me, SHE'S HOME,
AND SHE'S SITTING WITH THE FATHER. NO
WORRIES, NO PROBLEMS, NO PAIN,
(softly)
and she's smiling.
Beat. The minister wipes his forehead with a handkerchief.
He glances at Nick.
MINISTER (CONT'D)
I know brother Camens no amount of
words can comfort your pain and heal
your loss, but I'm here to tell you
God takes care of his children in death
as well as life.
The minister exits the pulpit, moves towards Nick. Grabbing
Nick's hand. He speaks to him.
MINISTER (CONT'D)
I know in time brother Camens you'll
understand, but for now she has made
the journey to a better place.
The minister pulls Nick out of his pew and hugs him.
Nick wipes his eyes, he walks towards Kelli's casket.
Tears are rolling from Nick's eyes. He looks down at his
wife, rubs his hand across her face. He turns and moves on.
Angela follows Nick. Now weeping openly.
Suddenly THREE MEN dressed in suits, wearing shades and
earpieces enter the church.
Two men cordon the back of the church.
The third man walks to the front. Stopping about 3ft away
from the casket. Speaks into the lapel of his coat.
Mike Richardson enters the church. All inside are silent,
their eyes gawking.
Mike Richardson proceeds down the isle. Stops next to
Kelli's casket. Sees Angela, gives a awkward, but brief
smile.
He reaches to put a rose on Kelli's casket.
Angela rushes him, VIOLENTLY SLAPPING his face.
ANGELA
Don't you fucking touch her! How dare
you disrespect my sister by showing
your face!
Angela reaches way back. Attempts to slap him again.
Marcus and David restrain her. They pull her out of the
church. Angela yells irately at Mike Richardson.
ANGELA (CONT'D)
I fucking hate you! I hate you, I hate
you!
Mike Richardson sadly shakes is head. Buries it in his
hands.
FADE:
INT. CAMEN'S HOME, BEDROOM-DAY
Subtitle, Two months later. RUNNING water can be heard from
a shower. RING! RING! RING! RING!
Nick exits the bathroom, grabs a towel, wrapping it around
him. He rushes to answer the phone.
NICK
Hello, Hello.
Nick moves to hang up the phone. He hears a faint voice on
the other end.
CUT TO:
INT. DEVONTE'S HOME, BEDROOM-DAY
Devonte is sitting in the dark. He turns on one dim light.
Speaks to Nick softly, mostly incoherent.
DEVONTE
I couldn't stop it.
NICK
Von, stop what?
DEVONTE
He said that the debt had to be paid,
but he knew the price was high.
(beat)
So he sent us to kill her.
Nick SHOUTS at Devonte.
NICK
Kill who Von!
Devonte grimly responds.
DEVONTE
Hector sent us to Atlanta to kill
Kelli. Nick I didn't know.
Nick eyes flare with anger, he SHOUTS again.
NICK
You son of a bitch! You wait
this shit now! Von you ain't
me. You ain't my boy, you're
And the next time I see you,
die!

Nick SLAMS the phone down. He sits on the bed. He leans
back, gazing blankly.
FADE:
INT. OFFICE-DAY
Documents are cluttered all over Nick's desk. He's holding
a portrait of Kelli. He stares at it. He drops the picture
to the floor. The FRAME and GLASS SHATTER to pieces. He
leaves his desk, exiting the room.
CUT TO:
INT. SEXY BOSS' OFFICE-DAY
Nick sits across from his SEXY BOSS, a mid forties blonde
woman. Nick is burned out.
NICK
I think I'm going to need some time
off.
SEXY BOSS
So I take it you need a leave of
absence.
NICK
Yeah a leave of absence.
SEXY BOSS
So how long?
NICK
A couple of months.
SEXY BOSS
That's fine I understand.
NICK
Thank you.
She embraces Nick.
FADE:
EXT. ABANDON FIELD-NIGHT
A white Range Rover is parked in seclusion. The chrome rims
shine brightly in the moon light.
CUT TO:
INT. RANGE ROVER-NIGHT
Devonte is inside getting AMPED to 2pac. He is dressed in
all black, SMOKING weed and DRINKING Hennessy.
He takes a long TOKE of weed, then CHASES it with Hennessy.
He displays the fury and passion in the music.
He looks in the rear-view mirror, catching his eyes.
DEVONTE
It's all over.
A picture of Nick and Kelli fasten around his rear-view
mirror. He holds it tightly in his hand. Touches the faces
gently.
Looking up, catches his eyes in the rear-view mirror. They
are glazed, filled with malice.
DEVONTE (CONT'D)
It's dying time!
Devonte pulls a black ski mask over his face. Throws his
Rover into gear, SPEEDS off.
CUT TO:
EXT. HECTORS' MANSION, FRONT GATE-NIGHT
One HENCHMEN is patrolling an open front gate. He has a Uzi
automatic, on a shoulder strap.
He stops, LIGHTING a cigarette.
The light flickers, exposing his face.
In the distance SPEEDING headlights are coming closer.
The henchman reacts immediately, radioing for the gate to
close.
As the headlights get closer, he FIRES a few rounds of
shells. Strikes the front grill and windshield.
Devonte floors his Rover, WHAM! Devonte barrels through the
half open gate. The henchmen is struck by the Rover, kills
him instantly.
Devonte ACCELERATES through the driveway. BOOM! DEMOLISHES
Hector's front door.
CUT TO:
INT. HECTOR'S MANSION, LIVING ROOM-NIGHT
Devonte jumps out of the Rover, hooded, wearing all black
carrying two guns. A Teck-9 on a shoulder strap, a glock 40
in a side holster.
TWO HENCHMEN appear in the living room, both carrying
automatic weapons.
BALD HENCHMAN
Motherfucker!
The henchmen FIRE their weapons, both miss.
Devonte FIRES his Teck-9, killing them both.
Devonte rushes to the steps. Another of Hector's henchmen
emerges at the top of the steps. He pulls his weapon out.
BAM! BAM! Devonte is quicker, kills him instantly.
The henchman ROLLS halfway down the steps.
On the second floor Devonte check the first of four rooms.
Devonte KICKS in the first door. Steps half way in, takes a
quick look, exits.
From out of the shadows of the open room, Kinkler appears.
Devonte's back is to Kinkler, unaware of his presence.
Kinkler silently moves. Lines Devonte up in his sights.
KINKLER
(whispers)
Gotcha boy.
CLICK! Kinkler gun has jammed. Devonte turns quickly, he
FIRES his gun, killing Kinkler.
Devonte moves down the hall.
Devonte KICKS in another door, he enters the room.
Hector in the third room cracks the door. Peeking into the
hallway, sees nothing.
He waits half a second and opens the door wider. Hector
looks, still sees nothing. He exits the room, holding a
nickel plated 38 pistol.
BAM! Devonte smacks Hector in the face with the butt of his
gun. Knocks Hector back in the room.
CUT TO:
INT. HECTOR'S MANSION, BEDROOM-NIGHT
Hector drops his gun. Knocked off his feet, blood trickling
from his nose. Looks up, sees Devonte dressed in black. He
begs.
HECTOR REMONE
I don't know how much they are paying
you, but let me live and I'll double
it, no triple it!
Devonte stands over Hector holding his glock 40. He shakes
head No.
Hector continues to beg.
HECTOR REMONE (CONT'D)
No you don't understand. I'm worth
millions. Name your price.
Devonte shakes his head No again. Removes his mask,
revealing his face. Hector's eyes bulge, jaws drop.
HECTOR REMONE (CONT'D)
Oh my god, it's you!
DEVONTE
(bitter)
Surprise!
Hector pleading on his knees, moves closer.
HECTOR REMONE
Von I know you think I betrayed you but
It wasn't up to me. I had to kill her.
Devonte RACKS, then points his glock at Hector.
DEVONTE
Bullshit, you got the juice to make or
break any decision!
HECTOR REMONE
True, but please believe me, this was
even beyond my power.
Devonte waves his hand in the air. Gives Hector a
treacherous grin, he LAUGHS.
DEVONTE
No, not the great Hector Remone,
begging for his life!
From Devonte's glock, he waves a THIN RED BEAM, it catches
Hector's face and chest.
DEVONTE (CONT'D)
You didn't give Kelli Camens a chance
to beg? Did you!
Hector drops his head, shudders it slowly.
Devonte speaks passionately.
DEVONTE (CONT'D)
You know Hector, you spoke of honor and
loyalty. You're right I am loyal.
Beat. Devonte aims his gun at Hector.
DEVONTE (CONT'D)
It just ain't to your motherfucking
ass!
BAM! BAM! BAM! Bullets strike his chest.
Devonte drops his glock to the floor. Falling to his knees,
he points to the ceiling.
DEVONTE (CONT'D)
That was for you Kelli.
CUT TO:
EXT. HECTOR'S MANSION, FRONT PORCH-NIGHT
Using the hole his Rover caused, Devonte exits the house.
BRIGHT LIGHTS blind him. A voice BOOMS over a loud speaker.
POLICEMAN (O.S.)
Drop you weapon and get your hands up!
Devonte can see RED and BLUE SPECKS through blinding
lights.
Devonte turns away from the lights. Lowering the ski mask.
He turns, facing the lights, raises his Teck-9 and OPENS
FIRE.
Devonte strikes some of the lights, police cars. The voice
BOOMS again.
POLICEMAN (O.S.) (CONT'D)
Return fire!
All that is seen is the BLURRY RED and BLUE LIGHTS. All
that's heard is an abundance of GUNSHOTS.
FADE:
EXT. AIRPLANE-DAY
An airplane is flying in the sky. Nick and his Aunt Gerri
are engaged in conversation.
AUNT GERRI (V.O.)
Hello.
NICK (V.O.)
Hey Aunt G, how are you doing.
AUNT GERRI (V.O.)
Hey is this Nick, how are you.
NICK (V.O.)
I need to come home for a while.
AUNT GERRI (V.O.)
Well, you're always welcome.
NICK (V.O.)
Thanks I'll be there tomorrow.
CUT TO:
EXT. STREET-DAY
A taxi pulls up to a two story house. Nick gets out of the
cab, he removes several bags from the trunk.
Nick walks up to the front door of the house. The door
opens his Aunt Gerri (43), about 5'3", clothes and hair
somewhat sassy, but classy. She hugs Nick.
CUT TO:
INT. KITCHEN-NIGHT
Aunt Gerri dries dishes. Nick is sitting at the table
picking his teeth.
NICK
Damn that was good.
Aunt Gerri wipes the counters clean. She stops and responds
to Nick.
AUNT GERRI
Well you know I can throw down when I
have too.
Nick takes a sigh of relief. Nick leans back.
NICK
Man it feels good to be home.
Aunt Gerri joins Nick at the table. Caresses Nick's hand.
AUNT GERRI
Well that's why it's call home, because
it's special.
Nick stares at Aunt Gerri, eyes glazed.
NICK
Mom, dead. Dad, dead, and now Kelli. My
life is over, I got nobody now.
Beat. Nick struggles to continue.
Aunt Gerri squeezes Nick's hand tightly. Lifts his chin up.
AUNT GERRI
Hey you got me, and your younger
brother. We love you no matter what.
Believe me we'll get though this.
Nick smiles. Aunt Gerri gets up, pulling him out of the
seat, hugs Nick tightly.
AUNT GERRI (CONT'D)
Come here. I love you.
Tears stream down Nick's face.
NICK
Love you too.
Nick lets go. Wipes his tears.
NICK (CONT'D)
I think I'll go to bed early tonight, I
had a long flight out of Atlanta.
Aunt Gerri smiles, kisses his cheek. Nick exits the room.
CUT TO:
INT. BEDROOM-NIGHT
Nick is sitting on the edge of a bed. He hangs his head
low. Looking at a fist full of PILLS in one hand, and
swirling a fifth of BOURBON in the other.
He lifts his head to stare at his reflection in the mirror.
Takes a quick look at the pills and bourbon.
He looks into the mirror. A SHADOWY IMAGE reflects in the
mirror.
Nick turns around slowly. The room is empty.
Nick brings the pills to his mouth. Peeks in the mirror
again. The shadowy image is closer.
Turns quickly. Still nothing in the room.
Nick stands. He sits the pills and bourbon on a dresser.
Checks the back of the room.
Nick walks to a closet. Opens the door slowly. Nothing's
inside. Leaving the door open.
Nick turns, he is face to face with Kelli.
KELLI
Hi!
Scared and shocked, he jumps. He looses composure. Nick
turns to run away. WHAM! Into the closet door, knocking
himself unconscious.
CUT TO:
Nick is lying in a bed, MOANING briefly. A MUFFLED voice
awakens him.
Nick opens his eyes, his vision blurred. Tries to focus,
but the image is distorted.
The image walks toward Nick.
KELLI (CONT'D)
I see your finally coming too.
The image is standing over Nick. The face is still blurred,
the shape is clear, it is a female.
Nick grimacing in pain, rubs his head. He slides his body
across the bed to sit up.
NICK
You won't believe who I just saw.
The image sits down next to Nick. Her face is clear and in
focus.
KELLI
No who?
Nick eyes bulge, he jumps back, bumping his head against
the headboard.
NICK
Kelli!
Nick frantically jumps out of the bed. Backs away slowly.
NICK (CONT'D)
It was you! I mean it is you! But how?
Kelli smiles warmly. She motions for Nick to come sit next
to her.
KELLI
Relax, it's me.
Nick slowly walks for the bed. He sits on the very edge.
Kelli invites Nick closer. Nick reaches and POKES her arm
twice.
Nick eases closer. He hugs her tightly.
NICK
So it was all a crazy fucked up dream.
You're not dead, and you are here with
me!
Kelli slowly pushes Nick away.
KELLI
No boo, I am as you saw me last.
Nick stares, dazed, confused.
NICK
If you aren't alive, then why am I able
to see and touch you.
Kelli gets off the bed. She SNATCHES a bottle of pills off
the bedroom dresser.
KELLI
This is why!
Nick looks away.
NICK
You wouldn't understand. Since you left
me life isn't the same.
Kelli sitting next to Nick. Waves a hand in his face.
KELLI
That's the lamest excuse I ever heard!
You're not the man I married, he was a
fighter.
Nick looks at Kelli, his eyes sad.
NICK
I don't wanna give up, but it's easier
to do that.
Kelli holds Nick's hand, gently rubs his face.
KELLI
Nick life doesn't end with the death of
a loved one. It just adjusts.
Nick is silent, he just smiles.
KELLI (CONT'D)
I know you're wondering why I'm back. I
need you. I need you to save my family,
our family.
Nick's baffled.
NICK
Save them from what?
KELLI
Save them from themselves.
NICK
What do you need me to do?
KELLI
You must get Angela and my father to
talk and end their differences. You
have to forgive Von, because he had
nothing to do with my death. Lastly,
whatever it takes you must get Sha'Ron
and Marcus back together.
Nick pulls his hand away from Kelli.
NICK
Kelli what your asking is impossible.
Kelli grabs Nick by the chin. She's irate.
KELLI
Unun! You're not quitting on me. Not
what I had to give up to save this
family!
NICK
So what did you have to give up?
Kelli stares at Nick. Her eyes state you know what, Heaven.
NICK (CONT'D)
Oh.
Nick comforts her.
NICK (CONT'D)
Well will you show me the way.
Kelli DRAWS and "X" over Nick's heart.
KELLI
You know how Nick, just look into your
heart and you'll find a way.
Kelli pulls Nick off the bed. Grabs his neck and waist
tightly.
KELLI (CONT'D)
Come on and dance with me one last
time.
MUSIC UP.
They dance slowly, closely. Kelli rubs her cheek against
Nick's face.
Kelli stops and removes the diamond necklace around her
neck. She places it in Nick's hand.
Nick and Kelli kiss, the images become blurry.
FADE:
Blackness, then brighter until Nick faces is clearly seen.
Nick has just awaken from a deep sleep. He looks around the
bedroom. Seeing an empty room Nick is about to go back to
sleep.
He turns, sees Kelli's necklace hanging from the dresser's
mirror.
FADE:
INT. CLASSROOM-DAY
Angela's hair is in a ponytail. Her glasses rest on the
edge of her nose.
Angela sits at a desk, red pen in hand, grading papers.
Angela turns and types on her computer. Someone KNOCKS on
her door.
ANGELA
Come in.
Nick enters the classroom. HUMOROUSLY he speaks.
NICK
So this is what public education is
reduced to.
Angela bolts out of her seat.
ANGELA
Nick!
Gives Nick a hug.
CUT TO:
Nick is sitting across form Angela. He has a red pen
grading papers.
Nick hands Angela a paper with lots of red marks.
NICK
Did these kids study for this test or
what?
Angela takes the paper from Nick. Types on her computer.
ANGELA
Yeah I know.
Angela sits back.
ANGELA (CONT'D)
So Nick what's up? I know you didn't
come all this way to help me grade
papers.
NICK
You're right I didn't.
Nick crosses his legs.
NICK (CONT'D)
Angie when was the last time you spoke
to your father.
Angela grinds her teeth.
ANGELA
You mean that man named Mike
Richardson! I haven't and I won't!
NICK
Yeah I hear you, your father just going
through the worst trial of his life. He
doesn't need family support.
ANGELA
For what that man put this family
through, his ass can rot in hell!
NICK
Angie I feel your anger, she was your
sister, but she was my wife.
ANGELA
So you want me to pat him on the back,
and act like a family again.
Nick moves closer to Angela, reaching for her hand.
NICK
No I want you to go and talk to him.
Hear what he has to say, then decide
whether to forgive or not.
Angela smiles briefly, she agrees.
ANGELA
Okay.
CUT TO:
INT. HOTEL ROOM-NIGHT
Two men wearing suits are sitting in a well lit hotel room.
They are FBI AGENTS.
One agent is positioned with his chair against the wall,
near the entrance of the doorway.
The second agent is a couple of feet away. He sits at a
desk reading an FBI manual.
Further into the room Mike Richardson is sitting at a table
reading the paper.
The agent near the door stands up, he talks into a two-way
radio.
He opens the door. Angela is quickly whisked in.
Both agents frisk her, check her purse. She is escorted to
Mike Richardson.
Mike Richardson smiles at Angela, motions for her to take a
seat across from him. Angela sits.
MICHAEL RICHARDSON
Damn Angie it's good to see you. I
haven't seen you since...
Angela angrily cuts her father off.
ANGELA
Since the funeral!
Mike Richardson sighs with grief, stares at the table.
MICHAEL RICHARDSON
(dejected)
Yeah, since the funeral.
ANGELA
You know I wasn't going to come here,
but it's something I don't understand.
One sister is dead, the other is a
nervous wreck, and me, I don't trust
anyone.
Angela BANGS on the table in anger.
ANGELA (CONT'D)
But how could you let this happen to
our family!
Mike Richardson grabs Angela's hand, puts his other hand on
top.
MICHAEL RICHARDSON
Let's see. Four years of college to one
of the nations best schools. A clothing
salon, A large mansion in the
California hills, a couple of weddings,
and trips to Rio.
Angela yanks her hand away.
ANGELA
Wait a minute, we never ask for those
things, anyway most of it comes with
the responsibility of being a father.
Mike Richardson reaches out, strokes her hair slowly. Rubs
Angela's cheek.
MICHAEL RICHARDSON
No baby I'm not placing any blame. I
just wanted you to understand how I got
myself into this situation.
ANGELA
Okay talk to me.
MICHAEL RICHARDSON
Well since the government ended it's
appropriated minority contracts,
business was tight. Breaking the good
old boy network was next to impossible.
That's when Arcadia approached me.
Beat.
MICHAEL RICHARDSON (CONT'D)
You know baby I turned him down at
least five times, but with a slumping
business and a greedy nature I accepted
his offer.
Mike Richardson sighs, disgusted, he shakes his head.
Solemnly speaks.
MICHAEL RICHARDSON (CONT'D)
That was the worst mistake of my life.
Angela stares at her father, her eyes are very watery.
Angela is about to speak, the agent comes over, interrupts.
FBI AGENT
Times up.
Angela leaves the table. She is escorted back to the door
by the agent.
Angela turns, RACES towards her father.
Tears flowing from her eyes, gives her father a tremendous
hug.
ANGELA
Daddy!
Mike Richardson squeezes Angela tightly.
MICHAEL RICHARDSON
I love you too baby.
FADE:
EXT. STREET CORNER-DAY
The street is packed with traffic.
Nick crosses the street to a nearby newsstand. Nick gives
the man behind the stand some money.
He hands Nick a newspaper. Reading the front page. ARCADIA
FOUND GUILTY ON ALL CHARGES: SENTENCED TO 35 YEARS.
Nick looks up into the sky, smiles briefly.
CUT TO:
EXT. PRISON-DAY
Nick enters a large brick building, with bars on every
window.
CUT TO:
INT. PRISON-DAY
Nick, paper under his arm, walks down the hallway to a
security check point.
At the check point, Nick puts the paper aside. He empties
his pockets, placing the contents in a plastic tray.
A GUARD runs a metal detector over his body. Slides Nick
the paper, BUZZING him through.
Nick opens a door and slides into a room.
CUT TO:
INT. PRISON INFIRMARY-DAY
Devonte is lying in a hospital bed. Connected to a life
support system. A tube is in his throat.
Nick walks over to Devonte, holds the newspaper so he can
see the headline.
NICK
Check that out.
Devonte doesn't move an inch. Nick puts the paper on a
nearby table. He walks over to the window.
NICK (CONT'D)
Yeah, they didn't get away this time.
Nick sits down next to Devonte's bed. Nick adjusts his
pillows. He talks.
NICK (CONT'D)
You know you said we shared a kinship
with one another, like brothers.
Nick struggles a moment. Continues his conversation.
NICK (CONT'D)
Well Von you were right, and brothers
may fuss and fight, but in the end they
have a love for one another that never
fades.
Nick stands up, leaning over Devonte, kisses him on the
forehead.
NICK (CONT'D)
I forgive you Von, forever my dawg.
Nick lifts up, wipes a tear from his eye. He exits the
room.
Devonte still motionless, a single tear falls from his eye.
FADE:
INT. CLOTHING STORE-DAY
Nick walks through a double glass door. He makes a path
through racks of clothing.
Nick comes to a service desk, where a TEENAGE FEMALE is
working. He talks to her. She makes a call on the
telephone.
A very pregnant Sha'Ron emerges from the back of the store.
Sha'Ron waddles over to Nick, gives him a hug.
SHA'RON
Hey boo I heard you were in Oakland.
NICK
I've been hear a couple of weeks.
Gives Nick a one-eyed stare.
SHA'RON
A couple of weeks huh. Anyway how's the
family.
NICK
Their good, but umm.
Nick rubs Sha'Ron stomach gently.
NICK (CONT'D)
Looks like you're carrying twins. I'm
surprised you're still working.
SHA'RON
Well I'm only coming in a few days a
week, anyway work keeps me busy.
NICK
I feel you, but the reason I came by
was to see if you were free Friday for
dinner.
SHA'RON
Dinner! Oh yeah I'm free.
NICK
Okay.
Nick and Sha'Ron hug.
SHA'RON
Bye.
FADE:
INT. POOL HALL-NIGHT
Nick is at a bar ordering a drink. GRIPING VOICES use
SWEARING as a second language. A JUKE BOX PLAYS R&B
classics.
Nick sees a large crowd gather around one of the pool
tables. Walks over to investigate.
The crowd is watching two men, Marcus and a another well
known POOL PLAYER.
Marcus is cracking jokes and drinking. He focuses on the
table, he's lining up his shot.
MARCUS
Man I can make this shot with your
crossed eyes.
The pool player drinking beer, clutches his pool cue
tightly.
POOL PLAYER
Just shoot the fucking shot.
Marcus glares at the man briefly. He gets ready to shoot.
The crowd of people are very quiet, suddenly A VOICE
PENETRATES the calm.

I got a hundred says you miss.
Marcus stands up, looks to find the voice.
MARCUS
What fool wants to loose his damn
money.
Nick emerges from the crowd.
MARCUS (CONT'D)
What up brother-in-law!
Marcus attempts to walk over to Nick. The pool player stops
Marcus, grabbing his arm.
POOL PLAYER
Shoot first, reunions later.
Marcus gives the pool player an intense scowl.
Marcus walks back to the table, stretches his body across
the table.
CRACK! Marcus shoots, he easily sinks the eight ball.
The crowd CHEERS, Marcus collects money from the pool
player.
As the crowd walks off Nick and Marcus give each other a
hug. Marcus counts his money.
MARCUS
What's up brah.
Nick points at the pool table.
NICK
I see old habits die hard.
Marcus waves the money in the air.
MARCUS
I gotta pay for the drinks with
something.
Marcus bobs his head in anticipation. Gives Nick a devilish
grin. Holding his hand out.
MARCUS (CONT'D)
Speaking of money.
Nick reaches into his pocket, SLAPS five twenties into
Marcus's hand.
NICK
Here you go.
Marcus counts the bills. He reaches into the pool table and
get the balls, puts them on the table.
MARCUS
You wanna win this back.
NICK
Yeah, I'll rack.
The two men are trading pool shots, and sips of beer.
Nick stops in the middle of his shot, speaks to Marcus.
NICK (CONT'D)
When's the last time you've talked to
Sha'Ron?
Marcus stops drinking, his face goes blank.
MARCUS
A while.
NICK
I saw her today.
Marcus sets his beer down.
MARCUS
For real, how's the baby doing?
NICK
Their good, but why don't you see for
yourself?
Marcus smiles briefly.
MARCUS
You must wanna see me in the hospital.
NICK
(chuckles)
Yeah, I guess you're right, but you can
change things if you want to.
MARCUS
I do, but I really fucked up this time.
NICK
You know Marcus we all make mistakes.
Marcus shakes his head, disagreeing with Nick.
MARCUS
This time I really crossed the line.
Anyway I ain't good at apologies.
Nick sets his pool cue down. He looks Marcus deeply into
his eyes.
NICK
Well that's one way of looking at it,
but here's another way. Once Sha'Ron
has the baby brothers are going to be
sweating her. Now answer this.
Nick placing jarring emphasis on his next words.
NICK (CONT'D)
Do you want your child calling another
man daddy?
Beat. Marcus's head drops slightly. Looks up, gives Nick a
very tired gaze.
MARCUS
No.
Nick walks over to Marcus. Removes the pool cue from his
hand. Nick puts his arm around Marcus.
NICK
Good. Now let's get your wife back.
They leave the pool table. Exiting the bar.
FADE:
INT. STORE/BARBER SHOP-DAY
MUSIC UP.
Nick and Marcus are shopping for new clothes.
Nick and Marcus are at the barber shop. Marcus is getting a
complete make-over.
CUT TO:
INT. RESTAURANT-NIGHT
Sha'Ron is waiting up front inside a crowded restaurant.
Nick flashes from around the corner. Waving both hands,
gets Sha'Ron's attention.
NICK
I see you're early.
SHA'RON
(smiling)
Well I am eating for two.
NICK
Since you're in a good mood, close your
eyes for me.
Sha'Ron stares reluctantly, but she closes her eyes.
Nick leads her to a table.
Marcus is sitting. Nick has her standing Sha'Ron across
from Marcus.
NICK (CONT'D)
Okay open them.
Sha'Ron opens her eyes. Sees a grinning Marcus across from
her.
MARCUS
Hey baby.
Her eyes light up and she smiles slightly.
Marcus hair and face are neatly trimmed. He has on a new
set of clothes. A dozen neatly trim roses are in his hands.
Sha'Ron's smile quickly turns into a frown. She glares at
Nick.
SHA'RON
So this is why you wanted to have
dinner with me.
Sha'Ron angrily points at Marcus.
SHA'RON (CONT'D)
If he's hear, then I'm outta hear!
Sha'Ron quickly turns, about to leave. Nick address her
IRATELY.
NICK
Sha'Ron sit your ass down!
Sha'Ron startled by Nick. Stops, turns her head, rolls her
eyes, mumbles to herself, then sits down.
Nick sits down next to Marcus.
NICK (CONT'D)
Now I brought you two hear to talk, and
I not leaving until you both say
something nice.
Nick nudges Marcus.
NICK (CONT'D)
Marcus you go first.
Marcus take a deep breath, he looks intensely into
Sha'Ron's eyes.
MARCUS
Shy, I never seen you look so
beautiful.
Nick nods his head in approval. Taps Sha'Ron on the arm.
NICK
Good start. Sha'Ron.
Sha'Ron peeps at the table.
SHA'RON
Well those are nice roses.
Nick taps Sha'Ron on the hand. Eyebrows arched,
disapproving of her comment.
SHA'RON (CONT'D)
Okay, I really like the new look
Marcus.
Nick smiles warmly at Sha'Ron.
NICK
Now that's much better. So I'm going to
leave you guys to talk, and don't worry
the foods on me.
Nick leaves the table, exits the restaurant.
Marcus enamored. He reaches for her hand. Holding it very
tightly.
MARCUS
So how's my baby doing?
SHA'RON
We're both doing fine.
Marcus, with a brief chuckle, glances at Sha'Ron.
MARCUS
I didn't mean it like that. I'm
concerned for both of you.
Marcus points to his wife swollen stomach.
MARCUS (CONT'D)
The baby should be due in about three
weeks.
SHA'RON
Five weeks.
MARCUS
I guess one day I will get a chance to
see my baby.
Sha'Ron KICKS Marcus's leg.
SHA'RON
Of course silly. Just because we have
issues, doesn't mean that I won't let
you spend time with the baby.
Marcus grabs both of Sha'Ron's hands. Kisses them sweetly,
softly.
MARCUS
Damn, now I see why I married you. Is
there any room in your heart to forgive
me?
SHA'RON
Well Marcus, depending on how sincere
the apology, who knows.
Marcus eyes light up, his face beams.
MARCUS
Let's get the food to go. I only live a
couple of blocks away.
Sha'Ron agrees.
SHA'RON
All right.
Marcus and Sha'Ron continue to talk. They share a laugh or
two.
CUT TO:
INT. MARCUS'S APARTMENT-NIGHT
The door opens to Marcus's apartment. Sha'Ron stays at the
entrance. Marcus walks in. Puts food on the table.
The apartment is small, sparsely decorated with furniture
and very messy.
A TV in the corner, is LOUD, the picture FUZZY. Marcus
motions for Sha'Ron to wait. He turns off the TV.
Marcus tries to clean up the apartment. Overwhelmed by the
clutter, he stops. Clears a spot on the sofa for Sha'Ron.
MARCUS
Okay, here you go.
Sha'Ron slowly walks over to Marcus, helps her sit down.
SHA'RON
Thank you.
Marcus sits next to Sha'Ron. Looking around his apartment.
MARCUS
How do you like my place?
Sha'Ron looks around, gives Marcus an erotic grin.
SHA'RON
It's okay, but could use a woman's
touch.
Marcus puckers his lips, blows her a kiss. Caresses her leg
gently.
MARCUS
Yeah I know.
Sha'Ron frowns. Pushes his hand off.
SHA'RON
Why don't you get your friend to help.
Marcus reclines on the sofa.
MARCUS
I don't even talk to her anymore.
Sha'Ron inches closer.
SHA'RON
Really.
Marcus gets off the sofa. Slowly kneels down between
Sha'Ron's legs.
Marcus with both hands, rubs her thighs slowly. He looks
into her eyes, kisses her nose softly.
MARCUS
I know it's probably too late, but if
you give me one more chance.
Marcus removes his hands. Holding one arm up like a boy
scout, then crosses his heart.
MARCUS (CONT'D)
I'm through with all the cheating and
lying, and I'm ready to be a real man
and faithful husband.
Sha'Ron gently grabs Marcus's chin. Pulls him to eye level.
She looks deep into his soul.
SHA'RON
Answer one question. Is she out of your
life?
MARCUS
Yes!
Sha'Ron caresses his lips.
SHA'RON
Don't hurt me, because if you do, it's
over no more chances.
Marcus moves closer to Sha'Ron's face, he nods in
compliance.
MARCUS
Okay.
Marcus and Sha'Ron give each other a DEEP PASSIONATE KISS.
FADE:
INT. MARCUS' APARTMENT-DAY
A SHOWER FLOWS in the background. Sha'Ron exits from the
bedroom wearing an extra large work shirt. The name tag
reads MARCUS. His apartment is much cleaner than the night
before.
She enters the kitchen. Searches for cooking utensils.
There is a RAPID TAPPING at the door.
Sha'Ron opens the front door.
Standing in the doorway is a well built young lady. She's
grinning.
Sha'Ron's face is etched with anger. Her nostrils flare.
Sha'Ron EXCLAIMS.
SHA'RON
Oh hell no!
The young lady smiling, waves men's boxers in the air.
YOUNG GIRL
Umm, where's Marky? He left these over
my place.
Sha'Ron momentarily stunned, stares loathingly. She turns,
walking away to the bedroom.
The young girl enters the apartment.
Sha'Ron emerges from the bedroom, wearing a long overcoat
and sneakers.
SHA'RON
Tell Marky that I'm gone and don't ever
come back into my life again!
Sha'Ron walks out, WHAM! The door shuts
Marcus enters the room.
Drying his face with a towel. He is shirtless. Wears the
same color BOXERS the young girl is holding.
MARCUS
Hey Shy you ready for breakfast?
The young girl pops from the kitchen. She slides into the
living room.
YOUNG GIRL
Yeah I'm ready.
Marcus drops the towel, he sees the young girl.
Marcus approaches the young girl, eyes and face glaring
with anger.
MARCUS
What the fuck are you doing here!
Marcus moves the young girl out of his way, he looks around
the kitchen.
MARCUS (CONT'D)
Where's Sha'Ron?
The girl SHRUGS her shoulders, stating I don't know.
TWIRLS the boxes in the air.
YOUNG GIRL
I came to give you these.
Marcus snatches the boxes. He points at her. Holds three
fingers in the air.
MARCUS
I told you 3 months ago, it was over.
The girl looks at Marcus, unbuttons her shirt, exposing her
huge breast.
YOUNG GIRL
Yeah I know, but they missed you.
Marcus approaches her, hurriedly closes her shirt.
Grabs her arm, escorts her to the front door.
MARCUS
Get out!
The young girl stops and turns.
YOUNG GIRL
But.
Marcus forces her out. Clutches his fist tightly. His voice
SHATTERS the air.
MARCUS
Get the fuck out!
Marcus SLAMS the door. He walks to the couch, sits slowly.
Marcus throws the boxes across the room.
FADE:
INT. BEDROOM-NIGHT
Subtitle, four 1/2 weeks Later. In a dark bedroom, the dim
light from an alarm clock beams 4:46 am. RING! RING! RING!
From a lump of bed sheets a hand reaches out to answer the
phone. The voice SCRATCHY and tired.
NICK
Hello.
CUT TO:
INT. HOSPITAL-NIGHT
Angela near the emergency room entrance. On a cell phone,
her conversation is FRANTIC.
ANGELA
Nick get up Sha'Ron is having her baby!
Nick's head pops out. Very alert now. Turns on a lamp.
NICK
What?
Angela lowers her tone, speaks slower, clearly.
ANGELA
Sha'Ron's having her baby, and I can't
find Marcus!
Nick flings the covers off. Sits on the edge of the bed.
NICK
Don't worry I'll find Marcus. Where are
you.
ANGELA
St. Luke's downtown, hurry!
Angela hangs up.
Nick jumps off the bed. Scrambles for a shirt and pants,
off the floor.
CUT TO:
INT. HOSPITAL-NIGHT
Sha'Ron lies on a gurney, flustered with major labor pains.
Angela stands next to her. Holds her hand, rubs her arm in
comfort.
Sha'Ron's face is blistering with pain, she YELLS OUT.
SHA'RON
Arrh! Where's my husband!
ANGELA
I called Nick, and he said he was going
to bring Marcus.
Sha'Ron sits up. She takes a deep breath, looks at Angela.
SHA'RON
Well are you going to be there for
me.
Angela squeezes Sha'Ron's hand gently. Gives her a
supporting wink, then smiles.
ANGELA
You know I will.
Another CONTRACTION, Sha'Ron rocks the gurney. Reaches for
Angela's hand, grabs, clutches tightly.
Angela grimaces briefly, manages composer, turns and smiles
SHA'RON
Arrh! Well let's go cause this baby
ain't waiting.
Doctors wheel Sha'Ron to the delivery room, Angela follows.
CUT TO:
INT. CAR-DAWN
Nick and Marcus are stuck in the rush hour traffic.
Marcus visibly frantic, upset.
MARCUS
Hurry up, my wife's having a baby and
I'm missing it!
NICK
Okay, but don't you see that accident
ahead!
MARCUS
I know, but do something!
Nick points to the front of the car.
NICK
I see an opening, hang on.
Nick WEAVES through traffic, drives on the far right
shoulder of the road. He gets off at the next exit.
CUT TO:
INT. HOSPITAL, DELIVERY ROOM-DAY
Sha'Ron in labor. Breathing hard, sweating profusely, and
in tremendous pain.
Angela on one side of her, while nurses and doctors on the
other, help her to deliver.
Sha'Ron YELLS OUT.
SHA'RON
Arhhh!
Angela grabs Sha'Ron's hand. Sha'Ron uses her LAMAS
BREATHING technique, controlling the labor pains.
The DOCTOR tells Sha'Ron to continue.
DELIVERY ROOM DOCTOR
Okay, push and breath. Keep pushing.
Sha'Ron does lamas breathing again. Sha'Ron's face beads
with sweat.
Her facial expression indicates great pain. Sha'Ron pushes
again.
SHA'RON
Ahhh! Get this baby out now!
DELIVERY ROOM DOCTOR
Okay it's coming push, push.
SHA'RON
This baby better come out, or you
better snatch it out cause I ain't
pushing no more!
Sha'Ron steadies herself against the bed. She takes a deep
breath.
Sha'Ron's cheeks red with tension. Her face and sheets are
soaked with sweat.
Sha'Ron SCREAMS. She gives one last mighty push.
SHA'RON (CONT'D)
Ahhhhhh!
A BABY CRIES. The doctor smiles with joy.
Sha'Ron and Angela are exhausted, but smile with joy.
CUT TO:
EXT. HOSPITAL-DAY
Nick and Marcus drive to front of the hospital. Nick stops
the car.
MARCUS
Okay let me out here.
Marcus jumps out of the car. He bolts into the hospital.
CUT TO:
INT. HOSPITAL-DAY
Marcus stops an ORDERLY in the hallway. He needs directions
The orderly points down the hallway. Marcus walks in that
direction.
Marcus passes David and his kids in a waiting area.
CUT TO:
INT. HOSPITAL, RECOVERY ROOM-DAY
Marcus enters the room. Angela is holding a baby. Sha'Ron
is sitting up. Awake but very exhausted.
Marcus sees Sha'Ron, gives a big grin. She smiles. Marcus
slowly enters the room.
MARCUS
Hi.
SHA'RON
Hello.
Marcus sits next to Sha'Ron.
MARCUS
I know I'm probably the last person you
want to see.
Sha'Ron pushes him.
SHA'RON
Shut up Marcus. I talked to your
friend, and I know what's up. So come
hold your baby girl.
Angela brings Marcus the baby. She exits the room.
Marcus holds a beautiful, sleeping baby girl.
SHA'RON (CONT'D)
Where's Nick?
Marcus plays with the baby.
MARCUS
He's parking the car.
CUT TO:
INT. HOSPITAL, RECOVERY ROOM-DAY
Nick enters the room.
Marcus is sitting next to Sha'Ron, they both play with
their baby.
NICK
So here's the happy family.
SHA'RON
Hey Nick!
NICK
So that's the baby.
Sha'Ron calls Nick closer.
SHA'RON
Come over and say hi to your niece.
Nick walks over, he gently takes the baby from Marcus.
Marcus exits the room. Nick sits next to Sha'Ron.
NICK
She's so pretty.
SHA'RON
Guess what her name is?
NICK
What?
SHA'RON
Kelli Katrina Robinson.
Nick smiles, kissing the baby's forehead.
NICK
K.K.
Sha'Ron motions Nick to come closer.
SHA'RON
Come here.
Makes Nick lower his head, she gently kisses his forehead.
SHA'RON (CONT'D)
Thank you for saving our family, Kelli
would have been proud of you.
Nick's eyes water.
Angela peeks into the room.
ANGELA
Shy you have a visitor.
Mike Richardson enters the room, grinning. Carrying a
gigantic teddy bear.
Sha'Ron EXCLAIMS emotionally.
SHA'RON
Daddy!
MICHAEL RICHARDSON
Now you know I couldn't let my little
girl have her first child and not be
here.
Nick walks towards Mike Richardson. He hands Mike
Richardson the baby, takes the teddy bear.
NICK
Here's your granddaughter sir.
The rest of the family has entered the room, their is much
laughter.
Nick places the teddy bear in an empty chair. He exits the
room.
CUT TO:
INT. HOSPITAL, HALLWAY-DAY
Nick stops in a vacant hallway. He looks up in the air and
speaks.
NICK
I did it. I don't know how baby, but I
did it. You were right family is
everything. I may have lost you, but I
gained a closer much tighter family.
Nick points to his heart.
NICK (CONT'D)
Kelli as long as I keep you in here,
you'll never be forgotten. I love you.
MUSIC UP.
Nick walks away and rejoins his family.
Everyone is laughing and having a good time.
