Must hold a level 3 qualification in Playwork,
Childcare or equivalent
Monday to Friday 9.30 – 12.30
Rate of pay £10.00 per hour which includes an allowance for preparation,
planning and specific admin

Manager and then to the Governing Body of
Crossgates CP School, CSSIW and Estyn

Play Assistants x 2
Main Purpose of Post:
To develop and maintain a safe and stimulating play/learning environment and to
develop opportunities which encourage children’s Social, Physical, Intellectual,
Creative and Emotional development through play.
Principal Responsibilities:
1. Children
1.1
Ensuring the provision of a safe and stimulating Early Years
environment in which children are able to learn/play through planned
activities.
1.2
Plan, prepare and deliver activities, which meet children’s individual
developmental needs in line with Foundation Phase.
1.3
Co-ordinate and ensure collection of children from school/s and the
safe delivery to parents and/or named carers.
1.4
To work face to face with the children registered with the Early Years
setting.
1.5
To follow guidelines and procedures for Child Protection as
recommended by the registering authority.
1.6
Administering first aid as appropriate.

Manage co-ordinate and supervise the activity of the Play assistants
and Volunteers.
Be responsible for the co-ordination of team meetings to facilitate the
planning and preparation of activities.
Liaise with parents, schools and other agencies as appropriate.
Encouraging parental involvement and support of the Setting.
Develop practices, which meet identified quality indicators.
3. Administration
3.1
Carry out day-to-day such as administration, registers and record
keeping.
3.2
Carry out administration to update information that is required to meet
CSSIW regulations.
3.3
To maintain appropriate records, registers and reports to ensure legal
and regulatory requirements are met.
3.4
To ensure records and systems are maintained.
3.5
To produce regular progress reports for the governing body
3.6
To attend internal and external meetings as necessary, to ensure that
successful delivery and development of the service.
3.7
To support organise and conduct various fundraising activities.
4. Legal
4.1
To ensure that all aspects of service provision meet with the
requirements of relevant legislation e.g. The Children Act 1989.
Powys EYPP Early Years, CSSIW & Estyn.
4.2
To undertake the personal Health and Safety responsibilities within
the HASAWA 1974
4.3
To undertake the Health and safety responsibilities which fall with the
HASAWA 1974.
4.4
To ensure that all activities are operated in accordance with Equal
Opportunities Legislations and all policies as agreed by the Governing
Body.
5. CRB
This position is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and
is subject to ISA Registration and a CRB Disclosure Check.
This position has a requirement for an Enhanced CRB Disclosure and ISA
registration as it is classed as Regulated Activity under the Vetting and
Barring Guidance, 2009.
6. Welsh Competency Level 2
I can communicate routine tasks requiring a simple exchange of
information on familiar topics and activities. I can handle very short social
exchanges, even though I can't usually understand enough to keep the
conversation going myself.
