STAR CARE HEALTH SERVICES FIRST TO INTRODUCE WEB-BASED
TECHNOLOGY TO CUT COSTS, IMPROVE QUALITY OF HOME HEALTH
CARE.
(ODESSA, TEXAS) Star Care Health Services, a comprehensive home
health care services provider in Texas, New Mexico and Kansas, has
announced the release of a proprietary, web-based program that
fully integrates all aspects of home health care information to
improve quality, cost control, and accountability. This new
electronic health records technology combines updated medical
information for home health nursing care including hospice
services, provider services, medical equipment services, home
rehabilitation and therapy services. Designed and developed by inhouse software engineers at Star Care, it is the first
comprehensive system that allows physicians, healthcare providers,
the patient and their family full access to medical information 24
hours a day, 7 days a week, according to Ravi Shakamuri, Chief
Executive Officer of Star Care Health Services.
“With President Bush’s goal of providing Americans an electronic
health records system within 10 years, and the overwhelming
research supporting patient interest in such a system, Star Care
is the first to introduce web-based health records to the home
care segment of the health care industry,” adds Shakamuri. “Now
accurate communication and accountability between the hospital,
physicians, and Star Care’s health care professionals will result
in providing the patient and their families with timely
information to make knowledgeable and sound decisions regarding
their treatment.”
The new software program, called “ SCORE (Star Care Online Record
Enterprise)”, is HIPPA compliant and allows Star Care personnel to
maintain quality & consistency between all health care
professionals serving a patient by providing timely access to
medical records for treatments, medications and therapies provided
to the patient. Access to that information by the patient and
approved family members no matter where they may live establishes
the continuity of care with their physicians. “For instance,”
comments Shakamuri, ”if I lived in Louisiana and my mother were
receiving on-going treatment by any one of the Star Care’s home
health providers in Odessa, Texas, I could keep track of her
medications, vital signs and treatment details no matter where I
am, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It provides peace of mind,
connecting family members when there are extensive demands on
their time. With Star Care’s 127 bit encrypted web site, I can see
when her blood pressure or sugar is not doing well, then contact
my mom’s physician and setup an appointment so that she can get
timely treatment, preventing hospitalization or a midnight visit
to the emergency room. Physicians can keep track of all the
medications taken by the patient at their home from multiple
doctors and over the counter medications. It cuts costs, improves
communication, saves time waiting for medical records, reduces
potential medical errors and makes quality health care more
accessible and responsive to the person receiving treatment.”
Based in Odessa, Texas, Star Care is the only comprehensive home
health care organization that meets all patient needs including
home health (nursing) services, hospice services, provider/
private duty services, home oxygen and medical equipment and home
therapy services in West Texas with additional offices in New
Mexico & Kansas. The company is driven by its commitment to
patient accountability, quality of care and the cost-effective
services it provides. For additional information visit
