Please be reminded that, though we are on a Shortened Day Schedule every Tuesday, not
every Tuesday is a designated as Common Planning Time for departments. LAUSD
identifies 14 Tuesdays throughout the year as Professional Development Days for
schoolwide identified needs. As we move into Grade Level Houses this year, we have
designated 1 Common Planning Time per month as Grade Level House time.
I encourage you to work with your administrator to create a plan for your Departmental
Common Planning Time. Topics for your department might include, but are not limited
to: identification of standards to focus upon, creation of specific standards-based lessons,
analysis of student work samples from the same lesson, data analysis of Period
Assessments, creation of common assessments, etc.
