CHAPTER COUNCILOR’S GUIDE TO
ALA MEMBERSHIP PROMOTION
As the ALA representative for your state, you are also in the unique position of being
able to help ALA reach potential members in your state.
Here’s how:
1.
Identify someone in your state to be ALA Membership Coordinator.
2.
Get that name to the ALA Chapter Relations Office by calling (800) 545-2433 ext.
2429, or emailing dwood@ala.org
3.
Give that person the number of the Chapter Relations Office.
The Office will then contact your ALA Membership Coordinator before your state
conference to send them a variety of ALA membership materials including:

ALA member ribbons
ALA Editions and Graphics catalogs
Membership applications
Latest ALA information
Sample copies of American Libraries
Your coordinator can choose to receive:




A box of materials
Tabletop display
Table skirt
All of the above
The Chapter Relations Office will reimburse any expense incurred in returning materials
to us after your conference.
If you do not give a name to the Chapter Relations Office, the Office will assume that
you are the coordinator and contact you prior to your state conference.
Please assist us in reaching new members in your state by volunteering someone (or
yourself) to be our contact.
