ACADEMIC PROJECTS AND TRAININGS
1. Six months Dissertation project carried out under the supervision of Dr. Sasikumar
Menon, Director at S. P Mandali’s Institute For Advanced Research In
Interdisciplinary Sciences, Therapeutic Drug Monitoring Laboratory. Sion(E) ,
Mumbai, India, on the topic “Quantification Of Quercetin From Bougainvillea
spectabilis Spps.(Wild And Cultivated) By RP-HPLC-DAD” (2010).
The aim of the project was to
a. Extract and quantify the flavonoid Quercetin from Bougainvillea spectabilis
leaves (cultivated and wild).
b. To develop a simple and rapid method for detection and quantification of
Quercetin from Bougainvillea spectabilis using HPLC.
c. To Study regional variation in the quantity of Quercetin present in wild and
cultivated species.
2. Six months training in BIOEQUIVALENCE and BIOAVAILABILITY clinical trials
at S. P Mandali’s Institute For Advanced Research In Interdisciplinary Sciences,
Therapeutic Drug Monitoring Laboratory , Sion(E) , Mumbai. India, Work Included
Method development and Method Validation of drug molecules belonging to various
therapeutic categories like Anti-hypertensive, Anti-Malarial drugs in Human plasma
using methods and techniques like HPLC, LC-MS/MS, Liquid–liquid extraction,
Solid Phase Extraction technique. (2010)
3. Molecular Diagnostic Project currently being carried out under the supervision of Dr.
Renuka Kulkarni-Munshi at Department of Clinical Pharmacology,BYL Nair Ch.
Hospital, Mumbai on the topic “ Detection of polymorphisms in Folate Pathway genes
in Pediatric Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia patients-A Pharmacogenetic approach”.
Work includes the following steps: To take detailed Medical History of the patient,
Isolation of genomic DNA from Blood, Use of Polymerase Chain Reaction for
amplification of Gene of Interest, Use of Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism
method for ascertaining the genotype of the patient. Clinical Co-relation of the genotype
with the drug metabolism.

Standardization and Validation of estimation of Anti-epileptic drug Levetiracetam in
serum using Reverse phase HPLC.
ACHIEVEMENTS
 Awarded 3rd prize in model making (Nuclear reactor) competition at intercollegiate
chemistry festival organized by Department of Chemistry, St. Xavier’s College,
Mumbai, India.
 Graduate Research Assistant studentship obtained at University of Manitoba, Canada
