SINGLE TICKET SALES BEGIN MONDAY, JUNE 27th FOR THE GRAND’S
2011-2012 PERFORMING ARTS SEASON
GALVESTON ISLAND, TEXAS (22 June 2011). Single ticket sales begin this Monday, June
27th as the Grand 1894 Opera House announces a star-studded Performing Arts Season for 20112012 - “We’re Making History at The Grand”. The season-opener that’s “Just Too Good To Be
True” will feature Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons – center stage for “Oh, What a Night” on
September 17th at 8pm.
Showcasing a season filled with performances that range from Legends like Carol Burnett,
Frankie Valli and Vikki Carr; High Notes with The Midtown Men and The Texas Tenors;
Laughter with Sinbad and A Tuna Christmas; Masters featuring Chris Botti, Natalie MacMasters
and Donnell Leahy; Broadway productions including The Wizard of Oz and Young Frankenstein;
and Encores by The Oak Ridge Boys, Ronnie Milsap and more – The Grand will, indeed, be
making history. Don’t get sold out of your favorite shows! Subscription packages are on sale
now and individual ticket sales begin June 27th at 9am.

Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, September 17, 8pm - One of Rock and Roll’s
most enduring stars, Valli rocketed to stardom following his iconic American Bandstand
performance of “Sherry” with the Four Seasons.
The Midtown Men, October 1, 8pm – Four award-winning stars from the original cast
of Jersey Boys have reunited to showcase their own unique musical style and charisma.
Deer Camp, The Musical, October 21-22, 8pm/8pm – Prepare to laugh your antlers off
in an “on target” musical comedy hit.













Masters of the Fiddle – Natalie MacMaster and Donnell Leahy, October 23, 3pm Two of the world’s most celebrated Celtic artists are sure to leave you breathless from
their fiddle-driven music, dance, and song.
Nai-ni Chen Dance with The Ahn Trio, October 29, 8pm – A “Temptation of the
Muses” performance that will showcase the grace and splendor of Asian art combined
with the dynamic freedom of American modern dance.
The Wizard of Oz, November 12-13, 8pm/3pm - This “greatest family musical of all
times” will have you traveling down the Yellow Brick Road mesmerized with spectacular
special effects, dazzling choreography, and wonderfully singable songs such as
“Somewhere Over the Rainbow”!
Rodgers and Hammerstein’s South Pacific, November 19, 8pm - This Tony-Award
winning production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s beloved 1949 musical about love,
overcoming prejudice, and making heroic sacrifices is as relevant today as it was over six
decades ago.
Marilyn Maye and Gregg Edelman – Broadway Their Way – November 26, 8pm –
This intimate evening pairs famed singer and entertainer Maye with movie, television,
and theatre actor Edleman for a perfect Thanksgiving weekend musical treat.
A Tuna Christmas, December 13-18 ( call for show times) – You’re sure to fill your
holiday stocking with plenty of laughter as the famous ( or infamous!) citizens of Tuna,
Texas come home for Christmas at The Grand.
Jerry Jeff Walker, January 7, 8pm - Returning for his annual New Year’s concert,
Walker will sing such favorites as “Mr Bojangles” and “LA Freeway”, as he entertains in
his true style of “say what you mean, sing what you say”.
The Texas Tenors, January 14 -8pm - These three good ol’ Texas pals will combine
their personal charisma, powerful harmonies, and “America’s Got Talent” energy for an
evening of country, contemporary, and operatic favorites.
Fiddler on the Roof, January 15, 4pm - This, internationally beloved musical - winner
of 9 Tony Awards – comes to life on stage at The Grand with such favorites as
“Matchmaker, Matchmaker” and “Sunrise, Sunset.”
SPAMALOT, January 21, 3pm/8pm – Recipient of “Best Musical” award as well as 14
Tony Award nominations, this production of “zany parodies of Broadway theatre” returns
to The Grand.
The Oak Ridge Boys, January 28-29, 7.30pm/3pm – Returning for their tenth
anniversary of performing on stage at The Grand, you won’t want to miss reminiscing to
such chart-topping hits as “Elvira” and “Thank God for Kids”.
Igudesman and Joo, February 4, 8pm - Aleksey Igudesman and Richard Hyung-ki Joo
combine classical artistic virtuosity and enchanting music with zany humor and hilarious
theatricality.
Chris Botti, February 12, 4pm - Trumpeter Botti has become THE biggest-selling jazz
instrumentalist artist in the United States with four #1 Jazz albums, and multiple Gold,








Platinum, and Grammy Awards. Performing with his 7-piece band, Botti is sure to
“make history” at The Grand!
The 5 Browns, March 3, 8pm – The first group – ever! – of five siblings to attend The
Julliard School at the same time and the first sibling quintet to perform on five pianos at
the same time… these “Five Fab” are, indeed, “the biggest classical music sensation in
years”.
Doubt – Montana Repertory Theatre, March 9, 8pm - This Pulitzer Prize, Drama
Desk, and Tony-Award- winning production is the story of a strong-minded woman faced
with a difficult decision: Should she voice her concerns about one of her male colleagues
– even if she’s not entirely certain of the truth?
Young Frankenstein, March 17, 3pm/8pm – This spectacular Broadway musical

Laughter and Reflection with Carol Burnett, April 21, 8pm - Radiating with laughter

Mariachi Sol de Mexico de Jose Hernandez, with special guest – Vikki Carr, May 5,
8pm – The Grand’s history-making season will come to a spectacular close on Cinco de
Mayo as the nation’s premier Mariachi band and El Paso native and singer extraordinaire
