POSITION SPECIFICATION
POSITION TITLE: Engineering Intern
REPORTING TO: Manager of Process Engineering and R&D
LOCATION: Primary work location is in Rogers, Arkansas.
EMPLOYER: Superior Industries is a publicly-traded manufacturer with operations and
business ventures in the United States, Mexico, and India. Superior is a producer of cast
and flow form OEM aluminum wheels for the automotive sector. The employer is
strategically positioned to dynamically grow market share by investing in the right people
and right technology.
RESPONSIBILITY
SUMMARY:
• The incumbent will assist the Process Engineer in the definition of process
specifications and technical documentation for new products. Under guidance he will
collect process variables data, perform analysis, implement changes and document the
knowledge obtained.
• The incumbent under direct supervision will update existing procedures and formats to
measure, analyze and document process variables to improve our manufacturing
processes.
• Under guidance the incumbent will identify the areas that need to be optimized to
improve our process control and develop and implement appropriate process control
procedures.
• Develop a specific continuous improvement project to improve our process, improve
quality and/or reduce production costs.
Additional key duties consist of:
• Produce, correct and update process analysis tools, such as procedures, control charts,
data tables, data trends, DOE’s.
• Provide engineering support to trouble shoot and resolve technical problems.
• Aid in the design and development of manufacturing processes for enhancements,
product changes, new products, and related fixtures and tooling that are consistent with
zero defect level and low product cost.
• Participate in kaizen/lean teams to improve quality, productivity, team member
engagement and reduce costs.
• Provide daily engineering technical support for process control and process
development.
• Determine process, equipment and materials specifications. Evaluate products/processes
according to specifications, cost and quality standards.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE PREFERED:
• Materials Science, Mechanical, Chemical or Industrial Engineering student with 1-3
semesters remaining prior to graduation or MS candidate in the same areas.
• Good understanding of materials science, heat transfer and flow mechanics.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and tools.
• Computer skills must include proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point.
AutoCAD Pro and FEA software is a plus.
• Equipment, Tooling and fixture design experience is a plus.
PERSONAL

culture and working at all levels in the organization. Excellent oral and written
communication skills are required, as are good leadership skills and the ability to gain the
respect and trust of others.
