University of Science and Technology of China (USTC)
The University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) is the only university affiliated with the Chinese
Academy of Sciences (CAS). It is one of the China’s key comprehensive universities for the study of frontier
high-tech, and management sciences as well as the liberal arts. The university was founded in Beijing in
September 1958. In the early 1970’s, USTC moved to Hefei City, the provincial capital of Anhui Province. Since
1978, USTC has initiated and implemented a series of open and reforming measures with a forward-looking
sense and innovative spirit. With the special support and construction by the Chinese government in the past two
decades, USTC has now become an important national base for high-quality talent cultivation and high-level
scientific research. It is one of the most influential universities of China. From 2000, USTC had joined Chinese
Government Scholarship Programs (CGSP).
