Random Combinatorial Structures is associated with the 11th Annual Rowlee Lecture (http://math.unl.edu/pi/events/Rowlee2007), to be given by Béla Bollobás on April 20th, 2007. The conference will bring together many prominent researchers in the field of probabilistic combinatorics. The main purpose of this meeting is to create an environment in which interactions and research links between established senior faculty and younger researchers (both graduate students and new Ph.D.s) can flourish. To this end, there will be nine plenary talks and the rest of the time will be devoted to informal interactions. We encourage everyone with an interest in this field to attend. We hope to be able to provide lodging for graduate students and recent graduates, as well as some travel support, conditional on NSF funding. In addition to a second lecture by Prof. Bollobás, the following people have agreed to speak: Paul Balister József Balogh Joshua Cooper Alan Frieze Zoltán Füredi Boris Pittel Prasad Tetali Catherine Yan If you are interested in attending please email mailto:rcs@math.unl.edu. Please forward this announcement to people, especially graduate students, who might be interested. ================================================================= 3. *** Graduate Student Combinatorics Conference - Seattle, WA April 21-22, 2007 *** -----We would like to announce that the third annual Graduate Student Combinatorics Conference will be held at the University of Washington in Seattle, WA on April 21-22, 2007! As its name suggests, this conference is for and about graduate student research. It will feature contributed 20-minute talks from graduate students, a keynote address by Professor Vic Reiner of the University of Minnesota, and a social program. More information and an online registration form are now available at the conference's website at http://www.math.washington.edu/~gscc07/ While you are encouraged to apply to speak, you do not have to speak in order to attend the conference, and you do not need to present original research in order to give a talk -- you can simply talk about an appropriately advanced topic that interests you. Some support will be available, depending on funding and when you apply. Please consult the above website for further details. We welcome your inquiries; if you have any, please direct them to gscc07 (at) math.washington.edu. ================================================================= 4. *** (Your Regular) Workshop on Extremal Graphs and Hypergraphs - Pittsburgh, PA - May 5-6, 2007 *** -----What: (Your Regular) Workshop on Extremal Graphs and Hypergraphs Why: The topic of this informal workshop is extremal problems for graphs and hypergraphs, with a special interest in the Regularity Lemma.
