2015 Varsity/ASA League Rules: (Supplement to the ASA Team Manual-01/21/15)

3. Umpire fee:
Softball game fee $45-$95 and Baseball game fee $35-$65
4. Format:
Single / *Double headers(Softball only) = *2015 due to field availability
5. Softball:
The De Beer Clincher is official league ball. ASA Majors Clincher Gold.
6. Bases:
The Umpire brings Home Plate. Teams bring 2 bases &1 double base).
7. Time Limit: 1 hour 20 min. Ties can go into 8th inning before time limit.
8. Forfeits:
20 minutes for single game & 40 for doubleheader or when
8th player appears. Game must start if 8 players are present.
9. Official Game: Complete game = minimum of 5 innings or the time limit.
10. 8 man rule:
Start with 8 - 9th batter is an out. Add to 10, by 5th must bat last.
11. Mercy Rule: Losing team must bat 5 times. Game ends when a team scores 10th run.
12. # of Players: Teams may use the maximum – 10 Fielders & 11 Batters
13. OH:
The Offensive Hitter is an option and can be interchangeable with a
defensive player. The batting order stays the same.
14. Runners:
Designated runner for pitcher, catcher and/or an injured player.
(only 2 get runners). Extra player first, then last batted out.
15. Profanity:
ASA national rule–1 warning, next incident out is declared.
16. Ejections:
Verbal abuse, intimidation, unsportsmen behavior will not be tolerated.
Ejection results = minimum of 1 game suspension. Player must leave.
17. Leading:
No leads until pitcher releases ball. Pick off is a force play
18. Appeal/Protest: All appeals are verbal. Protests must be written within 24 hrs.+ $25 fee.
19. Uniform rule: Matching shirts w/ #. Softball pants/shorts OK. No Dungeres! 1 strike!
20. Prizes:
Division & Playoff sponsor trophies. Championship team-prize.
21. Playoffs:
Single/*double elimination (depends on fields). All teams make playoffs.
22. Playoff Time: Mercy rule & time limit are in effect (Weekend & weeknight - 1 ½ Hr.)
23. International: Game tied after 7th inning (time permitting) last out in 7th takes 2nd base.
In playoffs, game continues this format until there is a winner.
24. Rosters:
20 man roster. Rosters are due 2nd week or no schedule.
25. Restricted list: Restrictions on A, B, &C pitchers. ASA Majors-A,B,C. Sun.Diamond/Silver-C
ASA Bd. of Directors -League Coalition Presidents rates list monthly.
26. Results:
Winning team calls SI Advance with results (981-1234 ext.3 after 6pm)
27. DH:
Effective 2011 –In all Divisions - Designated Hitter for pitchers.
28. Cancellations: No cancellations team gets loss. Notification (12 hours)try to make up.
29. Make –ups:
Make ups- Weeknights–Wednesdays, Sunday – Saturdays
30. Bunting/Stealing: Effective 2014, the ASA Majors (Mon/Wed) will include bunting & stealing
New rules 2015: Clinchers in all division except ASA Majors (Clincher golds).
Bats: Altered Bats –player is suspended for 1 year.
New 2015 – Re instituted - ASA Majors(Mon/Wed) & Major A (Thurs/Fri)
Game times–Sundays: 8:15am &9:45, 11:15 &12:30, and 2:15 & 3:30 pm.
Weeknite games are 6:20. Berry Homes m/w 7:00 & 9:00 / f 6:15,7,45,9:15.
