It was unique and caught my eye.
This was an exceptional example of bringing history & current events
together in telling the story of Mihtohseenionki.
I was happily surprised by the interactive exhibit as well as the gallery’s
interaction with contemporary & historical knowledge & ways of knowing.
I am very excited about the “hands on” learning w/the stations.
My agent told me so.
Because if was kinda cool and I’m being nice.
Feels stark-I can’t stand feeling so removed from this exhibit. The lighting is
wrong, the interactives are wrong, the color is so cold and unearthy. I can’t
stand it.
It was a really cool exhibit. I learned more and had fun. I liked the paintings.
Great exhibit. Comment: Crying children should not be permitted in the exhibits.
This is stunning. The stories, the artifacts, the history, the image of “According to
Webster” will always remain with me.
Indians are cool!
I kinda wish you had ear phones to use- when others were talking, it was difficult
to hear narratives.
I go to Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. It is interesting to learn about the tribe.
I thought it was interesting.
Really enjoyed the museum! Need more like this.
It was Cool! (3)
1st Miami video poor photography – slow uninteresting – other videos great. All
gallery lighting too low – difficult to read text and I have 20/20 sight!
Sore feet meant I could not see it all. There is a typo on the Moki description.
There is no “e” on while.
Displays are too dark.
I thought it was wonderful.
Because I enjoy learning about the past.
Beautiful. Very well laid out – appreciate the hands on “how to do” displays.
Computer map/history hard to navigate. Lighting not bright enough to see some
items. Informative table demonstration.
Museum has nice contrast between information & interactive displays. Great for
kids or adults. Volunteers very knowledgeable. Thanks!
I loved the total immersive feeling as I flowed through the exhibit. Also the
melancholy felt by the text, photos, soft music, low lighting & water sounds
create a totally sympathetic & learning mood in the museum visitor.
Awesome!
Boring for kids.

It has a lot of good use of information.
Because it was amazing.
Note: Someone needs to be looking after minor housekeeping – pens not working
– volume too low on videos – otherwise a great interactive set-up. Thanks!
Wonderful but too dark.
It is far too noisey – hard to hear the different stations – more noise filtering
would be nice. Otherwise excellent job!
It would have been nice to see more works of art but mostly by Native Americans.
Really was most interested in history of Indian life & culture then the dates.
Where is the Catliuite/Pipestone Art? Where is the weaponry art/ stone
arrowheads/ flint knapping? Disappointly absent!
I loved it all.
Fascinating – even to my 3 boys. Really kept their attention.
It was very interesting and fun!
I would recommend it!
There needs to be more lighting, the galleries were not bright enough took detail
away from the pieces.
More research should be done on the Tohnolaway Tribe. We were declared
extinct in the late 18oo’s. Today, myself and approx. 20 family members are the
last people able to claim ¼ or above Tohnolaway Tribal blood.
Computer not working. Lighting is poor – hard to see some displays.
Very informative, lots of relevant information.
This exhibition showed me the Indian History of Indiana.
This is a beautiful, eloquent and powerful gallery exhibit, one of the best I’ve
seen.
Very different and interesting. (1)
I loved the museum. The artwork was very beautiful. The glasswork was
amazing.
It shows a variety of things about the Indian tribes and their culture.
The whole thing is heart breaking.
I am interested in art work and Indians but the overall didn’t really catch my eye.
I liked the gift shop better.
Educational and interesting.
I like the clothing and the weaved objects more than the maps & videos.
The whole museum filled my spirit.
Advances my understanding of the original inhabitants.
Need lighting in large glass display areas – too dark. Otherwise – wonderful!
Exceptional museum – respectful & informative. A very personal experience.
Very interesting, wonderful displays, computer and video stories were of good
quality & interest. Southwestern items are our favorite.
It was very informative & moving experience even though I am not a Miami
Indian.

Excellent portrayal that shows that Native Americans still exist in this area and
that they are striving to preserve their culture. Many in this country are not aware
of this and need to be informed.
I didn’t realize so many Natives still practiced their traditions. Very enlightening.
The man with the beaver hat gave a wonderful talk.
Excellent stations. Basket weaving semi-class was great.
I loved it to death.
I like learning about Indians & this is pretty cool!
Well documented & displayed. Very interesting & visual. Fantastic collection &
gallery space.
Because everything was explained well.
I am of Cherokee descent. I wanted to see more detailed timeline of American
Indians and the way settlers overtook our lands.
I thought that all of this helps us remember and see what our heritage is.
Because it is real.
This is a very well done exhibit. It really help me see things I might not have
gotten to see otherwise.
I would suggest you talk to some of your guards regarding gum chewing/popping.
It is very distracting to hear that constant popping – plus rude in the Chihuly
exhibit upstairs.
The beadwork is so beautiful, but I wish it was better lit. In general, all works in
the cases were not well-lit. I don’t know if it’s a preservation issue.
I’ve learned the Miami Tribe of Indiana should be recognized/given sovereign
status.
Video was not as interesting as it could have been.
I loved the glass- it looked so beautiful w/all the colors. You had clever ideas with
the area where you do hands on learning. I want to come back.
My Dad, Charles A. Powers was born in 1896 in Bunker Hill, IN. A boy in his
class was Miami – my Dad remembered an old Indian man visiting the school, he
had long braids, white hair and wore Miami clothes. I wish I had written down the
names. My Dad’s nick-name was “Bundy” (He was Irish-American).
Because they were all very lovely.
It could be so much better.
Excellent combining of past and present history. Good hands-on for young
people.
The beadwork is amazing! It’s the coolest!
It was not meant for children.
I liked the computer work.
The info. was good and productive.
Any recognition of the Native cultures of Indiana is long overdue and should be
heavily promoted in the media to bring attention to the shameful fact that the
Miami of Indiana are not a federally recognized tribe. Great Job!!!
