Webinar Description:
Join us to gain knowledge about K-16 low income and first generation student populations. In addition, we
will discuss college advising strategies and tools to support low income and first generation students. We will
also review relevant research to support first generation and/or low income students.
About our Presenters:
Lauri Silas Benton, Ed.S., is the Director, Membership Mobilization and Engagement district level
administration. Lauri led an award winning comprehensive guidance and counseling program fo diverse
student populations in a large urban district and was recognized as Secondary School Counselor of the Year
and Region Secondary School Counselor of the Year by DeKalb County School Counselors Association and the
Georgia School Counselor Association, respectively.
Dr. Berenecca Johnson Eanes, is the Vice President of Student Affairs, at California State University-Fullerton.
Dr. Eanes has effectively led K-16 student success initiatives in various capacities for more than 15 years as such
institutions as Hamilton College, Morehouse College, Columbia University and Georgia State University of
Social Work, as well as John Jay College of Criminal Justice
Tammi Mackeben, M.A., LPC, is the Coordinator of Guidance and Counseling at Socorro Independent School
District in El Paso, Texas. Tammi was named the Texas Multi-Level School Counselor of the Year by the Texas
Counselor Association in 2007 and the 2008 National School Counselor of the Year, sponsored by the
American School Counselor Association.
