The intent of this procedure is to eliminate the risk of injury to both TDC employee’s and TDC patients.
Patients that temporarily or permanently require assistance due to a mental or physical condition such as:
 Any dementia, confusion, inability to communicate their history/condition
 Patients requiring assistance to void
 Patients requiring lifting
 Patients requiring assistive devices to transfer
 Patients requiring monitoring, supervision or observation
 Patients requiring transfer from vehicles
Must have appropriate assistance provided either by their nursing home/facility, their caregiver or home
agency or must be able to have care delivered without transferring the patient to an exam table/stretcher.
Patients presenting for care that require any of the above or any other situation that would require TDC
staff to monitor/supervise or transfer a patient will be rescheduled for a time when the patient/facility can
provide appropriate assistance.
Scheduling staff will always ask if the patient requires assistance for mobility or supervision and will
always remind that appropriate assistance must be provided by the patient/facility.
