RESPONSE TO: When do you hold RtI meetings

WHEN DO YOU HOLD RTI MEETINGS?

We have done both (during and after school)...we try to schedule them when our staff
have prep times or right after school. Sometimes an aide will take kids to a recess or
another staff member will cover during their prep time if necessary.

We meet after-school. Our teachers have a common prep period of 2:45-3:15. We
usually go beyond the 3:15 mark though.

Our Grade School will implement the following to accommodate the RtI mandate(s),
beginning next year:
1) All classroom and supplemental schedules will work around the RtI schedule (RtI
schedule completed in May of 2008)
2) We will create a calendar that will include professional development mornings (once a
month so that our RtI team can network with grade level teams in grades 1-6 about
screenings, progress monitoring, problem solving, etc.) We will try to rotate those
mornings so as to not take time away from only one supplemental and/or subject area,
etc. This will be added to days where we will have S.W.A.T. and/or IEP meetings
scheduled for the afternoon so that we only have to hire two substitute teachers to
"float" for the morning and afternoon.
3) We also will utilize our monthly after-school PBIS meetings (all staff) to network. RtI
and PBIS are strongly attached to one another.
4) Our RtI team also attends RtI trainings (most specifically the ASPIRE South)
periodically – these are also available for one or two classroom teachers on a rotation.

During the day utilizing a roving sub.

We meet two mornings per month and get three subs: one for the spec. ed. teacher,
one for the facilitator, and one "roaming" sub to cover for which ever teacher we need
to discuss a particular student. We just finished our third year and this works out very
well.

We have our RTI meetings twice a month on Monday afternoons. I get subs for the RTI
team members as well as a rotating sub for the classroom teachers who are bringing
students names to the group. It has worked very well - this was the first year we held
our meeting this way. We found we could discuss many more students than trying to do
after school meetings.

Our team meets 30 minutes before school with the regular education staff. The special
teachers that are on the team may meet a while longer in needed.

We have two teachers per grade level so we would get floating subs for two days and
block out an hour for each grade level. I would like to include spec. ed next year but
using the subs gets crazy.

We meet during the school day. We hire subs for the entire team. It seems we are
doing that more and more. (we also have some classroom "floaters")

We meet every other Wednesday from 1:00 - 3:00. I have had aides with sub
certificates, teachers on prep periods, or one of the special ed teachers who team
teaches cover classes.

We meet two mornings a month. We use subs for team members and a
floating sub for classroom teachers.

We have our meetings every third Friday during the school day. An internal sub is used
and we pay for this through our Special Ed flow thru monies.

We meet with the grade level teachers, Title I Teacher and myself after the fall testing
and mid-year testing. I plan on getting at least one or two more meetings in between.
We have our paraprofessionals cover the classrooms during our scheduled RTI time for
that grade level.

I schedule RtI meetings every other Tuesday from 8:30-11:30. I get a floating sub to
cover the teachers. I know when I taught, we had to schedule kids for MDT meetings
during our plan, but my teachers will file a grievance if I ask them to give up plan time
for RtI. I know the other elementary building in my district which is 2-4 schedule their
meetings in the 1/2 hour before school, but they have less kids coming through. We are
always full and I could probably use more time to talk about students. Next year will be
our 4th year of implementation and we still feel like we could improve a great deal. We
are getting there though.

During the day with subs 5 times a year for data discussions- benchmarking late Sept,
progress review mid Nov, Benchmarking in late Jan, progress review in March, and end
of year benchmarking in last week of May. We use to meet as a whole team for an hour
but now meet myself, 1/2 time school psych and each individual classroom teacher meet
for 30 minutes. We meet every other week as a team- myself and grade level teams to
discuss tier 1.

We have one sub cover the teacher's class who has the child currently and then another
sub to cover a teacher from another grade level. We do as many as possible in one day.
So, these subs go from room to room. We pay for it out of our special ed funds.

We are given 4 or 5 subs, about once a month. I rotate the subs thru grade levels (and
include special area teachers as part of the process) so each team gets about 50
minutes to meet with the building team. If we need more time, I juggle the schedule
and don't include another grade level. When we do follow up meetings for progress
monitoring, it's usually before school or during lunch. My teams have one hour of
required team time together weekly (during a prep period), and I expect them to work
on problem solving once a month at a team meeting.
