Notes.
1.
Aircraft Areas shall incorporate floor drainage systems unless the Project Sponsor confirms the
area will not be permitted to contain fuelled aircraft. The intent of specifying floor drainage for
Aircraft Areas with Defuelled aircraft is to accommodate the potential future use with fuelled
aircraft as it is impractical to install floor drainage retrospectively.
2.
A CCTV installation should be considered where the system would enhance a fire brigade
response. Sponsors will identify when CCTV systems are required.
3.
Foam liquid proportioners are only required when fuelled aircraft are proposed to be housed in
the Hangar.
4.
Smoke exhaust or smoke and heat vents are required for multiple fuelled aircraft requiring CF3
(loss tolerable) protection – or multiple Defuelled aircraft requiring CF1, CF2 (and CF3 loss not
tolerable) protection – or any fuelled aircraft requiring high protection – in the same fire
compartment.
5.
Fire compartmentation between aircraft is preferred when the aircraft area contains fuelled
aircraft or when the aircraft are of high strategic value.
6.
Where individual aircraft requiring CF1, CF2 (and CF3 loss not tolerable) protection are located in
separate fire compartments then flame detection and low level foam suppression are not
required.
