ALL OTHER CLASSES = £30 per entry
Entries received after the closing date and prior to the Show maybe
accepted subject to an additional £5 per entry providing the classes
are not over subscribed. Entries will not be accepted at the Show
SURCHARGE FEE 24HRS EMERGENCY SERVICES - £8 per exhibitor – this
charge is to help towards the cost of Services etc.
STABLING
Loose Boxes are available and may be booked for the duration of the
show at £84.00 per stable, including VAT. Only shavings are permitted
A limited number of Barn type Stables (indoors) in the sponsor’s area are
available @ £110.00 per stable including VAT. (ON A FIRST COME
FIRST SERVED BASIS)
Other sponsors stables will be available in the Gold Area @ £97.50 per
stable including VAT.
THESE STABLES WILL ONLY BE AVAILABLE TO SPONSORS.
PONIES MUST NOT BE LEFT OVERNIGHT IN HORSEBOXES OR TRAILERS.
CORRALS ARE NOT PERMITTED ONLY HORSES & PONIES COMPETING
AT THE SHOW ARE ALLOWED ON THE SHOWGROUND.
EQUINE PASSPORTS/INFLUENZA VACCATION CERTIFICATES
Exhibitors are required to have Passports for all horses/ponies when competing at the show
and up to date Equine Inoculations Certificates for each of their exhibits. Any exhibitors
found without a passport or valid certificate for all their animals will be asked to leave the
showground.
FODDER
BEDDING WILL NOT BE PROVIDED BUT WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR
PURCHASE PRIOR TO THE SHOW AND LIMITED SUPPLIES AVAILABLE AT
THE SHOW

ELIGIBILITY
OVERSEAS VISITORS:- The Show Committee reserve the right to allow
overseas visitors to compete in all classes by invitation
ANIMALS ENTERED IN CLASSES:- 4-5, 8-15, 38-43, 52,53-60, 7376, 83-90, 91-94, 103-112, 125-126 must have qualified at one of the
qualifiers for the 2016 BSPS Winter Championships Show. Ponies must
be registered, owned and ridden by BSPS Members.
CLASSES:- 127 to 130 are open to registered Anglo and Part Bred Arabs.
All Part Breds must contain the minimum of 12.1/2% Arab blood.
Owners must be BSPS Adult Showing Member. Riders must be BSPS
Adult Showing or Junior Members
CLASSES:- 139 to 146 are open to animals registered, owned and ridden
by CHAPS (UK) Members.
CLASSES:- 147 to 149 – Animals must be registered Purebred Arabs
with the Arab Horse Society, owners and riders must be members of the
Arab Horse Society
ALL OTHER CLASSES are open to animals, owned registered and
ridden by BSPS members.

Classes 139-142 CHAPS Horse of the Year Show Qualifiers – Only open to
CHAPS (UK) Members and registered Horses/Ponies with a Horse of the Year
Show Competition Number – Please see class rulings
Please see page 55 for qualifying rules – Horse of the Year Show rules take
precedence.
ROSETTES & SASHES
Finalist rosettes will be awarded to all competitors in the Winter qualifying
classes. Special Rosettes will be awarded to all competitors in the Leading Rein,
First Ridden, Tiny Tots and Cradle Stakes Classes. Rosettes will be awarded to
8th place in all classes.
Sashes will be awarded to the Champions and Reserve Champions and to
winners of the Cradle Stakes, Nursery Stakes, Lead Rein Hunter Type,
1st Pony of SP or SHT, Lead Rein and First Ridden classes.
AWARDS FOR COMBINED CLASSES
PRESENTATION OF DRESSAGE AND COMBINED AWARDS.
A notice regarding the presentations of awards will be posted at the
Dressage Arena. THE WSP SECTION Prizes will be presented in the
normal way at the end of each section.

QUALIFICATIONS
HORSE OF THE YEAR SHOW 2016
Classes 139-142 and 147 to 149 are qualifiers for the
2016 Horse of the Year Show.
ROYAL INTERNATIONAL HORSE SHOW
This Show is a qualifier for the 2016 Royal International Horse Show. Animals
in each of the following classes will qualify:- 6, 7, 16-19, 20-23, 30-33, 36-37,
44-49, 50-51, 61-68, 69-72, 77-82, 95-98, 99-102, 113-122, 123-124, 127-130
THE BSPS “BLUE RIBAND PONY OF THE YEAR”
This Show is a qualifier for the
2016 BSPS Blue Riband Pony of the Year.
The Desert Orchid Blue Riband WHP/WH of the Year
The 1st and 2nd in classes 16-23 and will qualify.
The Blue Riband Lead Rein & First Ridden Pony of the Year. 1st and 2nd in
Classes 30-33 will qualify.
The Legend Blue Riband Show Pony of the Year. 1st and 2nd in Classes 44-49
will qualify.
The John Peel Blue Riband Show Hunter Pony of the Year. 1st and 2nd in
Classes 61-68 will qualify.
The Blue Riband Intermediate SRT and SH of the Year. 1st and 2nd in
Classes 77-82 will qualify.
THE BSPS “CLASSIC SECURITY (UK) LIMITED” CHALLENGE
This show is a qualifier for the 2016 BSPS CHALLENGE
The highest placed pony in classes: 2, 3, 6,7, 16-23, 28-33,36-37, 44-49, 61-68,
77-82, 95-98, 113-122 that has not qualified for the Horse of the Year Show in
the appropriate class, will qualify. If the highest placed pony has already
qualified for the BSPS CHALLENGE the qualification will be awarded to the
next eligible pony.
BSPS PREMIER LEAGUE
This show is a qualifier for the 2016 BSPS PREMIER LEAGUE.
The 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th placed pony in classes: 2,3, 28, 29 will qualify.
BSPS “BLACK COUNTRY SADDLES” RIDER OF THE YEAR.
The Best Rider in classes 2-3, 6-7, 16-23, 28-33, 36-37, 44-49, 61-68, 77-82, 9598 113-122. will qualify for the final at the BSPS Summer Championships Show
and the Best Rider in the Heritage classes who have not attained their 25th
birthday before 1st January in the current year.
BSPS CHAMPIONSHIPS SHOW
This Show is a qualifier for the 2016 BSPS Championships Show, to be held at
Arena UK, Allington, Grantham, Lincolnshire. The first and second prizewinners in classes 6-7, 16-18, 20-22, 28-29, 30-33, 44-49, 61-68 and the first,
second and third prize winners only in classes 2 - 3, 19, 23, 77-82, 95-98, 113122 provided the animal is owned registered and ridden by a BSPS Member.

This is a qualifying show for the 2016 Cherif Championship
Classes 127-128
Two may qualify
The highest placed pony at 138cms & under, (Pink Card) and the highest placed pony
over 138cms up to and including 148cms (Blue Card) will qualify. Both ponies must
be within the first four in the class. Ponies will not be ridden by the judge at
qualifying shows, but will be ridden by a lightweight adult at the Cherif
Championship final.
Classes 129-130
Two may qualify
Over 148cms – To qualify : One White Card and one Green Card. Will be ridden
by the judge. The highest placed entries within the first four in the class at (a) up to
and including 153cms and (b) over 153cms will qualify. No entry placed lower than
fourth can qualify, even if only one height section is covered by the top four in the
class.
The final will be held at the Cherif Championships Show at Addington Manor
Equestrian Centre, Addington, Bucks on 16th September, 2016

TIME TABLE
The Timetable is approximate; classes (except for Dressage) may be called early. It is the
exhibitor’s responsibility to be available for classes.
JUDGING OF WHP CLASSES
In some WHP Classes one judge will judge jumping, style and manners whilst jumping and
Phase II manners. The other judge will judge type, conformation and freedom of action.
Ponies will do their individual show in the same ring immediately following their jumping
round then remove any boots and go to the second judge for conformation.

BSPS Dressage Test 2a (2012) will be used for classes 131, 133, 135, 137 and Test 5 (2007)
will be used for classes 132, 134, 136, 138 and copies are available from B.S.P.S. Head Office
on receipt of S.A.E.
Entries will be limited, competitors must enter both sections A & B.
Riders may ride more than one pony in the Novice Gold Cup Classes Only (They may ride a
pony in a Novice class and a different pony in an open class). No pony may compete in more
than one class.
SECTION C will be a jumping course.
This Phase will be open to the competitors gaining the highest amalgamated scores from
Sections A and B.
All faults will be deducted from the total score carried forward from Sections A and B

must be graded with CHAPS (UK) I.D. CARDS TO BE CARRIED IN THE RING. Lead Reins not eligible for

ENTRIES SENT WITHOUT A CURRENT Horse of the Year Show COMPETITION NUMBER BY CLOSE OF
ENTRIES, WILL BE RETURNED BY THE SHOW AS INELIGIBLE TO COMPETE.
Only one exhibit may qualify per class. If the 1 st placed animal has already qualified, the qualifier may pass down
to the highest placed exhibit standing to 5th place, who has not already qualified. Qualification will be verified by
Horse of the Year Show office.
No spurs to be worn when ridden by a Junior Member, or by any rider in the pony sections (Non-Native not exc.
153cms, Native Cob, Traditional not exc 148cms)
All exhibits will require a height certificate to compete in the height restricted qualifying classes and to obtain a
Horse of the Year Show competition number (a photocopy should be sent to Chaps Admin, 1 McLaren Cottages,

Horses/ponies are to be produced at Horse of the Year Show in the same type category in which they qualified.

The “Pull in” or “no pull-in” system is at the discretion of the Judges on the day. If no pull is used, competitors will

Pure Bred Arab Mare 4 years old or over. Riders any age.
CLASS 149 RIDDEN PUREBRED ARAB GELDING OF THE YEAR
Qualifying class for Horse of the Year Show
Pure Bred Arab Gelding 4 years old or over. Riders any age.
Classes 147 to 149 will be judged in accordance with the Horse of the Year
Show Rules.
Qualification will not pass below 6th place. Qualification will be verified by the
Horse of the Year Show office.
Animals must be registered Purebred Arabs with the Arab Horse Society
Owners and Riders must be members of the Arab Horse Society
The exhibitor must have purchased an AHS Q card displaying the name of the
horse.
PUREBRED ARAB CHAMPIONSHIP
To be competed for by 1st and 2nd prize winners from classes 147-149
The Champion will qualify for the Horse of the Year Show,
if the champion has already qualified the Reserve will qualify,
qualification will not pass below 6th place.
The qualification will be verified by the Horse of the Year Show office.

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY AND RULES
Classes 131-138 will be Judged in accordance with the BSPS
Combined and Gold Cup Rule Book.
Classes 139-142 and 147-149 will be judged in accordance with
Horse of the Year Show Rules
Classes 143-146 will be judged in accordance with CHAPS Rules
All other classes will be judged in accordance with BSPS Rules
Rules.
Only tack or spurs that is permissible in the ring in BSPS classes is
allowed on the showground while mounted
Animals must be registered with the BSPS for 2016. Owners and
Riders must be current members of the BSPS to compete in all
classes except in classes 139-146
The Committee does not accept responsibility for any loss, damage
or injury to any person, animal or property at the Show. Exhibitors
are warned that property has been lost at Shows, and are therefore
advised to take every precaution and not leave property unattended
The Committee reserve the right to alter the times of the classes or
the Judges if necessary
Mounted exhibitors must adhere to horse walkways and riding
areas.
OBJECTIONS must be made in writing with the objector's full
name and address within 60 minutes of the completion of judging
and must be lodged at the Secretary's Office together with the sum
of £50 deposit. This sum will be returned if the objection is
sustained, but if the objection is not sustained the deposit will be
forfeited to the funds of the Winter Championships.
The Objection Committee will consist of Mrs. S. Thomas,
Mr. P. Hilton, Mr. A. Rothwell or any other official if applicable.
Any objection against a JMB Certificate must be lodged in
accordance with the current JMB Rules.
Any objection against the judging of a class or championship
must be referred to the BSPS in accordance with the Rules in the
2016 BSPS Rule and Show Hand Book.
Any pony taking part will be liable to Dope Testing.
No marks will be displayed until after the presentation of awards.
It is strongly recommended that all exhibitors carry Public
Liability Insurance for an adequate indemnity to protect against
their negligence.

WARNING!! Children, Motorcycles or Bicycles. Children MUST
NOT be allowed to play on the bales of straw. NO Motorcycles or
bicycles will be allowed to be ridden around the Showground or
stable area at any time. Bicycles or motorcycles may be
impounded for the duration of the Show.
STABLING Please fill in your stabling form correctly, this will
assist the Office and Stable Manager. Stabling will be available
from Thursday 24th March 2016. Boxes cannot be booked for
exhibitors to sleep in. NO cooking or smoking permitted in the
stable areas. Stables in different names cannot be allocated next to
each other unless booked together at the same time.
Dress for Evening Performance. Riders must wear blue or black
coats with hunting ties, (stocks), correct riding hats and leather or
string gloves.
No buttonholes or earrings allowed.
SPURS are not permitted including the use of Spurs in collecting
rings, except for competitors 16 years and over competing in the
horse classes, and in the Exceeding 148cm Anglo and Part Bred
Arab class
HATS All competitors must wear hats in accordance with BSPS
Rules.
All entries and stabling fees MUST be paid in full when entries are
made. NO entries will be accepted by telephone.
Incorrect entries will be refused. ANY CHEQUE that is not
honoured by the Bank will be returned to the exhibitor with their
entries, and these WILL NOT be accepted.
A £10 surcharge will be charged for stables cancelled prior to the
closing date of entries.
NO entry fee will be refunded NO REFUNDS on stables
cancelled after the closing date of entries.
20.
LATE QUALIFICATION
Any pony that qualifies after the closing date 4th March 2016 must
enter within 24hrs of qualifying. Entries for ponies that qualify on
20th March 2016, MUST be sent by email no later that 21st March
2016. The last date for qualifying for the Winter Championships
Show is 20th March 2016.
WARNING in the interest of other exhibitors, please refrain from
playing loud or amplified music or making excessive noise on the
showground after 11 pm
THESE RULES WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED,
OR DISCIPLINARY ACTION MAY BE TAKEN.

THIS SHOW IS RUN WITH DUE REGARD TO HEALTH AND
SAFETY. THE PERSON RESPONSIBLE ON THE DAY WILL BE
MR. ALEX ROTHWELL WE REQUEST THAT ALL EXHIBITORS
AND MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC COMPLY WITH ANY REQUEST
ANY VERBAL OR WRITTEN FROM SHOW OFFICIALS WHICH
PERTAIN TO THESE REGULATIONS IN THEIR OWN BEST
INTERESTS. DETAILED GUIDE LINES CAN BE SEEN AT THE
SECRETARY'S OFFICE AND /OR ON NOTICES AROUND THE
SHOW GROUND. ANY ACCIDENT SHOULD BE REPORTED TO A
SHOW OFFICIAL IMMEDIATELY. REGULATIONS WITH
REGARD TO THE RIDING OR DRIVING OF HORSES AND PONIES,
MOTORISED VEHICLES AND BICYCLES WILL BE STRICTLY
ENFORCED IN THE INTEREST OF ALL CONCERNED.
21.
CANCELLATION
The BSPS shall be entitled to cancel the Winter Championships Show.
1)
upon the serving of notice to the entrant of such cancellation, not less than 48
hours prior to the Winter Championships Show: or
2)
an Event of Force Majeure occurs
For the purpose of this clause, “Event of Force Majeure” means an act of God
including but not limited to fire, flood, earthquake, windstorm or other natural disaster,
act of any sovereign including but not limited to war, invasion, act of foreign enemies,
hostilities (whether war be declared or not) civil war, rebellion, revolution,
insurrection, military or usurped power or confiscation, nationalisation, requisition,
destruction or damage to property by or under the order of any government or public or
local authority or imposition of government sanction embargo or similar action; law,
judgement, order, decree, embargo, blockade, labour dispute including but not limited
to strike, lockout or boycott; interruption or failure of utility service including but not
limited to electric power, gas, water or telephone service; failure of the transportation
of any personnel equipment, machinery supply or material required by BSPS for the
provision of show services breach of contract by any essential personnel; any other
matter or cause beyond the control of BSPS.
Upon the cancellation of the Winter Championships Show, BSPS shall return all
Winter Championship Show entry fees to the entrants, however in certain
circumstances the Society reserve the right to retain a fair percentage of the fees when
the Society has incurred expenses.
BSPS shall not be liable to the show entrants in contract, tort, negligence, breach of
statutory duty or otherwise for any loss, damage, costs or expenses of any nature
whatsoever incurred or suffered by the show entrants of an indirect or consequential
nature including without limitation any economic loss or other loss of turnover, profits,
business or goodwill.
Any notice served in accordance with this clause shall be in writing and shall be
deemed to have been duly given if left at or sent by post or telex or facsimile to the
entrant at the address or relevant telecommunications number for such entrant or such
other address as the entrant may from time to time designate.

A table top sale has been arranged for
the Friday evening 25th March 2016
from 6.30 pm
The proceeds will go towards the
Children’s Entertainment at the
Summer Championships.
The cost of the table will be £10 with
entries or £20 on the night.
Please bring all your unused tack and
clothing and support the event.
