Acknowledgements
This, the second version of the SI Manual in Health Care, is expected to be the final edition. It has been prepared by the
Sub-Committee of Metric Commission Canada Sector 9.10 Health and Welfare under the chairmanship of Mrs.
Genevieve Wilson of the Canadian Dietetic Association.
Once again special thanks are extended to Dr. M.J. McQueen of McMaster University who has made refinements and
extensive expansion to the tables for SI Units in Clinical Chemistry and Hematology Appreciation is extended to Dr.
Gordon Catton of the Canadian Association of Radiologists, Dr. John C. Crawhall of the Intersociety Council of
Laboratory Medicine of Canada, Mr. Hugh McCabe from the Ontario Ministry of Health, Dr. Normand Da Sylva of the
Canadian Medical Association, Mr. G.A. MacNutt of the New Brunswick Department of Health, and Dr. R. Zenter of the
International Federation of Clinical Chemistry. Recognition must also be given to Ms. Cathy Patton of the Metric
Commission Canada and Ms. Raun Kipp who processed the document at the Canadian Hospital Association.
Combined with the work of provincial steering committees, the first version of the SI Manual in Health Care has had an
enormous impact in stimulating SI conversion in hospitals in this country. It is hoped that this final version will go a long
way towards completing the conversion process. Sector 9.10 reserves the right to approve any alterations to the content
or the format of this publication.
