STUDENT MEMBERSHIP GUIDELINES
Student membership is open to any individual, regardless of race, color, religion, national
origin, mental or physical disability, and/or financial status, and who meets the following
eligibility guidelines.
1.
A freshman, sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate student in an accredited college
or university.
2.
Enrolled in a minimum of 8 units at an accredited
college/university under the quarter system, or 6 units at an
accredited college/university under the semester system.
4.
Submission of the Student Membership Application with attached class schedule for
the current semester/quarter with signed approval by the student faculty advisor or
appropriate department chair, which will complete a verification of membership
eligibility prior to submitting application to PIHRA Home Office for processing.
5.
Program of Study must have a Human Resource emphasis or closely related field.
6.
Payment of Student Membership dues.
7.
Any individual that qualifies for any other category of PIHRA membership is not
eligible for student membership.
STUDENT MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION PROCEDURE
A completed application and the recommendation of a faculty advisor are required along with
the proper payment of annual dues. PIHRA Student Member dues in the amount of $30
annually are received from August 1 through July 31. Student chapters may assess the need
for additional dues to help fund activities for the chapter.
Send your approved application to PIHRA either through your student chapter organization
on campus or to the PIHRA office directly. Checks should be made payable to Professionals
in Human Resources Association.
Who will not qualify as a Student Member of PIHRA
Person enrolled in: PHR/SPHR Study Series, SHRM Learning System, or any other HR
certificate course or not meeting the above criteria in items #1 and 2.

Monthly Meetings
Each of the sixteen districts meets monthly for breakfast or lunch with a
speaker on HR issues. Information about all the district meetings including
who, when and where is available online at www.pihra.org under the site
map button at the top of the page. You will receive a monthly
announcement about the meetings of your resident district. However, you
may attend any district’s meeting. Student members may pay a reduced
price. Contact the individual district for the discounted student rate.
Career Services
To help advance your professional career, PIHRA maintains an extensive
listing of current HR openings throughout Southern California. You can
access the listings or post your resume on our website (www.pihra.org).
PIHRA student membership is also a valuable resume-building experience.
In addition, PIHRA provides access to student HR internships.
Networking
As the leading Human Resource organization in Southern California with
over 4,500 members, PIHRA provides you with valuable opportunities to
network with other students, faculty and professionals working in the field of
HR. Student members are strongly encouraged to seek available
leadership opportunities on district boards. Please contact your district
board leadership for available leadership opportunities.

A quarterly e-newsletter packed with current information related to HR
practices and issues as well as information on upcoming PIHRA events.

Student members will receive the same discount as Official Members when
attending any of our Educational Workshops, Legal-Up Dates and Annual
Conference & Exhibition.
