Pop, Pop, Fizz Fizz Physical/Chemical Changes Rock!
Problem:
Determine chemical and physical properties and identify physical and
chemical changes
Materials:
Pop Rocks® candy
Zotz® candy
Hand lens
Eyedropper/Disposable pipet
Distilled water
Paper towel
Procedure:

Put a Zotz® candy in your mouth. DO NOT bite it! Record your observations
After a few minutes, record your observations
On the paper towel, break open a Zotz® candy. Observe and record.
Add a few drops of water to the contents of the candy. Record your
observations.
Open the Pop Rocks® and place a few of the “rocks” on the paper towel.
Using the hand lens, examine the “rocks”. Record your observations.
Put a few Pop Rocks® in your mouth. DO NOT chew. Record your
observations.
Add a few drops of water to the Pop Rocks®. Record your observations.
Hold a few “rocks” in your hand; close your hand and record your
observations.
Clean-up:
1. Divide the leftover candy between lab team members – it is yours to enjoy 
2. Throw away candy wrappers and paper towel.
3. Put hand lenses and pipets on the tray.
