Assessment Preparation: Word Origins

Directions: For each of the vocabulary words from Chapters 5-6 below:

Read the origin of the word. ( The base of the word is in parentheses.

Draw an inference (an educated guess) of the vocabulary word’s meaning based upon the word origin. ( You may have to look up the word in parentheses to find this. You may also refer to the novel for help in context.
