Prof. Klasen joins the Board of Directors of PI Germany
Hanover, April 4, 2011: At the General Members Assembly of PI (PROFIBUS & PROFINET
International) Germany held on April 4, 2011, in conjunction with the Hanover Fair, Prof. Dr.
Frithjof Klasen was elected to the Board of the Directors. Prof. Dr. Klasen replaces founding
chairman Prof. Dr. Klaus Bender, who retired in 2009 and did not run for re-election for age
reasons. The Board of Directors is now made up of Joerg Freitag (Chairman, Siemens AG),
Klaus-Peter Lindner (Endress + Hauser Process Solutions), and Prof. Dr. Frithjof Klasen
(AIT).
Prof. Klasen has served as director of the Institut Automation & Industrial IT (AIT), Cologne
University of Applied Sciences, since 2003. As outstanding expert on PROFINET technology,
he has held an excellent reputation for many years. In addition, Prof. Klasen has a great deal
of experience in the field of Industrial Security. The Institute for Automation & Industrial IT he
directs, has been an active member of PI Germany since 1997 and an accredited
PROFINET Competence Center since July 2009.
Prof. Klasen has excellent industry contacts and has implemented numerous industrial
automation projects both domestically and abroad.
