Research Interest:
I am interested in the isolation and characterization of natural products from
both terrestrial and marine organisms in particular diterpenoids, lignans,
triterpenoids, steroids, alkaloids, etc. In addition, I am also interested in
modifying bioactive lead compounds and studying the Structure-Activity
Relationship.
Topics of Research:
Phytochemistry – Isolation, purification and structural elucidation of
secondary metabolites from traditional Chinese medicines (Kadsura,
Schisandra, Illicium) and potential anti-cancer plants (Taxus, Casearia,
Hypercium).
Marine Invertebrates Natural Product Chemistry – research of secondary
metabolites from marine invertebrates, such as soft corals (Clavularia, Xenia,
Cespitularia, Sarcophyton) and sponges (Xestospongia).
Marine Microorganisms – actinomycine and dinoflagellate
Working techniques
1. Spectrometers of LC-Mass, IR, UV, CD, optical rotation

(served as a NMR supervisor in the Institute of Marine Biotechnology and
Resources)
3. HPLC operation (Hitachi, Shimadzu, HP, Waters)
4. Computer skills including MS-Word, MS-PowerPoint, Xwin-NMR,
ChemDraw, MestReNova
