COURSE REQUIREMENTS (1-3 units)

This course is available for 1, 2, or 3 units. See Course Level pull-down menu on the previous course
detail page to select the number of credits chosen for this course (F = 1 unit, G = 2 units, and H = 3 units).
Course Requirements
Once a student has registered for the site and enrolled for this class, he or she must complete the
following requirements.
For 1-unit course:
1. Journal Log: List the hours for professional development activities in your Journal Log to meet
the required 15 hours per unit of active instructional learning.



Time spent working on required assignments should NOT be included in the Journal Log.
Conference, workshop and/or seminar hours must make up half or more of the required
instructional learning hours of the Journal Log.
If additional hours are needed to complete the Journal Log, students may combine two or
more conferences together and/or use books, articles, webinars, observations,
collaboration and/or interview hours for further research on or implementation of the
course topic.
Documentation: Submit a copy of your professional development or conference attendance
certificate and/or a copy of the conference information with descriptions of sessions attended in
your Course Workshop tab within the Track Your Professional Progress folder (see
Submitting Coursework information below).
2. Reflection and Application: Use the reflection guiding questions provided to assess your
professional development activities and explain your goals for improving instruction in your school
or classroom, including how your classroom and/or leadership practice may be enhanced.
Participants must submit a reflection and application assignment that meets the standard and
quality of a graduate-level paper.
For 2 or 3-unit course:

describe the professional development activities in which you participated.
3. Research and Evaluation: Read two or three educational articles that pertain to the professional
development activities in which you participated. Select articles from given educational
databases and write a response to the research and evaluation guiding questions provided for
each of the articles you read. The research and evaluation assignment must meet the standard
and quality of graduate-level work.
4. Reflection and Application: Use the reflection guiding questions provided to assess your
professional development activities and explain your goals for improving instruction in your school
or classroom, including how your classroom and/or leadership practice may be enhanced.

Submitting Coursework
Upon enrolling for this course, templates for assignments will be available for you to download in your
Course Workshop tab within the Track Your Professional Progress folder (templates also available in
the Course Material Templates section on the course detail page). All coursework must be uploaded and
submitted electronically into your course inbox located in your personal folder. All course requirements
must be submitted within six months from the date of course enrollment. All coursework must be
original. You will receive a grade by email within 2-3 weeks of course completion.
Self-Paced Format
An instructor is assigned to your course, and your instructor will grade your assignments. The courses are
self-paced and easy to follow; therefore minimal contact with the instructor will be necessary. However, if

Assignment Templates
The assignment templates are located in the Course Workshop tab of Track Your Professional
Progress (also available in the Course Material Templates section on the course detail page). Save the
assignment templates on your computer or flash drive and complete each assignment. Upload and
submit your completed assignments electronically in the Course Workshop tab located in your personal
folder.
