CANCER SPECIALISTS FROM ACROSS THE GLOBE GATHER IN CALGARY
Calgary, AB, September 12, 2006 - 107 Albertans die of cancer every week. On average, 273
Albertans weekly are diagnosed with cancer.
5,600 deaths from cancer will occur in Alberta in 2006, according to the Canadian Cancer Society.
In an ongoing attempt to combat cancer, radiation doctors and specialists from around the world
arrive in Calgary tomorrow to share information about reducing suffering amongst cancer patients.
"Over 450 radiation oncologists, physicists, therapists, residents, fellows and related health
professionals converge in Calgary this week for the 20th Annual Scientific Meeting to discuss new
technology available to cure cancer" reports meeting host, the Canadian Association of Radiation
Oncology.
10 Calgarians and five Edmontonians are scheduled to present at the Meeting.
The Annual Scientific Meeting includes topics on:
• Innovative new technology
• Patient care
• New research developments

The Canadian Association of Radiation Oncology is a professional association dedicated to
