STYLING CAPABILITY EXPANDS THROUGH NEW ANTRON® CARPET FIBER INNOVATIONS
AND CAPITAL INVESTMENT
ATLANTA (June 13, 2011) – INVISTA, the maker of Antron® carpet fiber, is launching several innovations in carpet
fiber. The innovations are designed to enhance carpet styling, including a new 900-denier fiber family of Antron
Lumena® solution dyed nylon and additional Antron Lumena® solution dyed nylon Glimmer™ accent fibers.
INVISTA's commercial flooring segment has also received approval for a capital project expansion to increase
production capacity of Antron Lumena® solution dyed nylon with TruBlend™ fiber technology at its Kingston,
Ontario facility. Over time, TruBlend™ fiber technology, which contains 30 percent recycled content, will evolve to
become a primary polymer platform for all colors of Antron Lumena® solution dyed nylon.
The new Antron Lumena® solution dyed nylon 900-denier offering will be available in colors representing new
color spaces, each with a light, medium and deep tone.
“The expansion of Antron Lumena® solution dyed nylon into a new denier family supports new tufting technology
advances and offers expanded styling opportunities for product design,” said Diane O’Sullivan, global marketing
director for INVISTA commercial flooring. “We strive to provide carpet mill product designers with a myriad of
options. We feel the first phase of the new color line will provide a rich color palette with the fundamental colors
needed for innovative carpet design.”
The Antron Lumena® Glimmer™ accent fiber offering has expanded with new colors and lusters in solution dyed
nylon. New metallic colors—including pewter (“A Glimmer of Taupe”), copper (“Shiny New Penny”), steel (“Tinker
Blue”) and bronze (“Dewly Noted”)—will join the current Gold and Silver colors. Antron® Glimmer™ fibers provide a
brilliant metallic luster to accent carpets of Antron® fiber, while continuing to deliver the performance of Type 6,6
nylon.
“The additional colors of Antron Lumena® solution dyed nylon Glimmer™ fiber will enable mills to create new
solution dyed nylon carpet styles with greater interest, luster and depth,” said O’Sullivan. “We are looking forward
to seeing how the product designers incorporate Antron Lumena® 900-denier fibers and Antron® Glimmer™
solution dyed nylon colors into new products for next year.”
“In addition to fiber technology innovations, we are committed to producing Antron Lumena® solution dyed fibers
with recycled content that contribute to LEED® points,” said O’Sullivan. “The expansion at our Kingston facility will
provide additional capacity for our TruBlend™ fiber offering and allow us to deliver more color options being
sought by customers.”
